Green Technology
Encompasses a continuously evolving group of methods
and materials, from techniques for generating energy to
non-toxic cleaning products

Viability

Examples

Electric Vehicles
Cars produce a lot of carbon emissions
that are ejected into our natural
atmosphere, leaving us vulnerable to
things like pollution and greenhouse
gases. In order to help positively the
environment we live in, an electric car
is a great step forward.

Advantages

No Gas Required
Savings
No Emissions
Popularity
Cost Effective
Low Maintenance
Reduced Noise Pollution

Disadvantages

Electricity isnt Free

Recharge Points
Short Driving Range and Speed
Longer Recharge Time
Silence as Disadvantage
Normally 2 Seaters
Battery Replacement
Not Suitable for Cities Facing
Shortage of Power
Some base models of electric
cars are still very expensive
because of how new they are
and the technology it took to
develop them

Electric Cars May Not

Be Better For The
Environment In Places
Where Power Comes
From Coal
People who own all-electric cars where
coal generates the power may think they
are helping the environment. But a new
study finds their vehicles actually make
the air dirtier, worsening global warming.
Ethanol isn't so green, either.

Green Computing
Green computing, also called green
technology, is the environmentally
responsible use of computers and
related resources.

Power-down the CPU and all

peripherals during extended periods of
inactivity.
Try to do computer-related tasks
during contiguous, intensive blocks of
time, leaving hardware off at other
times.
Power-up and power-down energyintensive peripherals such as laser
printers according to need.

Use liquid-crystal-display (LCD)

monitors rather than cathoderay-tube (CRT) monitors.
Use notebook computers rather
than desktop computers
whenever possible.
Use the power-management
features to turn off hard drives
and displays after several minutes
of inactivity.

Minimize the use of paper and

properly recycle waste paper.
Dispose of e-waste according to
federal, state and local
regulations.
Employ alternative energy
sources for computing
workstations, servers, networks
and data centers.

Wave Energy

Terminator Devices

Attenuators

Wind Power
Wind is the movement of air
from an area of high pressure to
an area of low pressure.
Wind is a clean source of
renewable energy that produces
no air or water pollution.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell

The fuel cell is a so-called
electrochemical cell that
generates electricity through
chemical reactions between a
fuel source and an oxidant.
Fuel source is generally
hydrogen and the oxidant
oxygen

Air Purification
...help to clean the air and improve your air quality in
your home or office.

Facts About Indoor Air Quality

-

According to the American College of Allergies, 50% of all

illness is aggravated or caused by polluted indoor air.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) themselves

declare that indoor air is anywhere from 2 to 10 times more
hazardous than outdoor air.

A recent study found that the allergen level in superinsulated homes is 200% higher than it is in ordinary homes.

Energy Conservation
Whenever you save energy, you not only save money,
you also reduce the demand for such fossil fuels as coal,
oil, and natural gas.
The average American produces about 40,000 pounds of
CO2 emissions per year. Together, we use nearly a
million dollars worth of energy every minute, night and
day, every day of the year.
