It is my sincere pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Mrs. Jaime Furst. As
cooperating teacher, I have worked with Jaime in her role as student teacher at Hillside Avenue School in
Cranford, New Jersey and in that time she has demonstrated a genuine interest and enthusiasm for her
role as teacher. She has assumed a full range of teacher responsibilities in the classroom and has
exceeded expectations in her resourcefulness and creativity.
Jaimes lesson plans included clear and meaningful learning goals and objectives, which were
appropriately aligned with the NJ Common Core Standards. In order to make content meaningful to
students, Jaime possessed the ability to activate students prior knowledge and experiences by
understanding each student individually. Jaime provided students the opportunity to take responsibility for
their own learning and promoted meaningful involvement and interaction among them. Jaime adapted her
instruction to students individual needs, learning styles, and strengths.
Jaime has an exuberant personality that allows her to be animated with the students and keep
the mood bright and lively, which provides a warm and encouraging environment for her students to learn.
She showed control of the class by utilizing Responsive Classroom to establish routines and rules for the
students, as well as, starting the day with morning meeting that created a sense of community in the
classroom. Jaime always encouraged students to think critically, independently and creatively in a
learning environment that was safe for students to take chances.
Throughout our time together, Jaime was always willing to collaborate to create unit plans based
on the curriculum and Common Core standards, use student data collected to guide future instruction,
and strategically plan strategy groups, guided reading groups, and individual conferences. She always
looked for feedback in order to better herself as an educator and is quick to learn new programs that she
implemented into the classroom. Jaime is a wonderful collaborator that will not only bring meaningful
insight to her colleagues but foster collaborative relationships among colleagues.
Jaime Furst will be a professional and dedicated teacher. She will be an asset to any school
system that employs her. The students would have a teacher that truly cares about them as individuals
and as a learner. Mrs. Jaime Furst is a person of great character and has the skills needed to be a highly
effective educator.
