CHAPTER 2

Research Methodology
This

chapter

picture

of

how

the

researchers undertook the study. It described the subjects of the

study,

procedure

for

data-

gathering,

the

instrument and the statistical treatment of data.

Research Design
This study utilizes descriptive method. Descriptive research
is

method

use

to

collect

or

gather

data

in

order

to

test

hypothesis concerning the present status of the study (Vanzon,

2002). This method is used to gather data via questionnaire in a
survey form to come up to a result presented in the output. This
study aimed to determine the strategies and preparation of BS
Accountancy

graduate

and

other

graduate

who

shall

take

the

licensure exam. The researchers used the descriptive method of

research.
In this particular study, the researchers want to know the
differences
strategies

and
of

similarities
the

graduating

between
students

the
of

preparation
BS

and

Accountancy,

Engineering, Nursing and Teacher Education on how will they pass

the licensure exam. With this kind of method the researchers will
have potential to provide them a lot of information obtained from
the samples of individual.

The Sample
Sampling

is

the

process

of

selecting

representative

portion of the population that can be the source of data to test

the hypothesis. The researchers will conduct a survey to the
upcoming graduate of BS Accountancy, Engineering, Nursing and
Teacher.
The study population frame is composed of 255 graduating
students of Colegio De Dagupan that will take the licensure exam
that are enrolled in the second semester of the School year 20132014.

This

population

is

not

really

the

actual

number

of

graduating student, what the researchers did is they only choose

a specific course in every school that is included in their study
like in engineering and education. Using the two-Stage random
sampling

the

researchers

arrived

at

61

respondents.

The

researchers decided to choose the first block of every school

that is included with their study. The following table shows the
distribution of population and samples.

Instrumentation and Data Collection

This

study

used

questionnaire

as

main

tool

in

data

gathering. Questionnaire is very cost effective when compared to

face to face interviews.

responses to each question given out to acquire the needed data

information.
The researchers formulated a questionnaire which aimed to
know

the

differences

and

similarities

of

preparation

of

the

upcoming graduate of BS accountancy and others that will take the

licensure exam. The questionnaire is composing of 2 parts which
includes the profile of the respondents & the terms of reviewing.
The

researchers

conducted

the

survey

during

the

vacant

period of the respondent so that they will not be disturbed

during their classes. Upon distribution of the questionnaire the
researchers will immediately collect it after the respondent have
fully

accomplished

the

questionnaire,

after

collecting

the

researchers will analyzed and interpret the data.

Tools of Data Analysis

The statistical tools and formulas used by the researchers
for

numerical

presentation

are

frequency

count,

percentage,

Likert scale and average weighted mean. Frequency count is the

most straight- forward approach to work with a quantitative data.
A percentage is the result of multiplying a quantity by percent.
Average weighted mean refers to an average in which each quantity
to be average is assign a weight. These weighting determining the
relative importance of each quantity on the average weighting are
equivalent of having that many like items with the same value

involved in the average. Below is the point of value employed

upon the calculation of the survey result.
