hearts and minds.
This workbook was designed to prevent your words from languishing in a Drafts
folder. It walks you through creating a few different styles of About Pages, with

How does it all fit together?

Heres an example

Hi, Im Nikki!
Im a content-writer and graphic designer, but you might also call me a branding
midwife, a website whisperer, or a blog birther.
(I love bringing things into being.)
I help healers who long to feel confident about their websites, but never quite
feel like their work is good enough. I guide them through the (sometimes
challenging, but always cathartic) process of creating their brand, so that they
cant wait to share their work with the world!
I know from own branding journey (and from helping these brilliant business
owners) that putting your words, your philosophies, or even your face online
can conjure up some really powerful resistance. (Care to binge-watch mediocre
sitcoms on Netflix instead of writing an About Page? Anyone?) Id like to help
you get through that so you can press Publish and start welcoming in your
ideal clients.
I believe that courageous healers will change the world. Thats why I hope you
join the Write Brave Community today.

PART 2: Go Deeper

This section takes your About Page a little deeper so that when you're
ready to release it into the wild, youll know that this beautiful beast
will sound unmistakably YOU.

2015 Nicole Bonsol | WriteBrave.com

Why should you infuse more you into your

about page?
Because people love to support (read: buy from) individuals and
companies who have similar values, interests, and aspirations.
A great way to reveal more of your personality on your About Page is
a Top 5 list of items or life events that align with your brand. Here are
a few ideas to get you started!

Idea #1: how do practice what you preach?

Share your message (what you stand for) and how you manifest that in your
every day life.
If your message is I believe that you deserve to treat yourself, then maybe
your list would be titled My 5 Favorite Indulgences
What is your message?

What would be the title of your Top 5 list?

What are your Top 5 items?

Are you (and your clients) obsessed with movies? Maybe your list is 5
Indie Films That Changed My Life.
Which of your passions and hobbies resonate with your clients?

What might your list be titled?

PART 3: Make a
visual impact
Now that youve finished the written content, its time to make it
LOOK as compelling as it reads.

Give your words

Have you ever landed on someones website and just inhaled all of their
content? The best websites are visually set up to make consuming their content
easily and enjoyably.
Here are a few tips for setting up your About Page to look visually delicious and
showcase the iconic YOU-ness of your business.

Tip #1: Use Headlines

Headline writing is a craft, and with practice you can get good at it. Im going to
share one method for pulling out headlines from your current website copy.

how to write headlines

Do you remember learning how to write essays in school? Most likely, your
teacher taught you that each paragraph you write should have a topic
sentence. Find the topic sentence of each paragraph and make that a
headline.
You can use it as is, or tweak it to make it a little more enticing. Ask yourself
What words would connect with ideal client? What words would be a little
surprise gift of validation that maybe they werent expecting?

Make them Stand Out

Once youve decided what your headline will say, make it visually stand out
from the rest of your copy. You can use a contrasting font, size, or color. (Or
even all three!)
The parts that stand out from the rest will be the little anchors that web visitors
scan through on your page. When your clients see a phrase that connects with
them, theyll dive in deeper to read the rest. :)

Tip #2: Use Styling

Using styling to make your copy scannable is similar to breaking up your text
with headlines. When I say styling I mean using bold, italics, and/or underline
to highlight key words and phrases in your main text.

How do you figure out what text should stand out?

Like with the headlines, I say, Start with empathy. The important words are the
words that validate your clients needs, highlight their goals and desires, or
champion your philosophy.
One note of caution: Be light-handed with the styling. If a whole paragraph is
bolded then nothing stands out.

Tip #3: USE this visual about

page template!
For an easy-peasy way to create a visually appealing
About Page, start with a free customizable template!

Step 1: Download the template

the template files to your computer. Choose from:

Step 4: Upload it to your About Page

Or send it to your web person to upload for you. :)
