Event Ad

Objectives:

Scan a high resoulution image and use it to create a full bleed event
ad in Microsoft Word.

Process:

First I found the image that I wanted to use in GQ magazine and

scanned it. Then I did some mockup drawings on different layouts for
the title and body text. I figured the yellow that was on the original
ad was the color that I wanted to use. I made sure that all of the body
text and the title was lined up and that the body text contoured
around the image with around a inch buffer. In order to contour
the body text around the image I had to play with fonts, kerning and
even different wording.

Brochure

Objectives:

Create a two sided folded document which includes a text wrap, four
quality images, a new logo and three paragraphs of body copy all on
a full bleed.

Process:

I used Photoshop to cut out images and then used Indesign for the
placement of all of the text and the pictures. I also used text wrapping
and paragraph stylings to create uniformity and flow.

Objectives:

Learn basic photography and photoshop skills.

To use layers and groups in photoshop to add text on top of the
photo.

Process:

First I chose a color scheme and then I found items that had those
colors. I then did a photoshoot in my home using the rule of thirds,
good composition, and make sure there was enough lead room for
the text. I then took my image and changed the colors slightly and
worked with the levels and sharpness. After the image looked the
way I wanted it I placed the texts and images on the page. I created
the logo on the left side of the page by putting shapes together.
After I doing so I made sure that the flier all tied in together and then
resized and cut a few things to let it flow better.

Program(s)/tools:
Illustrator

Objectives:

Create a unique logo in color, greyscale and black and white.

Process:

First I sat down and drew out a ton of potential logos for a personal
brand. After I chose a design I started in Illustrator with a few circles
to make to create the tire and the hub. I then took the line segment
tool and made the spokes that attaches to the outer rim to the hub.
I then took a logo from my drafts and affixed it to the center of the
rim. I used the line segment tool to put a dark accent line through
the spokes. Then put the text on the tire just like real tires and used
a font that is close to Bridgestones font. After finishing my design I
changed the colors around to have a color, greyscale and white on
color background.

Flier

Process:

First I thought of my audience and message. After doing that I drew

out four sketches on paper to figure out possible layouts of the flier.
I took my favorite one and I created it in Adobe InDesign. I wanted
to make sure that I had enough white space on the page while also
using grey boxes to bring the readers eye from the top of the page
to the bottom as they read the flier. The image, logo and text was
provided.

Objectives:

Acquire a basic working knowledge of CSS and HTML.

Process:

I had to first create a png file for my logo. Then after that I learned
how to use code in HTML and in CSS. After that was figured out then
there was a lot of trial and error to get things looking right. I also
incorporated into my page clickable social media pngs that will go
directly to my prospective social media pages.

Objectives:

Use masks to blend two images together with a spiritual theme.

Process:

I first had to mask the majority of the background of the image of

my family out and to add the back ground image onto the page.
I brought my top image in and situated it on the bottom right of
the image. Then I took my brush tool at 30% opacity with a black
background to blend the background and the top image together. I
progressively brought the opacity down to create a cleaner look with
no hard lines. Then I found a quote from an LDS talk and found an
appropriate font and added it to the top left side of the images with
plenty of space on the edges.
