the endless cycle of day and night

vazhuththi yunai anbodu thudhikka manam aruLvAyE: (I
should sing) Your praise with love.
thangiya thavath thuNarvu thand(hu): You should bless me
with the requisite meditating mind
adimai muththi peRa: so that this humble slave of Yours may
attain salvation
chandhira veLikku vazhi aruLvAyE: and transcend the cosmos of
the moon (through yOgA).
thaNdigai ganappavusu: (I request You to give me) a palanquin,
dignity and respect
eNdisai madhikka vaLar sambrama vidhath thudanE
aruLvAyE: from people in all eight directions, with increasing awe
and admiration.
mangaiyar sugaththai vegu ingidhamenutra manam: My mind,
which has immersed itself in the sensual gratifications offered by
women,
unRanai ninaith thamaiya aruLvAyE: should be made to
concentrate only on You and to remain there in peace.
maNdali karap pagalum vandha: Day and night, state leaders
come to me seeking
suba rakshai puri vandhaNaiya: ways and means of protecting

the people and ensuring their welfare;

wisdom to guide them.
