7 Stars Doctor Required by WHO and FMUI

To be a good doctor, of course there are some criterias required. Seven stars
doctor is a standard made by FMUI (faculty of Medicine University of Indonesia)
which have to be achieved by each of FMUI graduate. Seven stars doctor is made
according to WHO (World Health Organization) '5 stars doctor' standard and two
additional criterias made by FMUI itself.

The first thing is Care Provider. Beside the responsible to cure the patients
illness, a doctor must support their patients wholeheartedly. Lets imagine how it
feels like to be a patient that has been judged that they will leave this life soon.
They really need encouragement and support; physically, mentally, and socially.
Not only examine them, but doctors also have to talk to them and the family,
ensure their patients that they are not alone because many people love them so
much, and so on. Doctors are not allowed to discriminate any kind of patients,
they have to treat all the patients as well as they can, and give the best effort to
cure their illness.

The second thing is to be a Decision Maker. In facing the cases of each patients,
doctors must decide whats to do; the most effective and correct actions. Doctors
must also think the negative effect that might be caused by the decision that they
take, because definetely doctors dont want any of their patients suffer more. In
most conditions, doctors need to take the best decision as soon as possible
because it can be a fatal failure if they take too much time to decide. After

determining the actions that they want to take, doctors need to tell the patients
family for their agreement. This applies for several cases like operation

Now, well talk about the third thing that a doctor requires. The ability to
communicate and interact with all people, or we just call it Communicator. Its
an obvious thing that all patients want a kind and helpful doctor, who will listen
and give solution to them, no matter how much stories they tell and how many
things they ask. Not only patients, doctors also have to interact well with their
administration staffs, laboratory staffs, etc. In our society, of course that kind of
doctor will be liked and respected by many people in the community. When many
people in the community respect a doctor, that doctor will become a 'Community
Leader'; the 4th criteria of a '7 stars doctor'. Supported by the previous criterias;
a doctor who becomes a community leader must be able to take actions that give
benefits to a large number of people in the society. For example, a doctor can give
explanation and ensure the people around them to be aware of how important it
is to maintain health for everyone, even if it is for small things like preventing the
Aedes aegypti mosquito around our houses.

Now,we'll discuss about the 5th criteria that a doctor should have. it is called
'Manager'. Why should a doctor have to be able to manage? And what things do
the doctors need to manage? Doctors, as we know, will face many critical
conditions. Doctors need to manage the situation and condition to become
effective. For example, in managing the administration of patients and giving the
prescription. Beside that, doctors need to manage and control their staffs work.

The 6th point is 'Researcher'. It is the first additional point from FMUI. As time
goes by, things change and we need different actions to face it. The same thing
applies also in medical. Each year, sometimes it appears new, or even epidemic
diseases that is sometimes mysterious and threatens the lives of many people. As

a doctor, we have to contribute ourselves and be active in may researches, to find

out the cause and solution of the new diseases, or maybe to invent the new
medicines for the diseases like HIV/AIDS or cancer. A seven stars doctor will not
stagnantly diagnose and cure patients based on the book they used to read when
theyre still a student. Doctors must be aware of the development of science,
always keep updated for the newest research.

The last point is 'Belief and Piety'. It is the second additional point from FMUI and
the last point of 7 stars doctor. Even though now it is modern era, but we, as
ordinary humans, will always believe in God. We believe that everything happens
on earth is because God's will. But, we have to remember that God orders us to
give our best effort before we hope for the best result to God. Faith to God, is
probably the most important thing above all, because when we believe in His
existence and obey His orders. In daily life, this point can be applied to all doctors
to work and help their patients as much as they can.

So, those are the seven points that must be achieved by all doctors graduated
from Faculty of Medicine University of Indonesia. With a great motivation and big
effort, we as students of FMUI surely can reach every point that is written above
and become a 7 stars doctor in our future.
