Scope
The scope of this test plan is the testing of the Leakage Reactance portion of the M4000 software
for the Doble Engineering Company. Successful execution of this plan verifies the Doble
Engineering Companys internal requirements for the Leakage Reactance portion of the M4000
software and validates user needs. Development Managers and Engineers should review this
document to ensure all test requirements are included in the plan. Quality Assurance Managers and
Engineers should review this document to ensure all test requirements are being met.

1. Connect the Red and Blue low voltage leads from the M4100 to the low voltage lead
connection on the M4110 Leakage Reactance Interface M4110
2. Connect a couple of leads from M4110 Leakage Reactance Interface to the

4. Ground the M4110 Leakage Reactance Interface
5. Connect the Strobe light to M4110 Leakage Reactance Interface

Purpose: To Enter into the Leakage Reactance Mode using the Leakage Reactance icon on the
toolbar.

2.1.2. Menu
Purpose: To Enter into the Leakage Reactance Mode using the Leakage Reactance Test menu
item.
Procedure:
1. Run the M4000 software.
2. Choose Leakage Reactance Test from the Mode menu item on the M4000 main window.
Expected Result: The Leakage Reactance Clipboard screen appears.
2.1.3. Exit
File-Exit
Purpose: Verify that you can exit out of M4000 by selecting File-Exit from the main menu.
Procedure:
1. Choose File-Exit from the main menu of the M4000 Entry Screen.
2. Checkpoint: A pop-up window appears saying Do you wish to exit M4000 for windows ?
3. Select Yes.
Expected Result: You are exited out of the M4000 for Windows program.
X
Purpose: Verify that you can exit out of M4000 by clicking on the X on the top right hand
corner of the screen.
Procedure:
1. Clicking on the X on the top right hand corner of the screen.
2. Checkpoint: A pop-up window appears saying Do you wish to exit M4000 for windows ?
3. Select Yes.
Expected Result: You are exited out of the M4000 for Windows program.
Alt-F4
Purpose: Verify that you can exit out of M4000 by hitting Alt_F4.
Procedure:
1. Hit Alt_F4.
2. Checkpoint: A pop-up window appears saying Do you wish to exit M4000 for windows ?
3. Select Yes.
Expected Result: You are exited out of the M4000 for Windows program.
Corner Icon
Purpose: Verify that you can exit out of M4000 by double-clicking on the M4000 Icon at the top
left corner of the screen..
Procedure:
1. Double-click on the M4000 Icon at the top left corner of the screen..
2. Checkpoint: A pop-up window appears saying Do you wish to exit M4000 for windows ?
3. Select Yes.
Expected Result: You are exited out of the M4000 for Windows program.

The Nameplate Information, and the Administration, Test Conditions, and Help command buttons
are the same as the existing Clipboard.
Purpose: To test the M4000 Leakage Reactance Nameplate Information.
Procedure:
1. Test all fields shown below.
Expected Results:
The M4000 Leakage Reactance test fields on the test screen contains the user input fields: Serial
Numbers (A), (B), (C ) . It contains a Nameplate Data command button, and a Test
Configurations choice box. (Location, Manufacturer, Date, Time, Administration, Test Conditions
are explained in the M4000 test procedure).

The Dropdown menu consists of 7 choices: Single Phase, Delta-Wye, Delta-Delta,
Wye-Delta, Wye-Wye, Delta-Zig\zag, Wye-Zig\zag, and Other.
Note: When you make one of these selections the Test Configuration menu
automatically defaults to a preset list. For Example: If you select Delta-Wye
the Test Config. Menu will default to 3 - Phase Equivalent and the dropdown menu
will have Per - Phase Delta and Per - Phase Wye under it.

Voltage Measurements
Purpose: Verify that the measured voltage value given by the M4000 is correct.
Procedure: Record the value of the volt meter and compare that with the voltage value which
appears on the screen

Purpose: Verify that pressing F3 records the correct results and pressing F5 Accepts the results
and brings you out to the clipboard screen with the results correctly displayed.
Procedure:
1. Press (F3)-collect data.
2. Checkpoint: A message appears in the middle of the screen Dont change voltage-Collecting
Data, and across the Volts bar it says Ranging.
3. When the Test Done message appears note the values below.
4. Press (F5)-Accept results.
5. Checkpoint: The clipboard screen appears.
6. Mark the %Impedance and % Reactance from the test results below. These will be used for
calculations done later.

Purpose: Verify that the proper Test Excitation Level message is displayed to the user while
running the Single Phase Test.
Procedure:
1. Pick a value between 0.01 and 0.999 for Z(exp) [which is in Ohms]
2. Pick values in random for %Z which is the same as:
Nameplate % Impedence (A,B,C), Benchmark % Impedence(A,B,C), and Benchmark %
Reactance(A,B,C)
3. Pick a value for Basevolts [In KV]
4. Calculate S The Base Volt Amps (A,B,C) [in MVA], using the following calculation:
Z(exp) = 10(%Z)(V.V(KV))/S(KVA)
5. Use 0.1 Ohm Shunt as Specimen
6. Connect DVM across Chunt
7. Raise Variac until DVM across Shunt measures between 1 and 2 volts
8. Press F2 to run the test.
9. Checkpoint: The test screen pops up.
10. Press Continue
Expected Result: The Single Phase test starts and after initial test preparations the message
Adjust the Variac until current measures between 2 and 20 ARMS
11. Press F3 to measure
12. Verify that when the proper test level is attained, the Test Excitation Level message disappears and
you can measure data.

running the Single Phase Test.
Procedure:

Purpose: Verify the calibration settings while the L.R.M. test is running.
Procedure:
1. Connect the external testing cable from a separate controller to the M4000 board connection.
2. Start the controller and go into DOS.
3. Change directory to c:\dta .
4. At the c:\dta prompt type m4ktests/2m.
5. Checkpoint: The m4ktest runs and a list of choices appears on the screen.
6. Enter 6) Request Calibration Status.
