great sages, centuries and centuries back. Even today, there are many valuable
manuscripts collecting dust in Oriental libraries at Baroda, Pune, Madras
Mysore, Trivandrum, Varanasi etc. The manuscripts of this system contain
certain techniques, usable in predictive astrology which can be rarely found
from other sources. Through the efforts of some modern intellectuals having
deep interest in astrology, such as Chandulal S. Patel, various Nadi Granthas
and rare old books were transcribed into Devanagari and English from their
local languages. Their efforts brought to light many principles for the first time
not known to many so far. The research thereafter on these principles proved
them true in application.
One such principle told in 'Bhrigu-Nandi Nadi' is about prediction of transit
results of a planet on an imaginary mid-point between Rahu and the Moon,
which is known as Bhrigu-bindu. It is calculated after finding out how far the
Moon has progressed from Rahu, after the last conjunction in the natal chart.
This point is very sensitive. When any planet, benefic or malefic (including Rahu
& Ketu) during transit aspects or conjuncts this mid-point, some favourable or
unfavourable event takes place respectively. The effects of transit by
'Conjunction' are more potent than those by 'Aspect'. Sometimes, when two or
more benefic planets simultaneously transit over, or aspect to this Bhrigu-bindu,
the magnitude of the favourable result increases to a very great extent. Same
way if two or more malefic planets transit or aspect to this point, the magnitude
of unfavourable results increases.
The principle is based on Rahu-Moon axis only, hence can also be used by those
persons who know their accurate birth date but birth time is approximately
known.
Conjunction or aspect by various planets to the Bhrigu-bindu may produce
following results:
JUPITER: This slow moving benefic planet may give favourable results such as
progress in studies; birth of brethern; getting employment; marriage; birth of a
child; promotion in service; profits in business; expansion of industry;
pilgrimage; recovery from long standing sickness; fulfillment of long cherished
desires etc.
MERCURY & VENUS: These fast moving benefic planet may give favourable
results such as meeting relations after long time; small gains of wealth; short
pilgrimages; festivities and rejoicing with close relations etc.
SATURN: This slow moving malefic planet may cause long sickness;
disagreement with spouse; her sickness or seperation; sudden loss of wealth;
death of near relations; harm to native himself; etc.
SUN & MARS: These fast moving malefic planets may cause minor sickness or
injury; temporary seperation from nearer relatives; loss of money; quarrels or
misunderstanding etc.
RAHU & KETU: May cause both favourable or unfavourable results, all of a
sudden, on a very big scale and from unexpected sources; bite by snake or
poisonous insects; mental sufferings; enforcement raids by Govt.; theft of
valuables; harassment, degradation in or termination of service; family
dissensions; misunderstandings with spouse
Bhrigu Bindu Progression in Annual Charts
Chandra upapada and Surya upapada are the arudha padas of the 12th house from Moon an Sun respectively. My guru
Pt Sanjay Rath did teach me once what they are supposed to show, but I did not fully understand and hence do not
want to talk about it.
When one does not fully understand what is shown by the 12 house from Moon and the 12th house from Sun, how can
one understand what is shown by their arudha padas?
Essentially, the progression I am talking of here is based on Tribhagi Vimsottari dasa!!! Find Tribhagi Vimsottari dasa
started from BB and map each mahadasa to a star (an arc of 13.33 deg). Within a mahadasa, map each antardasa to
an arc of length 13.333/9 deg. Within each antardasa, map each pratyantardasa to an arc of length 13.3333/81 deg.
And so on. Finding the mahadasa, antardasa, pratyantardasa etc, we can find the longitude of progressed BB.
Dasas have a variable length (Sun dasa corresponding to Krittika is of 6 tithis and Venus dasa corresponding to Bharani
is of 20 tithis), but they cover the same length in the zodiac (13 deg 20 min). Similarly, Sun antardasa in Sun dasa and
Venus antardasa in Sun dasa have different lengths in terms of time, but they should cover the same length in the
zodiac (1/9th of 13 deg 20 min).
This is where I strongly feel that Krishnamurthi (of KP) blundered. There may be many people who feel that his
approach works, but, as I see, it is not based on sound logic. If stars of the same length in terms of degrees have
different lengths in terms of dasa time, why can't the same thing apply to subs (divisions of stars based on antardasas)?
What is the basis for dividing stars non-uniformly in the ratio of dasa/antardasa time? It is totally illogical. Something that
is illogical cannot be correct no matter what thousands of people may say.
This is a hit or miss technique and IMHO not so useful practically. I do not use it in practical predictions. Though I use
annual TP charts, I use TA dasa for timing within a year. I do not use this technique.
However, this kind of techniques should be investigated and refined. Jyotish is an ocean of techniques. Every drop of
this ocean is worth studying.
I am cc'ing this mail to some other groups that may find this interesting.
BTW, I had a blessed trip to India. I visited 25 temples in south India and performed a Sata Chandi homam at a
Kalikamba temple in the first week of March. Everything went great and I am back in US now.
