CURRENT ASSIGNMENT
Routine and Breakdown maintenance of all 230/400kV EHV
Switchgear Equipments.
Procuring and implementation of approved project Replacement
of 19 nos. of 245kV MOCBs with SF 6 Breakers in two phases.
Erection and commissioning of switchgear equipments viz. CTs,
CVTs, LAs, Isolators etc.
Indenting and purchase of all EHV Switchgear equipment spares.
Maintaining of major equipments history.
Core team member, Internal Auditor & Lead Auditor for EQMS
(ISO:9001 & 14001)
1. Proud to be a part of a team with Transport and MCT wing/RM Chennai which
executed major cost saving (approx. Rs.15to 20 lakhs) following two
assignments with the available NLC resources:
a) Intercarting and positioning of 250 MVA, 15/230kV Power transformer
of 105T weight at North Madras Thermal Power Station, Chennai.
b) Intercarting and transporting of 250MVA, 15.75/400kV Power
Transformer of 180T weight from Port Trust, Chennai to Thermal
Power Station-II.
2. Execution of reinstallation and commissioning of repaired 15.75/400kV
250MVA Generator Transformer for UNIT-6.
3. Established the method for troubleshooting and rectification of High Voltage
Rectifier Units of ESP Systems. It would have cost a minimum of Rs. 2 lakhs
per HVR unit. This expenditure is saved with the help of the other divisions
viz. MRT/TSII and CERS.
4. ST-1 and ST-2 radiators were started leaking heavily due to inherent
deficiency. All these radiator bank gaskets were changed. Engaging of any
external agency would have cost Rs.6 lakhs per transformer.
5. Successfully carried out the massive draining and filling with preprocessed
EHV oil of 60KL in each GTs of Stage-I and of 30KL in ST-1 & ST-2.This has
resulted in achieving of very high Insulation Resistance value of windings.
6. Successfully carried out overhauling and repair of 7 nos. of 400kV CVT, which
are supposed to be carried out at manufacturers site.
7. By the way of maintaining 230kV Bahoor bay equipments at TSII end on
behalf of PGCIL, likely to earn Rs.3 lakhs per year to our esteemed
organization.
Suggestions:
1. Very keen in implementing the approved proposal of replacing all 19 nos.
245kV Minimum Oil Circuit Breakers with 245kV SF6 circuit breakers.
2. To continue the project of replacing the entire remaining GAP type 198kV
Lightning arrestors with GAPLESS type lightning arrestors.
3. To continue the project of replacing the conventional PG clamps with the state
of art technology AMP Connectors to maximize the advantage of having very
low contact resistance.
4. Propose to introduce 0.2 Class accuracy CVTs and CTs, especially for Bus so
as to have more accurate registering of Power transaction in Feeders / Units.
5. Propose to do the retrofitting of 230kV isolators and its MOM Boxes to ensure
safe and smooth reliable operations.
6. Effective utilization of departmental labours
