1. COLLEGE AT A GLANCE
1.1 INTRODUCTION

Fifth Semester
Code

LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod is one of the most prestigious Self


financing Engineering College in Kerala. It is one of the two self financing
Engineering Colleges under LBS Centre for Science and Technology,
Thiruvananthapuram. The college started in 1993 under the auspices of L B
S Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram with B.Tech
Programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering,
Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and
Engineering. The college registered a steady growth and now offers B.Tech
Programs in 6 branches of engineering in addition to 3 M. Tech programs
and MCA. M.Tech Program in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal and fluid
engineering) started in 2012 and M.Tech programs in Electronics and
Communication Engineering (VLSI design and Signal Processing) and
Computer Science and Engineering (Computer Science and Information
Security) started in current academic year. B.Tech programs in Mechanical
Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and
Electronics Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering were
accredited by National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi.
The college campus at Povval is about 10 kms from the Kasaragod town,
the headquarters of the northernmost district of Kerala. The campus spreads
over an area of 52 acres of land and is about 12 km away from the Kasaragod
Railway Station and K.S.R.T.C Bus Station. The nearest Airport is Mangalore
Airport, which is about 75 km away from the College.
The college in the beginning was affiliated to the University of Calicut. Later,
when Kannur University was established in the year 1996 the college got
affiliated to the university.
L B S CENTRE FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY,
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM
The LBS Centre f or Science and Technology (LBSCS &T),
Thiruvananthapuram, the premier institute of computer training and
consultancy, registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and
Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1955 was established by
Government of Kerala in 1976. The Centre was started by the Government
of Kerala as an Autonomous body with the main objectives that the Centre
would act as a link between the industries and technical institutions so as
to benefit society through their mutual interactions. The Centre is administered

for Education is the Vice-Chairman. The Principal Secretary for Higher

Technical Education is its Vice-Chairman. The Director of the Centre is the
Member Secretary of both the bodies. He is the Executive head of the Centre.
There are Joint Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, Administrative
Officer, Finance Officer and other subordinate staff to help the Director in
administration and financial matters.

Mechanical engineering and M.Tech Program in Thermal and fluid engineering.
B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) was one among the 4 courses started when the
college was established in 1993. P.G Course started in the year 2012. The Department
has recorded a consistent academic excellence over the years. The department is
set up with all required infrastructure and human resources. The laboratories are

MECHATHLON

The department of mechanical engineering conducts annual intercollegiate


techno-management fest MECHATHLON comprising of technical
paper presentation, design contests, technical quiz & debate, informals,
exhibitions, project stalls etc. MECHATHLON brings the best minds in
the country challenging them to explore new possibilities in technology
and management. This Technical fest aims to amalgamate the innovative
ideas of young Engineers with experienced minds on the various latest
technological trends. MECHATHLON gives an opportunity to the young
technocrats to work as a team and forge their ideas into masterpieces.
This year, MECHATHLON will be conducted on 3,4, &5th of October.

Established in 1993, with an intake of 60 students for the program in Electrical &
Electronics Engg, the department now offers UG Program in Electrical & Electronics

2.3.3 Association activities
All the students of ECE department are members of ECE Association.
In 2011 a one day technical program -OPMAAK- was conducted. An
open house exhibition of working models was conducted, permitting
students from various schools to visit the campus.
2.3.4 Tech Riders
Along with academic curriculum several non academic activities are
organized for developing the technical skills of students. A Robotic club
and a hobby club were inaugurated in 2011.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING
Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in
the year 1993 and in the same year itself department has started offering
4 year B.Tech programme in Computer Science and Engineering with
an intake of 60. From this academic year onwards the department offers
M.Tech programme in Computer Science and Information Security. The
major strength of the department is highly qualified and experienced
faculty with specialization in main areas of computer science and
engineering and information technology. The number of intake for B.
Tech is increased to 90 from 2008 admissions. State-of-the-art facilities
are available in all the labs to train the students capable of meeting the
requirements of present and future. The Computer Science and
Engineering Department has constantly produced many university rank
holders. Department has close interaction with various leading industries
and educational institutions. Department conducts many value added
training programs to the students and staff frequently.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The IT Department started in the year 2000 with a sanctioned strength


of 60 students. The Department aims at offering a conducive environment
for academic excellence and stimulates students to excel in all areas of
technology. The Department has an excellent team of committed and
experienced faculty working towards the betterment of the student
society. The IT dept provides the most modern infrastructural facilities
and modern labs with 200 terminals on a LAN with 2Mbps Internet
connectivity. The IT dept lab (CCF) contains a Browsing Zone which
can accommodate up to 66 students at a time. The department has the
latest infrastructure facilities with high speed internet facilities, advanced
project labs, hardware labs, and seminar halls with LCD projector.

Ever since the starting of the institution the department has been providing

The members can retain the books with them for a period of
one month (30days) only. Overdue books will be charged with a
stipulated fine.

Members with long over dues will lose their library membership.

Books once lent out of the library should not be carried back
into the library before discharging the same at the Circulation
Counter.

A borrower borrowing a book shall note that the book is in sound


condition, before leaving the Circulation counter. He/she will be
responsible for any mutilation or damage caused to the book
after it is lent out. They shall have to make good of the damaged
book.

If the books borrowed is a part of a set or volumes & the same


is damaged or lost the borrower concerned shall be liable to
replace the whole set.

In case the lost books are not replaced with new one the
borrower will have to pay thrice the cost of the book.

Reference Books, Periodical publications, Dictionaries,


Encyclopedias, Handbooks & such other works that may be
declared as Reference Works by the Librarian shall not be lent
out of the Library.

Members shouldnt write, or make any marks in the materials


that are part of Library.

Tracing or mechanical reproduction (Photocopying / Scanning)


of the documents shall not be made without the permission of
the Librarian.

A member who loses the Borrowers Ticket shall lodge a written


complaint of the same to the Librarian. Duplicate tickets will be
issued in such cases only after a period of 30 days from such
notice & paying the prescribed fee. The Member shall be
responsible for any misuse of the Lost Borrowers ticket.

The Members are requested not to misplace the books from


one place to another; they shall leave the books on the reference
tables after consulting; the library staff will replace the books to
their respective positions.

Members are prohibited from - chatting, smoking, and carrying


the bags, umbrella boxes & other receptacles into the library.
They should not carry their personal books (reading materials)
into the library, except in special cases with the permission of
the librarian. Members are requested to keep their belongings
at the Property counter at entrance of the Library. However
they are advised not to leave cell phones, purse, money, credit
card and other valuables in the handbag outside the library. These
items are liable to be lost.

Strict and absolute silence shall be observed in the Library.

Under special circumstances, the librarian will have powers to


refuse admission into the library to any person or the use of any
book or material without assigning any reason.

MEMBERS WILL LEAD TO CANCELLATION OF THEIR

COLLEGE COUNCIL

The college council consists of the Principal, the Heads of departments,


administrative officer, warden, staff adviser, Librarian, and Joint Secretary
of PTA. The general administration of the college is by the Principal,
subject to the control of the Director of Technical Education. The council
is empowered to consider and report on any question concerning
accommodation, courses of instruction, or rules of discipline referred to
it by the Principal, but it shall not interfere in any manner with the general
administration of the college which is invested in the principal. All cases
of misconduct on the part of students, scholarships etc. will be dealt with
by the principal in consultation with the college council.

AMENITIES
5.1 CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY
Co-operative Society LBS College of Engineering Co-Operative Society
Ltd. S-219 was established in 1995 and is functioning in the
administrative block. Co-operative Society caters to the needs of the
students and staff of this College. The society supplies text books, note
books, drawing instruments, surveying instruments, uniform materials,
Syllabus, Lab Records, Various forms, Registers and other stationary
articles needed for the students and staff with discount rates. Besides
this, the college canteen is also being run by the Co-operative Society.
5.2 HOSTEL
The college provides hostel facilities for boys and girls with capacity 562
and 349 respectively. There are six hostels managed by LBSCE, out of
which one boys hostel and one girls hostel are within the campus and the
remaining are off campus hostels. Separate hostels are available for
first year students. All the hostels are provided with mess facilities. Mess
dividing system is followed in all the hostels. The elected mess committee
in each hostel manages the functioning of mess. The hostel inmates are
expected to follow the hostel rules strictly and as directed by warden
and resident tutors. The Hostels are headed by the Warden assisted by
the Resident Tutors. Mr. Vinod George, Associate Professor, CSED is
the warden.
5.2.1 HOSTEL RULES AND GUIDE LINES
1.
Allotment to various hostels shall be only for the students/staff
members of the institute.
2.
Priority for admission will be given to students based on the
distance from their home town.
3.
No students with unsatisfactory background such as involvement
in criminal cases will be given admission to hostels.
4.
Room allotment shall be carried out by the Resident Tutor/warden.
5.
Allotment given to the inmates is for a minimum period of one
year.
6.
Inmates vacating the hostel before completion of one year will
have to pay the establishment charge for twelve months. However,
inmates vacating the hostel on course completion are exempted
from this.

Inmates will not be permitted to change their allotted rooms without


permission of the authorities.
Inmates are responsible for all the hostel properties.
Causing damage to hostel properties will be seriously dealt with
and punitive actions will be taken against.
An undertaking will have to be made by each inmate at the time
of admission regarding the protection of hostel properties and
maintenance of hostel discipline.
Ragging is strictly banned and any such cases if noted will be
directly reported to the police authorities immediately.
Inmates are not supposed to use electric cookers, high volume
speakers etc. in the hostel.
In case of hostel shifting, the inmate will have to clear all the
previous dues before entry into a new hostel.
Inmate with any type of contagious disease will not be permitted
to stay in the hostel.
No outside person/previous students of the institute will be
permitted to enter into the hostel without the permission of hostel

Inmates shall be responsible for their own belongings and doors/
cupboards should be properly locked before leaving rooms.
All the lights and fan will have to be switched off before leaving
the room.
Spoiling hostel walls by writing/sketching is not permitted.
Usage of alcohol/narcotics etc. is strictly prohibited.
Inmates are not supposed to organize any meetings/function
without prior permission of the authorities.
Shifting furniture from one room to another is not permitted.
No furniture/fittings /movable property shall be taken into or taken
out without the permission of authorities.
Hoisting flags or fixing posters/other decorative items of political
parties in the hostel is not permitted.
Storage of weapons/steel rods/metal pieces etc. in the hostel is
not permitted.
Hostel inspection team is authorized to inspect any room/area of
the hostel at any time.

magazines etc. to their rooms without the permission of authorities.
Only half of the rent will be charged for the inmate for the stay of
first half/second half of the month in the hostel.

Mess, Hygiene and discipline


1.
A mess committee will be elected for each month by the authorities
for the smooth conduct of hostel mess.
2.
The mess committee shall be responsible for the hostel hygiene,
minimization of food wastage, quality of food etc.
3.
The menu of food items for the month shall be published by the
mess committee in advance.
4.
Application for availing mess cut should be submitted to the mess
committee at least one day before.
5.
A mess secretary will be elected from the members of the mess
committee for initiating major activities of the committee.
6.
Hostel mess is meant for the inmates of the hostel. However
guests can take food on a payment basis.
7.
Maximum number of mess cuts an inmate can claim per month is
15 days. However the authorities can treat it as special in case of
genuine situations like Ramzan season, carrying out project work
etc.
8.
A minimum of continuous 5 days of mess cut should be there for
availing mess cut.
9.
Extra food items can be availed by the inmate on an extra payment
basis.
10. Mess bill for each month can be paid without fine till the end of
the next month.
11. A fine of Rs.100/-will be charged for the payment after the last
date and thereafter, Rs.10/-per day will be charged as fine.
12. Visitors will have to enter the details in the visitors register.
13. Inmates moving out of the hostel after 10.30 p.m.in any situation
will have to enter details in the movement register.
14. Inmates will have to produce their ID card at any time if asked by
the authorities/security guard.

For classification of successful candidates only the marks secured


in the subject in which they have passed or improved their marks
will be considered even though in an earlier attempt they had failed
or secured lower marks in the same subject.

5.

Successful candidates who complete all the examinations in 4


academic years (8 consecutive semesters) shall be ranked branch
wise on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in the university
examinations alone of all the semesters.

6.

For the purpose of rank, the lateral entry students to B. Tech


(Engg) programme shall not be considered as the rank is based on
the total marks in I&II to VIII semesters.

7.

Classification for the lateral entry students shall be given based


on the percentage of marks obtained in III to VIII semesters.

8.

The final mark list of the lateral entry scheme should indicate that
a) the student was admitted through lateral entry scheme and b)
classification is based on percentage of marks in III to VIII
semesters.

9.

A candidate will be qualified for degree only if he/she completes


the course and passes all the semester examinations within seven
academic years (six academic years in the case of LES) since
his/her admission to the course.

10.

The final mark list should indicate the college in which the candidate
has studied.

14.12.

Industrial interaction

All students shall undergo an industrial interaction programme either by


attending training programme for a minimum of five days in a registered
industry/Govt. establishment/Research institute or by visiting at least 5
reputed industries / engineering establishments. They have to submit a
report of the industrial interaction programme in the 8th semester. A
maximum of 25 marks is included for the industrial interaction programme
in the marks for the project work in the 8 th semester. The project
evaluation committee will evaluate and award the marks for the industrial
interaction programme. The industrial interaction programme shall be
completed during vacations /holidays taking not more than 3 working
days combined with holidays.

A candidate who has failed in only one subject (theory and practical
put together) in a semester examination in his/her first attempt shall
be permitted to reappear for only two subjects of the semester
concerned for improvement of marks without cancelling the earlier
examination.

3.

A candidate, who has failed in two subjects (theory and practical


put together) in a semester examination in his or her first attempt,
shall be permitted to reappear for only one subject of the semester
concerned for improvement of marks without cancelling the earlier
examination.

4.

A candidate, who has failed in three or more subjects in a semester


examination in his/her first attempt, shall not be permitted to
reappear for improvement of marks in any of the subjects.

5.

The reappearance for improvement for eligible subjects should be


made only in the immediate chance following the semester in which
he/she has undergone the course.

14.11. Classification of Successful candidates


1.
A candidate who qualifies for the Degree passing all the subjects
of the eight semesters within five academic years(4 in case of
LES) after commencement of his course of study and has secured
not less than 75% of the aggregate of the total marks in all the 8
semesters assigned to the university examination and sessional
evaluation together and not less than 70% separately for the
university examinations shall be declared to have passed the
B.Tech (Engineering) Degree Examination in First Class with
honours.
2.

A candidate who qualifies for the Degree passing all the subjects
of the eight semesters within five academic years after
commencement of his course of study and has secured not less
than 60% of the aggregate of the total marks in all the 8 semesters
assigned to the university examination and sessional evaluation
together and not less than 55% separately for the university
examinations shall be declared to have passed the B.Tech
(Engineering) Degree Examination in First Class.

Creating a noisy environment in the hostel, causing disturbances


in any form to other inmates of the hostel etc. are not permitted.
Mens hostel (MH1, MH2, MH3) entrance will be closed at
09.00.p.m.

Ladies hostel entrance will be closed at 6.00 p.m.
Violation of hostel rules will invite punitive actions.
Amendments of hostel rules will be made at proper time by the

The College operates college buses for the convenient transport of staff
and students. At present the college own four buses and the service is
available from Kanhangad, Kasaragod railway station and the hostels
outside the college campus.
5.4 CANTEEN
A fully equipped canteen is functioning within the campus for convenience
of the staff and students.
5.5 BANK
A fully computerized branch of Central Bank of India is functioning in
the campus. The working time of the branch is between 10.00 AM to
4.30 PM. The bank also provides ATM facility within the campus.

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is actively involved in helping

c) Viva-voce examinations in the 8th semester will be conducted
by a team of one internal examiner and one external examiner,
duly appointed by the university. The students shall produce the
certified reports of seminar, project and industrial interaction at
the time of viva-voce examination. 70% marks shall be allotted
for subject knowledge and 30% for seminar, project and industrial
interaction.
14.9.

Minimum for a pass

1.

Candidates who secure not less than 50 % marks in a subject at


the university examination shall be declared to have passed in the
examination in that subject, irrespective of the sessional marks
awarded for that subject. A candidate who secures not less than
40% marks in the subject at the university examination and not less
than 50% of the total marks assigned to the subjects, which include
the marks assigned to the university examination and sessional
assessment , shall also be declared to have passed the examination
in that subject.

2.

The pass mark for Project, Seminar, Viva Voce and subjects having
only either sessional evaluation or university examination alone shall
be 40% of the total marks assigned to that subject. Candidates
failing in the above subjects have to complete/repeat the
requirements again so as to secure a pass minimum of 40%. There
is no minimum mark for pass or fail for the Physical education,
Health and Fitness program.

14.10. Improvement of marks


1.

A candidate who has made his/her first successful attempt in any


semester examination and secured a complete pass in the semester
examination in the first attempt shall be permitted to reappear for
improvement of marks in a maximum of three subjects ( theory
and practical put together) without cancelling the earlier examination.

Every candidate shall register for the examination. A candidate


who does not register for the examination shall not be permitted to
attend next semester

between the different departments of the college and their family. Staff
club is involving in coordinating activities of common interest among the
staff.

II)

Eligibility for appearing examination is subject to thefollowing

a)

He/she must secure not less than 75% attendance (including duty
leave) in the number of working hours during the first year and in
each semester thereafter and shall be physically present for a
minimum of 65% (excluding duty leave) of the total working hours.

b)

Maximum permissible duty leave shall be 10% of the total working


hours.

c)

He/she must earn a progress certificate from the Principal of having


satisfactorily completed the course of study prescribed in the
semester as required by these regulations.

6.5 NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME


The National Service Scheme (NSS) was evolved and introduced by
the Government of India in the year 1969. It aims at developing amongst
students a sense of participation in nation building through Social Work.
This deepens understanding of the social environment and enriches his/
her personality through actual participation in day-to-day life of the society.
This process of learning is not only a desirable supplement to the
classroom education but develops in the student a sense of responsibility,
tolerance and cooperation. The college has implemented the NSS and
the unit is functioning with full vigor and enthusiasm. NSS provides
opportunities to teachers and students to gain valuable practical
experiences of community service.

III) It shall be open to the Vice Chancellor to grant condonation


ofshortage of attendance on the recommendation of Principal
inaccordance with the following norms.
a)

The shortage shall not be more than 10%.

b)

Shortage of attendance up to 20% shall be condoned only once


during the entire course provided such shortage is caused by
continuous absence on genuine medical grounds.

c)

Shortage of attendance shall not be condoned more than three times


during the entire course.

IV) A candidate who is not eligible for condonation of attendance shall


repeat the course, when it is offered again.
V) The university will conduct examinations for all subjects (Theory,
Drawing & practical)
a) The scheme of valuation will be decided by the chief examiner
for theory/ drawing subjects.
b) For practical examinations the internal and external examiners
together will decide the division of marks to be awarded. The
student shall produce the certified record of the work done in the
laboratory for the examination. The evaluation of the candidate
should be done as per the guidelines given below.

6.6 ALUMNI ASSOCIATION


Alumni Association has a significant role in keeping the old students in
touch with the campus. Several chapters of this association are active
in various metros of India and foreign countries and they share the latest
technical knowhow with those in the campus. Several alumni frequently
visit the campus and interact with the students. Notable contribution of
this association is evident in the form of a number of on and off campus
recruitments that takes place.
6.7 ISTE
The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a national,
professional, nonprofit making society and the main objective of which
is to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality
engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other
organizations. The college chapter of ISTE organizes different training
programs, seminars, talks, etc on the fields of engineering, technology
and management which would enhance the professional knowledge of
the students.
6.8 NATURE CLUB
A nature club is functioning in the campus. This club, in which both staff
members and students are active members, is diligently pursuing its dream
of a green, beautiful and environment friendly campus.

ROAD SAFETY CLUB
In order to create awareness on road traffic aspects and to educate
road users about traffic rules, traffic regulations and other related matters
a road safety club is formulated and working actively within the campus.
By conducting classes and photo exhibitions by experts from the motor
vehicles department, the club develops skill among the students for taking
appropriate action in various traffic situations. The club also works as
volunteer forum for aiding trauma care activities and assist in enforcement

DELITE-Debate & Literary Club

The DEbate & LITErary club (DELITE) had started in the college in
December, 2006, with an aim to nurture the literary activities in the college.
At present Mr. Dileep V.K, Asst. Professor in Computer Science &
Engineering is the Staff Co-Ordinator of the club.

Every teacher is required to maintain an attendance and assessment


record which consists of attendance marked in each lecture or practical
or project work class, the assignment marks, the test paper marks and
the record of topics covered, separately for each course. This should be
submitted to the head of the department for periodic checking. The head
of the department will put his signature and date after due verification.
At the end of the semester, the head of institution will keep this document
in safe custody. The university or any inspection team appointed by the
university may inspect the records of both current and previous
semesters. The sessional marks shall be published in the department
within 20 days after the termination of the classes, so as to incorporate
corrections, if any, before sending to the university.
14.8.
Examination
I) There shall be University Examinations at the end of the first
academic year and at the end of every semester from third semester
onwards in subjects as prescribed in the scheme of examination.

14.2. Duration of the course


a)
The course for the B.Tech. Degree shall extend over a period of
four academic years comprising of 8 semesters. The first and
second semester combined and each semester from third semester
onwards shall cover the groups of subjects as given in the scheme
of studies and examinations.
b)
Each semester shall normally comprise of 16 weeks.
14.3. Eligibility for the Degree
Candidates for admission to the Degree of B.Tech. shall be required to
have undergone the prescribed course of study in an institution maintained
or affiliated to Kannur University for a period of not less than four
academic years and to have passed all examinations specified in the
scheme. The first academic year of study shall be from the date of
commencement of admission till the closure of the academic year. All
examinations should be passed within seven years (6 years in case of
LES) since his/her admission to B.Tech programme.

raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or
asking the students to do any act or perform something which such
student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of

14.
UNIVERSITY REGULATINS
14.1. Conditions for admission
Candidates for admission to the B.Tech. Degree course shall be required
to have passed the higher secondary/+2/XII Std. examination conducted
by boards/departments recognized/accepted by the University or the
diploma examination in Engineering, Kerala or any examination accepted
by the Government of Kerala as equivalent there to , with conditions as
prescribed by the Kerala state Government rules.

the event of a student falling shortage of attendance at the end of
semester, condonation will be recommended only if they produce record
to prove that the medical leave had been applied for and granted on
time.
12.3. DUTY LEAVE
Students are eligible for duty leave for representing the college in activities
like sports, games, arts etc. and to participate in the college union and
department association activities. Duty leave can be recommended only
by the faculty members who are authorized to do so. Duty leave should
be submitted to the designated authority (Class Tutor/ HOD), preferably
before the duty is performed or soon after returning from the duty, but
not later than three working days. After the duty leave has been
sanctioned, the students must meet the respective staff members from
whose classes they were absent and request them to mark the duty
leave granted in their attendance register. The maximum limit of duty
leave, which can be granted to a student during a semester, is 10% of
the number of working days in that semester. However, in exceptional
cases prior permission of the Principal should be obtained to get duty
leave in excess of 10%. Students who do not satisfy the attendance
requirements as per the university regulations will not be permitted for
the university examinations.
13.

DISCIPLINE, CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOUR

1.

All students should follow the uniform dress code of the college
inside the campus. Dress properly and neatly, befitting to a
professional college.

2.

Behavior of the students, both within and outside the college


premises should be decent and befitting to a professional institution

The student should move silently when proceeding from one class
to another without disturbing classes at work.

4.

No student shall leave the class before the class is dispersed or


without the permission of the teacher-in-charge of the class.

Students are prohibited from organizing or attending meetings on

12.
ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE REGULATIONS
Students are expected to attend all classes without fail. If for unavoidable
reasons, leave for absence is required, permission from the competent
authority should be taken as given below.
12.1. ORDINARY LEAVE
Leave Application for ordinary leave should be submitted to the Class
Advisor concerned, who is competent to sanction leave to a maximum
of 3 days at a time. For periods beyond three days at a time, the Heads
of Departments will be the sanctioning authority. Applications for ordinary
leave should be submitted within three days from the date of return from
leave.
12.2. MEDICAL LEAVE
Students can apply to the Head of the Department, through the Class
Tutor, for leave on medical grounds with relevant certificates within three
working days after returning to the college, if the absence is not exceeding
one week. If it exceeds one week, student/parent must inform the
concerned Class Tutor/ Head of the Department regarding the leave
and shall submit the relevant documents on return to the college. The

submit self-attested copies of all mark lists up to 6th semester along


with the application.
Admission shall normally be restricted to those with valid GATE
score. However, this stipulation is relaxed in the case of sponsored
candidates.
In case seat remains vacant due to lack of candidates with valid
GATE score, candidates form Kerala State without valid GATE
score will be considered against such vacancies. Even if seats are
still remaining vacant, candidate from other states will be considered
for admission.

M.C.A. COURSE
Candidate for admission to the MCA course shall be required to
have one of the following qualifications.
BCA, B Sc in Computer Science / IT / Electronics.
B Tech with 50% aggregate in all semesters put together.
B. Sc / B Com or Equivalent with Mathematics or Statistics (This
does not include Business Mathematics/statistics) as one of the
optional subjects, 50% marks aggregate and 60% marks in optional.
5% relaxation in marks for SEBC candidates and pass minimum
for SC/ST students as per government rules.
Selection of candidates to all seats will be made on the basis of
the rank obtained in the Entrance Test subject to rules.

9. DRESS CODE

All students should dress modestly when in the campus.

Boys should tuck in their shirts and they should wear a black
coloured belt of width 2.5 cm.

10.1 B.TECH DEGREE COURSE


Candidates included in the entrance rank list published by CEE, Kerala
and admission to the Engineering course should otherwise satisfy the
rules regarding the minimum academic requirements in the qualifying
examination enumerated as follows:
a) Higher Secondary Examination/equivalent: Pass with 50%
marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry
& Mathematics put together.
b) 3-year Diploma engineering/equivalent: Pass with 50% marks
in the final Diploma examination.
c)Relaxation in Marks: Candidates belonging to Socially &
Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) with a total annual
family income up to Rs.2.5 lakhs will get a relaxation of 5%
marks i.e. 45% marks in mathematics and 45% marks in

Candidates who have a diploma in Engineering awarded by the State
