TASK:

Some people believe when famous people support international aid, it makes the general public think about it. Others
think celebrities make the problem less important. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
========================================================
MY ESSAY:
To raise public perception on social issues such as poverty reduction, plagues, international organizations often
borrow celebrities power as a key tool. However, there is a fact that global campaigns are likely to be neglected or
even BOYCOTTED due to illegible public figures. In my opinion, CELEBRITY- DRIVEN INTERNATIONAL AIDS might
significantly change community awareness, providing that both associations and artists get on with each other.
To the main reason that organizations REPOSE TRUST IN famous people is due to their far-reaching influence. They
are paid attention by not only INTERNATIONAL FANDOM but also mass media all over the world; stories on the plight
of the poor or devastating consequences of plagues might therefore make the headlines. Thanks to the celebrity
involvement, public will mutually help the needy, patients by fund raising as well as other contributions. For example,
Lady Gaga and her supporters donated a large amount of money for an anti-cancer movement in very short time
which most ordinary people find impossible because they are not as influential as superstars.
However, not every famous person is worth an ICONIC FIGURE. Some artists LEAD UNHEALTHY LIFE STYLE such
as sexual scandals, fraud indictment and thus worsen community campaigns that they participate in. Take, for
instance, Lindsay Lohan, who is NOTORIOUS FOR uncontrolled behaviors. What if organizations present her in
movements for children rights? The very high possibility is that public has bad impression on what organizations
impart to them. As a result, she is likely to be CRITICIZED SEVERELY and these activities might also be unable to
attract further attention.
In conclusion, the importance of public figures in international aids is undeniable. However, to ensure that movements
are on track, associations had better consider whether celebrities record is clear enough to perform the role of a
representative.

SPEAKING SAMPLE PART 1 'GAMES'

1. What games are popular in your country?

Well, if we can consider sports as games, then football is definitely the most popular game in my
country, but we also love board games like chess.
2. Do you play any games?
Not regularly these days. I play the occasional game of tennis with my brother-in-law, and I recently
played a bowling game on the Nintendo Wii with my nephew. I wasn't very good at it.
3. How do people learn to play games in your country?
I think children teach each other to play games. I remember a friend at primary school teaching me
to play chess, for example.
4. Do you think it's important for people to play games?
Yes, it's really important, especially for children. I think research has shown that play can improve
brain development, intelligence, creativity, and the ability to cooperate with others.

Some people believe that unpaid community service should be a compulsory of high school
programmes (for example working for a charity, improving the neighbourhood or teaching sports to
younger children. To what extend do you agree or disagree?
Bi vit:
Some people think that high school students should be forced to do unpaid community activities as a
part of their studying programmes. While I accept that these activities are beneficial for students to
some extent, I would argue that voluntary work should not be put compulsory for high school
students.
On the one hand, I am of the opinion that students doing unpaid work can lead to some notable
advantages. Firstly, participating in community service allows students to gain some useful skills
such as communication and team working skills since they usually work and cooperate with a large
number of people in society. These characteristics are very necessary for them to become a good
citizen in the future. Secondly, students who used to do unpaid community service are more likely to
get a good job because employers might value highly their contribution in the community. My

nephew, for instance, experienced voluntary work for teaching poor students during his high school
period, so he was easily employed to be a teacher in a big university.
On the other hand, I believe that high school students should do unpaid activities whenever they like
and we should not force them. The first explanation is that since students usually spend most time in
schools and have to do their homework everyday, they often suffer stress from their studying.
Therefore, if they join volunteering activities, they might not have enough time to fulfill their studying .
Another vital point is that high school students should relax and do sports after a hard studying day,
which can help them gain energy back to study more effectively.
In conclusion, although doing unpaid work can be advantageous for students, I firmly believe that
these activities should not be put in the curriculum as a compulsory part.
