Machine On A Mission
When widespread floods and mudslides
destroyed the Vargas State of Venezuela.
Over 8,000 homes were swept away and
the countrys infrastructure crumbled, leaving
its citizens homeless and hopeless. Vermeer
Corporation responded to the crisis with their
first earth block press machine.
After the Venezuelan disaster, Vermeer
partnered with Dwell Earth to advance earth
block technology. The mission behind the
machine has remained the same. The BP714
provides an affordable and sustainable solution
to natural disasters and the critical housing
shortage all over the world.
Dwell Earth is proud to be the only company
that supports Vermeer in its mission to not
only construct dwellings, but reconstruct
lives. When combined with the expertise
and support of Dwell Earth, the machine
can produce compressed earth blocks from
existing natural resources to build homes,
churches, schools and more.

Robust compression chamber design

permits quick changing of wear plates to
produce blocks with either flat tops and
bottoms or self-aligning interlocking open
or self-aligning interlocking closed for
seamless joints.

Exclusive compression chamber delivers

even, consistent compression and threedimensional accuracy with less energy
to produce blocks of consistent height
regardless of regional conditions and soil
type availability.

The Press that Impresses

The BP714 is the latest technology in earth
block press equipment. The two-stage
compression system delivers a block that is
density and dimensionally consistent for the
first time in the industry. The capabilities of the
blocks can surpass current U.S. compressive
standards for concrete blocks.*
Unlike deforestation and air pollution
associated with clay brick and cement
block production, the BP714 manufactures
earth blocks with low to no impact on the
environment while creating a sustainable
product. Compressing a mixture of soil and
stabilizer makes blocks that use less material
per square meter (per square foot) than other
block press machines.
The BP714 is designed to be operator-friendly
and functional without electricity and can
produce four blocks a minute.

*Using Dwell Earths soil composition standards, blocks

produced by the BP714 meet the test requirements of
the U.S. Uniform Building Code Standard 21-9, Section
21.808, for Compressive Strength and section 21.909 for
Modulus of Rupture.

Large hopper design allows easy manual

loading with minimum spillage.

User-friendly simple, yet reliable,

hydraulic controls allow for use in
remote areas of the world where access
to sophisticated repair services is limited.

One third of the worlds population live in structures

made from the earth. The people who live in these
earthen structures range from, the poorest of the
poor in developing countries, to the richest of the
rich in developed countries. Dwell Earths mission
is to bridge this gap by providing innovative crosscultural building solutions using local resources
to transform lives by addressing critical housing
shortages.

With the BP714, we have been able to build on to

our missionary campus, which we use to provide
food, health care and shelter to people living with
little resources in rural South Africa. The block
press machine is at the core of our construction
business within the community, which is creating
jobs and improving lives for many families.
