REPORT: INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO

ADANI GROUP OF COMPANIES

Industrial visit to Adani Mundra Port was organized by


PARUL INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT during 24TH 25TH
November, 2012 to provide real life exposure to PGDM
students about knowledge of business systems and
management.
The group consisted of 72 students and 3 respected
faculties along with the Director of PGDM, Prof. Sameer
Rohadia.
THE SCHEDULE OF THE TRIP WAS AS FOLLOWING:
1st Day:
5:00 AM Departure from Ahmedabad.
On the way, 40 minute break for tea/coffee &
Breakfast.
1:30 PM Arrival at shanti Vihar (Mundra).
3:00 PM Visit to Adana Willmar Ltd (Edible oil refinery).
4:30 PM Visit to Adana Mudra Port.
6:30 PM Adani Profile CD Shown at Shanti Vihar Hall
8:00 PM Dinner
9:00 PM Cultural Program.
10:00 PM Rest.

2nd Day:
5:30 AM Day Started
7:00 AM Yoga Session
8:00 AM Breakfast
9:00 AM Visit to West Port.
10:30 AM Visit to Adani Power Plant
12:30 PM Lunch
1:00 PM Departure from Mundra
9:30 PM Arrival At Ahmedabad

VISIT TO THE ADANI WILMER REFINERY


On 24TH NOVEMBER, visit to Adani Wilmer Refinery
(largest refinery in India with 2,500 ton capacity) was
conducted. AWL (Adani Wilmar Limited) is a joint venture
between two recognized Multinational Corporations the
Adani Group and Wilmar International Limited, Singapore,
Asia's leading Agri business group with revenues
exceeding US $16.5 billion. AWL has under its portfolio,
Soya, Sun, Refined Mustard and Cottonseed oil. AWL also
has as part of its edible oil portfolio. The Manager,
Production Department gave exposure to the working of
the refinery plant and production procedure. He showed
the Korean technology based fully automatic plant for
making tin box, German based bottling machine, filling
area for containers, and infrared motion based defect
detection technology.
VISIT TO THE MUNDRA PORT CARGO TERMINAL
SITE
On 25TH NOVEMBER, visit at the cargo terminal site of
Mundra Port was steered by HR person, showed the cargo
handling at cargo terminals, vessel operations at Jetty,
ship berthing, use of conveyor belt, use of RORO (ROLLON/ROLL-OFF) Vessel for export of Maruti Suzuki cars and
floating bridge for loading cars. He also explained the
types of terminals and ships, different types of materials

handled at port, container yard, RORO vessel, and use of


floating bridge for automobile cargo handling.

VISIT TO THE ADANI POWER PLANT


After visiting the West Port, we visited Adani Power Plant
which is the second largest power plant in Asia and
largest in India. There are four (4) chimneys to boil the
ash with height of 225 metre, generating power which is
supplied to four state governments. The engineer at
Power Plant described operational details of boiler,
generator, Electrical Control Panel and security system.
The industrial visit at Mundra Port was informative and
helpful in providing real life exposure. Industrial visit
proved to be learning and fruitful experience for both
students and faculty members.

VISIT TO THE WEST PORT (COAL IMPORT


TERMINAL)
On 25TH , visit at the coal terminal was steered by the HR
person. He explained about how coal comes at West Port
via different countries. He also explained the working
functionalities of the transportation of the coal from West
Port to Thermal Power Plant and about their future plan of
expansion of number of berth stations.
