During my undergraduate studies, the opportunity to meet people with similar interests and

potential really shaped me considerably. I acquired the fundamentals of various subjects like
Linear and Digital Integrated circuits, Analog and Digital Communications, Satellite
Communications, Microprocessors, Digital Signal Processing, Radar System and Microwave
Engineering. All these subjects provided me with a strong footing in the theoretical concepts of
Electronics and Communication Engineering. Apart from these subjects I have developed an
interest in the areas of Computer networks, programming languages, Embedded & Real-time
systems. I tried to gain more knowledge in these fields. To be able to face the competition, I kept
myself abreast with the latest technologies by reading magazines and attending workshops. My
Head of the Department offered me a MATLAB based project on "ENERGY EFFICIENT
IMAGE TRANSMISSION IN WIRELESS MULTIMEDIA SENSOR NETWORKS" which
is mainly based on Embedded C and Computer networks. During my project work I concentrated
more on computer networks, programming languages, network security etc and I found these
were very much interesting to me from then I always kept learning computer networks,
programming languages etc. My project is all about Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), provide
a new paradigm forsensing and disseminating information from various environments,
with the potential to serve many and diverse applications . Current WSNs typically
communicate directly with a centralized controller or satellite. On the other hand,
a smart WSN consists of a number of sensors spread across a geographical area; each sensor
has wireless communication capability and sucient intelligence for signal processing and
networking of the data. A paper by Syed Mahfuzul Aziz, and Duc Minh Pham on energy
efficient image transmission in wireless multimedia sensor networks inspired me to
do this project. In this project, recent trends in wireless sensor network research
including an overview of the various categories of WSN, a survey of WSN
technologies and a discussion of existing research prototypes and industry applications.
Though my project has the concepts of communication, I have implemented this
using the concepts of C programming and computer networks. I look forward to a
career in research where I cannot only use my academic background to achieve my research
goals but also make original contributions to my field of interest. I believe that graduate studies
would provide me with the opportunities to attend advanced courses and would be the steppingstone to my career in research. I believe that my serious intention for study, my projects, my

certifications and strong academic background in various areas of Computer Science will be
beneficial for my graduate studies and research. Attending your prestigious institution would
give me an opportunity to receive high-level education under the guidance of prominent
professors and excellent teachers.
