HIGH STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
A. PREK-4 PRINCIPAL UPDATE Cindy
Hansen reported that a Reading Corps
tutor has been hired for the 2015-16
school year. Teacher Evaluation went
well with sharing the duties with the 512 principal. PBIS was very helpful. We
will be changing our student database
to Skyward. Kindergarten enrollment is
at 108 with 3 more verbal yeses, and 1
on the list with siblings in the district.
B. 5-12 PRINCIPAL UPDATE Kevin
Cardille reported on the 8th gr Celebration. Some of the ACT scores are back.
He is projecting a 20 and 21 for our
district average. Handbooks are in the
board packet. He discussed having one
handbook, but because of many differences decided to keep 2 handbooks. He
went through the middle school schedule changes.
C. MSHSL RESOLUTION: Motion by
Champa, seconded by Fall to adopt the
resolution renewing our membership in
the Minnesota State High School League.
A roll call vote was taken with Bailey,
Champa, Douglas, Fall, Hayden, Heiden,

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION
A. SUPERINTENDENT EVALUATION
UPDATE: Champa reported on the evaluation summary. It centered around the
three district aims. The superintendent
performed as distinquished in all areas.
The school board thanked her for all her
hard work. Of 22 goals, she exceeded
expectations in 21 of those goals and
met expectations in the 22nd. She earned
the 1.5% bonus pay.
B. ZED UPDATE ZED Rep. Angie
Heiden reported on the strategic plan of
the ZED board.
There is a need for something to be
done with the ZED facility. There will be
a task force to make a plan that all 7
districts can agree on. Douglas and Hayden
will represent our district.
They also want to work on a collaborative plan to make ZED personnel feel a
part of our staff. They could get actual
Pine Island staff badges.
EFFECTIVE & EFFICIENT OPERATIONS
A. FUNDRAISING POLICY was shared
for information.
B. OTHER TYPES OF FUNDRAISING
AND DISTRICT APPROVAL (i.e. Donors
Choose and Go Fund Me): There was
discussion whether these are donations
or fund raisers. The board would like to
recognize Donors Choose as donations.
Staff should let them know when they
receive things from Donors Choose. Go
Fund Me will be left up to the principals
discretion.
C. FUNDRAISER APPROVAL DOCUMENT: There was discussion about panther wear sold to different sports. The
board feels that is not a door-to-door

camps.
Both Imagine This! The Art of Improv and Musical Theater:
The Sound of Music, run August 3-14 (skip the weekend), each for
half the day, so kids can take both camps if they choose. The camps are
open to youth entering grades 2 through 12.
By playing games and learning to take risks in a safe environment
in Imagine This! camp, campers will develop an ability to tell stories
collaboratively and work in the moment. Improv is an excellent tool
for improving self-expression, listening skills and body awareness,
and for boosting self-confidence ... all while having a gargantuan
blast! Instructors from the Minnesota SkyVault Theatre Company.
Youth who love to sing and act can do both in a junior version of
The Sound of Music. Auditions are on the first day and then rehearsals until the onstage performance the final evening. Campers imaginations will help create minimal set pieces as they focus on memorizing the songs and speaking lines. Poppy Lear and Amy Heetland lead
the camp.
Both camps will end in performances on stage at the State Theatre.
Friends, family and the general public will be invited.
Improv camp runs 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Musical Theatre camp
runs 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Visit the website at www.crossingsatcarnegie.com for details about
individual camp experiences, dates and prices and our well-qualified
instructors, and to register. Or, call or email us to request a brochure.
Scholarships available through the generosity of Zumbrota Community Trust.
