Blink Code Drive Status Output

Typical Safety Shutdown Causes

For Internal Use Only
See Troubleshooting Section in Drive Manual

Drive Status Meaning

Rapid (~10Hz) Enabled

Drive is actively servoing.

Solid on

Ready, not enabled

Drive is ready to servo (not

shutdown), but is disabled.

Three

Over-current/voltage (I/V)
shutdown

High input voltage or bus

1. Input line voltage too high.
current has been sensed. Event 2. Regen circuit problem (SSt-3100, SSt-6000).
could be transient.
3. Supply transformer not tapped for real A/C levels (SSt-1000, SSt-1500).
4. Motor failure (phase open).
5. Cable failure (phase open).

Four

Thermal shutdown

Drive temperature exceeding

safe circuit limit.

Five

Tracking error shutdown

Tracking error has exceeded pre- 1.

established limit.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Six

RMS shutdown

The continuous motor torque

requirement has exceeded its
RMS torque limit.

Seven

Encoder signal problem

The drive has detected an illegal 1. Motor cable (logic side) problem.
encoder state.
2. Drive/Motor improperly grounded.
3. Encoder failure (motor).

Eight

N/A

Nine

Commutation signal problem The drive has detected an illegal 1. Motor cable problem.
hall sensor state.
2. Drive improperly grounded.
3. Motor hall failure.

Ten

ADC failure

1. Drive failure.

Eleven

EEPROM needs initializing

1. Drive problem.
2. Configuration file requires reload (due to communication problem during load).

Twelve

EEPROM hardware failure

1. Drive failure.

Thirteen

Vector setup error

Fourteen

Current sensor fault

Fifteen

Logic power backed-up

Sixteen

Power-up position recovery Position recovery window has

window exceeded
exceeded pre-defined limit,
drive won't recover position.

ASSUMPTIONS:

NOTES:

The drive uses the hall only

upon full reset to establish the
torque vector. An error was
detected at start-up.

Assuming No Thermostat:
1. Control box temperature excessive.
2. If using an external cooling fan, drive fan off or airflow blocked.
3. Thermostat jumper not in place.
4. Drive upside down.

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Command error (velocity or acceleration or both above spec).

Mechanical problem.
Low Voltage.
Motor cable problem.
Power supply problem.
Command error (velocity or acceleration or both too high).
Mechanical problem/bind.
Load too heavy.
Motor cable problem.
Motor short circuit.

1. Motor hall failure.

2. Motor cable (logic side) hall wire broken.
3. Drive problem.

1. Drive failure.
The Drive's logic power is
being backed up with main
drive power off.

1. The drive configuration file is correct for the motor and application.
2. The DSP is running under the correct voltage.
3. The drive has been reset after any motor cable disconnect.
1. Blink counts Rapid, Solid, 15 and 16 are indicator states, not shutdowns.
2. Blink count 15 or 16 requires 5.5 volt back-up power and appropriate QuickSet settings to engage.
