Four Step Theory

THIS sets down the essential rules given by Mr. Sunil Gondhalekar in his Lessons, written in the
K.P.Style. The Basic principle of KP is that A Planet gives the results indicated by its Star Lord and Sub
Lord.
THE FOUR STEPS TO DETERMINE HOUSES SIGNIFIED BY ANY PLANET ARE:
1. The Planet itself (House residence, Houses Owned)
2. The Star Lord of the Planet: (Same house resident, houses owned)
3. The SUB LORD of the Planet:
4. The Star Lord of this sub lord:
For prediction, we have to consider that all houses, are signified by the Planet, some Primarily, and
some Secondarily

First Step
THE 1ST STEP in the 4 step Theory is: A Planet becomes the Significator of the HOUSE where it
resides, and of the House/Houses It OWNS
This rule is modified depending on wether there are other planets in the STARS of this Planet, and
wether the Houses owned are Empty or have some other planets in them. (Hers,Neptune,Pluto,For are
not considered for this conditions.
IF THERE ARE NO PLANETS IN THE STARS OF THE PLANET,(the planet is not the Star Lord of any
other planet) THEN it becomes THE PRINCIPAL Significator of the House where it Resides. Otherwise,
it becomes a secondary Significator of the House where it resides.
If a PLANET Is Primary significator of Residence, then it becomes the Principal of the houses owned
ONLY IF THAT HOUSE IS EMPTY, otherwise it is the secondary significator of the house owned
If the Planet is itself a SECONDARY significator of House of RESIDENCE then it will be also Secondary
Significator of Houses owned EVEN IT EMPTY.
IF A PLANET IS IN ITS OWN STAR, then it Automatically becomes the Primary significatro of the House
of residence (even if there other planets in its stars). It becomes pricipal significator of houses it owns, if
empty

Second Step
SECOND STEP: The Star LORD OF THE PLANET UNDER CONSIDERATION
In this step, the STAR LORD automatically Becomes the Principal Significator of the House of
Residence, and Of the Houses owned, if Empty.
FOR RAHU AND KETU same rules apply. Rahu/Ketu get addittionl representation as Representative of
the Lord of house where they Reside

Third Step
THIRD STEP: The sub Lord of the Planet:
The houses signified are determined as per 1st step only

Fourth Step
Fourth step: The Star Lord of Sub Lord
The houses are found applyin the same rules as Second Step
Another point is to consider Signifcators by conjunction(3.33 deg) between planets, as also signifed by
the planet considered. The conjoined planet acts as an agent of the planet to which it is conjoined.

Practical Application
Child birth: When?
Rule: The 5th (as qurrent is lady) Sub Lord must be the Primary significator of 2nd/5th/or 11th. Only if
this is positive then we fix the time. 5th sub Lord is Mercury: The houses signified by this Planet are
found to be
Mer:
8P,9,6P (Mer in 8th:Noplanets in Mer Stars: 9,not empty.6th empty)
Star Lo: Ven: 8P,10,5 (Star Lord hence P: Houses owned not empty no Not P)
SUB : Mars :10P,11,4
StL of SUB :Sat: 9P,2eP,1eP
The 5th Sub Lord has become the Principal Significator of 2nd in the fourth step: THERFORE we
conclude that lady will have children:
To fix time, we must now test the Dasa,Bhukti,& Antara Lords. Moon Dasa balance 6 months,28 days.
We cannot consider this as birth of a child is not possible in 6/7 months. So consider next MARS dasa
Check the houses signified by Dasa Lord Mars:(all 4 steps to be seen)
1st step Mars: 10P,11,4
2nd
Sat : 9P,1P,2P
3rd
Ven : 8P,10,5
4th
Ven : 8P,10,5
Since Mars is Primary Sig of 2nd House, this can be selected.
IMPORTANT: IN SELECTING THE DASA/BHUKTI/ANTARA , we MUST see that all the Houses 2,5,11
are signified :
Since we have selected Mars Dasa, which signifies 2 primarily, the Bhukti Lord must primarily signify 5 or
11 :Antara should signify the remaining
Now in Mars Dasa, we have to ignore Mars Bhukti, as only 2nd house is signified:
Next RAHU :He is PS of 7 and 8: Though he is SS of 5th we pass on
NEXT JUPITER: He is PS of 11,12,10,4,8
Since the 11th is found in the pricipal significators, We SELECT THAT AS BHUKTI:
Next is Antara: The Antara Lord has to be the PS of the remaining 5th house: When looking thru other
Planets, we get MOON as Primarily signifinficator.
5th in the 1st itself. So we select this.
The period thus is 3/5/1987 to 31/5/1987. The birth took place in June 87.
The Ayanamsa used was later corrected. This adds 13 days to the Dasa endins etc. So the timimg is
fairly correct.

Below is an elaborate example for Marriage.

The Question to be Answered is the Marriage of the Native.
Apply KP rule: 7th cusp Sub Lord must signify 2,7, or 11.
In the present case 7th cusp Sub lord is Venus. Now see his significance He signigies 7th Principally at
Step 4. The secondary signification is not considered. SO THE NATIVE WILL MARRY .
NEXT QUESTION WHEN ?
When the question was asked Ven Dasa running for one month only.
Next Dasa of SUN is selected:
Sun in 1st step is Principal significator of 11th and 7th.
So Sun Dasa and Sun Bhukti is selected.
NOW WE HAVE TO GET THE 3RD SIGNIFICANCE FOR HOUSE 2.
An examination of the Planets and Houses signified shows that only SAT principally signifies the 2nd. So
the marriage is predicted to take place in SUN DASA: SUN BHUKTI: SAT ANTARA;
This period is 5/12/2000 to 22/12/2000. But during this period Saturn is RETROGRADE. So this was not
selected. Take MOON Bhukti: Moon is Principal sig of 7th, Sun of 11th
Take Sat antara for 2nd, thus complete the chain.
This period comes 19/4/2001 to 18/5/2001. This period was predicted for Marriage.
THE MARRIAGE WAS CELEBRATED ON 18/4/2001.
This is from Nakshtra Dena of Divali 2001.

ssCase Study
Case Study 004: Nehas Marriage!

On 4 February 2013, Neha consulted me regarding her marriage. She looked quite worried; quite
obviously, as she was in early thirties then and there were no signs of any marriage proposals.
I said to Neha Dont worry, your would be husband is already born on this planet earth, let us find out
when he will meet you
When will Neha tie the knot?
KP Horary answered, as usual, with confidence and certainty.
For Nehas case I decided use horary techniques. My experience tells that for such question like marriage,
job, real estate etc Horary is the best way to go. Birth chart often fails to pin point such incidences
happening in ones life. Horary chart is like magnifying glass, enlarging only certain period in ones life
to see events that usually cant be revealed through birth chart.
Inaccurate birth time is the biggest obstacle in using birth chart, at least while using KP for KP is a sublord theory and couple of minutes error in birth chart could change a sub lord and that in turn would
change the chart drastically, from Mr Narendra Modi to Mr Arvind Kejriwal.
Many astrologer (KP especially) resort to some kind of Birth time rectification , in KP ruling planets
based birth time rectification is quite common and popular too. But I have some reservations here, I stick
to the more scientific method of birth time rectification, when I say scientific it means repeatability. In
my method, I collect major life events and cross check with both static and dynamic planetary
combinations in the birth chart. I use many timing methods such as Solar arcs, Secondary Progressed
Moon, Tertiary progression, Age Harmonics and Uranian Planetary pictures. But this all takes
considerable time and efforts. A large amount of data is required and many time a face to face meeting
with the client is also required, To do all this, I need to charge a lot more and many client are not ready to
compensate for it neither they are ready to wait till I finish my analysis
Most of people approaching me in fact want it for free! Yes you heard it correctly, they want it free as if
getting free readings is their birth right, I ask why? These guys are certainly not that poor who cant
afford a square meal a day. They happily spend even bigger sums on daily basis on Hotels, fast food,
movies, clothing, internet, cell phones and what not, But they are not willing spend couple of hundred
rupees for a valuable astrological advice. They tip the waiter in a restaurant (and mind you it could be
more than Rs 100) what that waiter does for you, hauling dishes prepared by the cook to you, noting more
than this. But when an astrologer who had studied this art for 15+ years , and spending hours to analyze
the chart and providing some insight that could change their life ,they are not ready to compensate those
efforts.
Anyway, back to Neha and her problem.
KP is best suited for Horary (Prashna), to use KP for Natal chart we must have a highly accurate birth
time in the tune of +/- 2 minutes, this itself is the biggest deterrent. We all know that it is rare to have the
birth time recorded to such accuracy. And when we are dealing with birth happened some 40-50 years ago
then just forget it, you are lucky if we get a birth time within +/-15 minutes. For Horary, we fix the time,

if needed to 1 second or better, hence sub-lords are accurate and so the theory works only on such
accurate charts.
I use KP exclusively for Horary work, for general chart analysis I use Vedic and western method, for
character analysis, psychological analysis and personality studies I use Uranian Astrology, Cosmobiology
and sometime Handwriting Analysis.
Even many veteran KP Scholars had so far endorsed directly / indirectly that KP is good only for Horary.
But using Horary is always an easy going as it appears from KP literature. In order to work first of all we
need to understand of essence of Prasna Shastra or Horary, the whole concept is based on some divine
principle, and the time at which the question is asked (or the horary number used in KP) is sort of help
coming from the Super Powers. So this super power is going to help someone only when that person is
pretty serious about knowing the answers, means there must be extreme urge, honesty, sincerely and
above all faith in astrology. Any doubts, fear, uncertainty, questioning mind, casual approach, mockery,
testing of any kind, all hampers the process. Answer is going to be wrong as starting itself is on a wrong
foot.
But deciding the genuineness or urge itself is very subjective and daunting task, there no method via
which we decide that the query is genuine and there is extreme urge behind it. No thermometer like
instrument available to check this aspect. We have to rely either on our common sense or some intuitive
powers.
Whenever client approaches you dont rush to ask him/her the KP number. But allow the person to relax
for a while, once the person is well settled and relaxed slowly come to the point. Ask the person to
concentrate on the issue and generate the number. At the same time dont make it a kind of ritual or sort of
it. People often gets scared by it and might run away thinking that it is something black magic or else.
Back to Neha and her query. I explained in brief about how horary chart works and requested Neha to
generate a Horary number while concentrating on the issue that is marriage when
She thought for a while and gave me this number of 11
A Horary chart made using this number is printed below.
Horary Number: 11 (249)
Time: 17:30:57
Date: 04 February 2013
Place: Nashik (Maharashtra)
Ayanamsha: KPNEW 23:56:59

Software: KPStar One

The very first thing we need to check the position of the Moon, where she is located in which house, in
which Star etc. Means we need to find out houses signified by the Moon, because the Moon always
reflects our mind. So whatever the Moon is signifying is an indication of the thoughts that were
dominating that person s mind at the time of asking the query (or generating number), we must see that

the querent is concentrating on the query , so the Moon must signify the houses related to the query being
asked.
Here in this case, Nehas query was regarding her marriage, so naturally her mind must have been
thinking about marriage at the time of generating the number and eventually the Moon we reflect this
indeed that was the case.
Now in KP for marriage three houses are considered:
2: Increase in family / addition to the family
7: Married life partner/ spouse
11: Fulfillment of desires
7th is considered the main or principle house for issues related to marriage.
Now if the Moon is signifying any of these three house (not necessarily all , any one or two from the
group would suffice) we can safely assume that querent is asking a genuine question and there is some
urge for knowing the answer. (However this is not an indication that the answer is going to be an
affirmative one that we need to figure out later) at this stage what we could possibly figure out that the
question is genuine and asked with some good intention.
Lets have a look at the Moon first,
(Signification is written as: A grade / B grade / C grade / D grade)
Moon is in 7th, owner of 4th, she is in the star of Saturn who is in 7th and owns 10th and 11th; means Moon
is significator of 7/7/10, 11/4.
The Moon is signifying 7 and 11, two houses for Marriage; this clearly suggests that the question is
genuine and asked with due urgency and intensity.
Sometimes it happens that the Moon doesnt signify any of the concerned houses, this would mean, the
querent was thinking something else while generating the Horary number or the querent my not be
sincere enough or it is just that the time is not appropriate for the question being asked. In such situation it
is better to not to answer the question at that particular moment but advice the querent to come at a later
date / time when his/her mind is clam and concentrated on the query.
Now next step is to check whether the marriage is promised or not. The cuspal sub-lord of 7 th would give
the clues. 7th is the principle house for marriage.
At this stage we need to check to things:

1.

The cuspal sub-lord of principle house must not be in the Star of a retrograde planet, the cuspal
sub-lord himself may be retrograde at that moment but its Star lord must be in direct motion. If the
cuspal sub-lord is in the Star of a retrograde planet then we need not proceed any further, as this
would indicate the answer to bee negative, it clearly suggests that the event is not going to happen.
But I remind you here that this doesnt mean the event (marriage in his case) never happen in the
entire life span of the querent, not at all, Horary has a very narrow / limited time span of say six
months to one year , so all this could mean is that event wont happen in the near future for sure but it
may happen at a later date beyond the limit set for Horary , That s why I always insists my clients to
fix some time limit while framing the question instead of Will I ever get married better to ask Will
I get married within next six month / one year

2.

Second check point is , the cuspal sub-lord must signify at least one house form the set of houses
responsible for the event , for marriage those are 2,7,11 (occasionally 5,8). If the cuspal sub-lord is not
signifying any of these house then it also indicates that the event wont be manifesting , But again as I
said in the check point one above, this is only for certain limited time span and event may manifest at
a later date but at present the answer is negative. Under this situation we need not proceed any further

Here in this case, 7th cuspal sub-lord is Venus and it is in the sub of Sun, as Sun never retrogrades, so our
first condition is fulfilled.
Venus is 10th and lord of 3rd and 7th, Venus is in the Star of Sun, Sun is in 10th and lord of 5th means Venus
is signifying 10/10/5/2,7
Our second condition is also fulfilled as Venus is signifying 2nd and 7th.
We reached our first mile stone, at least we can say here that there are chances of Neha getting married in
the near future, but it is still a probability. We need to check Dasha, Bhukti, and Antara as well as transits
to check whether this probability converts into reality or else.
At the query time Saturn Dasha was going on till 13 may 2031. Lets check whether Saturn promises a
marriage or not.
Saturn is in 7th, lord of 10th and 11th Saturn is Rahus Star; Rahu is in 7 th means Saturns significance is:
7/7/-/10, 11
Saturns strong significance of 7th House confirms that Saturn is very much in favor for marriage, sure,
marriage is going to happen in this Saturn Dasha. But we must check sub of this Saturn Dasha lord.
Saturn is in Venus Sub, we have checked Venuss significance and that is 10 / 10 / 5 / 2, 7 means not only
Dasha lord Saturn is favorable but its Sub is also pretty much favorable for marriage.
But this Saturn Dasha is going to run till 2031, some 18 years to go. We must narrow it down to month /
week or day! So let us check all remaining Bhukti, Antara within this Saturn Dasha.
At the query time, Saturn Dasha and Saturn Bhukti was going on , as Bhukti of Dasha lord is always
stronger and should be given preference (however for that Dasha lord must be a very string significator

for the event, preferably Dasha lord must be signifying the principle house for the query under
consideration)
So far we concluded on Saturn Dasha and Saturn Bhukti, but Saturn Bhukti period is quite bill running till
16th May 2015, means almost 2 years are balance. This is not narrow enough; we must go further down.
Let us check all Antara within Saturn Bhukti.
We have following Antara here:
1.

Mercury: Till 7 Apr 2013

2.

Ketu: Till 10 June 2013

3.

Venus: Till 10 December 2013

4.

Sun: Till 3 February 2014

5.

Moon: Till 6 May 2014

6.

Mars: Till 9 July 2014

7.

Rahu: Till 20 December 2014

8.

Jupiter: Till 16 may 2014

Horary chart is meant only for a short duration; here we have set up a limit of a year or so. Means Antara
of Mars, Rahu and Jupiter are beyond our chosen time span, so I decided to drop those Antara. May be we
can revisit them as a last resort.
Saturn is a very strong significator of 7 th and rather weak significator of 11th, means we need somebody
with a very strong significance of 2 nd and at the same time we need to see that that it must not strongly
signify opposition houses (1, 6, 10, 8, and 12)
At this stage I am going to tell a lesser known but quite powerful rule in KP, so please pay attention.
When a house is empty and there are no planets in the house lords Stars, then House lord becomes the
only (sole) significator of that house. But when such situation occurs check for any planet/s posited in the
Sub of that house lord. (Means you need to check planet/s whose sub lord this hours lord. If we find any
such planet then that planet becomes a significator of that house under consideration. It happens
sometimes that there are no planets in the house lords start and also no planets with this house lord as a
sub, then go further down and check for any planets whose sub-sub lord is our house lord.
Let us check other houses (both flavoring to and opposing to marriage) and apply this rule.

2nd House: The house is empty! House lord is Venus. No planets are in Venus Star. Means we have Venus
as the sole significator for 2nd. /././ Venus.
Here we need to apply the rule. Check whether there is any planet whose sub is Venus. We have Sun,
Mercury, Venus, Rahu and Saturn having Venus as their sub. All these planets now become significator of
2nd house.
2nd House; / - / Sun, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Rahu / Venus.
11th House: Mercury and Mars are posited in 11 th, no planets in Mercury Stars, while mercury is Mars
Star. 11th house lord is Saturn; Moon is in Saturns Star. So significator for 11 th house are: Mercury /
Mercury, Mars / Moon / Saturn.
6th House: No planets in the house. House lord is Mercury, no planets in Mercurys Star. Means we have
only Mercury as the only significator of 6 th House. /.// Mercury. Here we need o apply the rule
mentioned above. So who is in Mercury sub then, no one! Let us go further down, who is in Mercury
Sub-Sub? Yes Moons sub-sub lord is Mercury! So we got Moon as significator for 6 th house, its rank is
above the House lord Mercury. So final significance for 6 th is : // Moon/ Mercury.
10th House: Venus and Sun are in 10 th, no planets in Venus Star while Venus and Ketu are in Suns Star.
10th house lord is Saturn. Moon is in Saturns Star. So significator for 10 th house are: Venus, Ketu / Venus,
Sun / Moon / Saturn.
1st House; Ketu and Jupiter are in 1st, no planets in Ketus Star, Rahu is in Jupiters Star, 1 st lord is Mars,
and Mercury is in Mars Star. So significator for 1st house are: Rahu / Jupiter, Ketu / Mercury/ Mars.
Now back to selection of Antara.
In Saturn Bhukti, at present Mercury Antara is going on. Mercury is in 11 th, owns 3rd and 5th. Mercury is
in the Star of Mars; Mars is in 11 th and owns 1st and 8th. Mercury is a strong significator 1 st by the special
rule we checked earlier. Means Mercury is signifying: 8, 6 and 1, this is not good for marriage. So let us
drop Mercury Antara as it is is certainly not favorable for marriage.
Next Antara is of Ketu. Ketu is in 1st, its Start lord is Sun, Sun is in 10 th and owns 5th. Ketu and Saturn are
in aspect, means Ketu will signify all the houses given by Saturn. Saturn significance as we know is: 7 /
7 / /. Ketu is in Mars sign means Ketu would give results of houses signified by Mars, Mars is
signifying 11th 1st and 8th. Though Ketu is a strong significator of 7 th by means of aspecting Saturn, it is
also signifying 10th, 1st and 8th further it is not signifying the 2 nd house which we are desperately looking
for. Thus Ketu Antara is not at all favorable for marriage.
Next Antara is of Venus, we have already cheeked significance of Venus and that is 10 / 10 / 5 / 2, 7.
Venus is in conjunction with Sun, so Venus will signify all houses signified by Sun. We have seen that
Sun is 10th, owns 5th, Sun is in the Star on Moon and Moon is in 7th and owns 4th. We have seen that Sun
signifies 2nd by means of special rule. So Venus final significance is: 2, 7 / 10 / 4 / 5. Means Venus is
favorable for marriage.

Next Anatara is of Sun. We already checked Suns significance as: 2, 7 / 10 / 4 / 5 as Sun is in conjunction
with Venus he will also signify houses signified by Venus, Sun is in the Sub of Venus. So Sun is also
pretty good for marriage.
Next Antara is of Moon. Moon is in 7th, is lord of 4th, Moon is in the Star of Saturn, and Saturn is in 7 th
and owns 10th and 11th. We have also seen that Moon is also a very string significator of 6 th. Moons
significance is: 7, 10, 6 / 7 / 10, 11 / 4. Means Moon being pretty strong significator of 6 th and 10th both
opposing house for marriage, we just cant consider Moon here.
Next Antara of Mars, Rahu and Jupiter , are far way time period as far as horary chart is concerned,
horary chart are best for events likely to happen during 3 to six months at the most we can extend its
range to say one and half year. So with the fixed a time frame of one and half year, obviously only Moon,
Venus and Sun Antara could fit the bill. Out of these three planets Moon is already ruled out so we are left
with Sun and Venus.
Both are quite powerful significator for marriage, both are in conjunction in the first place, so share the
same significance, on top of this both are in the same Sub.
One thought came to my mind that give preference to Venus as Venus is natural significator (karak) for
marriages but this being a female nativity, Mars and Sun are more dominant as far as marriage is
concerned.
Venus cant be fully ruled out, she is very well a strong contender, along with Sun, which one to choose?
When an astrologer is at such cross roads, many resort to Ruling planets to choose Antara/Sookshma etc,
but my own experience with Ruling Planets (RP) is not that enthusiastic, somehow RPs never help me.
There are some cases wherein I use RP, it is when Horary chart Ascendant is the same as Natal chart
Ascendant or Horary chart Moon Star is the same as that of Natal charts Moon Star, only such rare
occasions RP indeed helped me. In Nehas case there was no such possibility. So I decided to check
transits.
We have formed the Dasha Bhukti- Antara chain as Saturn-Saturn- Venus and Saturn-Saturn-Sun, as
the event is likely to happen after several moths I decided to check transit of Sun. Ideally we need to
check a period during which Sun is transiting in Sign-Star combo of planets in the chain we formed
earlier.
We have Saturn-Venus or Saturn-Sun means we have to look for following combinations.
1.

Saturns Sign Venuss Star

2.

Saturns Sign Suns star

3.

Suns Sign Saturns Star

4.

Venus Sign and Saturns Star

Our target period is from 10 June 2014 to 4 Feb 2014.

During this period Sun will transit through

Gemini (Mercury), Cancer (Moon), Leo (Sun), Virgo (Mercury), Libra (Venus), Scorpio (Mars)
Sagittarius (Jupiter) and Capricorn (Saturn)
We cant consider Gemini, Virgo, Cancer, Scorpio, Sagittarius as Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Moon are
not in our chain.
That leaves only Leo (Sun), Libra (Venus) and Capricorn (Saturn) signs, as Sun, Venus and Saturn are in
the chain.
In Leo there are no Saturn stars so Sun-Saturn chain cant be formed. And in Libra there are no Saturn
stars mean here also we cant get Saturn -Venus combo.
We are now left with only Capricorn (Saturn) and here we have only Suns stars so the question of Sun
Antara or Venus Antara gets sorted out automatically.
Look at the Antara periods again; Suns Antara is from 10 Dec 2013 to 3rd Feb. 2014. Sun will be
Saturns sign Capricorn during 14th January 2014 till 23rd January 2014. This fits our chain. Earlier dates
are not feasible because Venus will be combust during 8 th January to 14 January and this combustion is
strictly a No for marriages.
Bingo! We are done, transits are confirmed and I have no doubts that there are pretty high chances of
Neha getting married and the period could be from- 13 January to 23 January 2014.
Well, it is technically possible to find the extract date within this already narrowed down time frame but
for this type of queries it would be rather an over-kill!
Neha, I dont think your marriage is possible in 2013, but good news is that , 2014 seems to be quite
promising. Just wait till January 2014, by January 15 to 23 you will tie the knot, I am sure about this,
dead sure I would rather say
Neha looked pretty upset, obviously because she wanted a quick turn around but according to my
prediction she needs to wait much longer than her expectations. But somehow she composed herself and
said
Are you sure, because in the past several Astrologers kept me telling dates after dates, and if there was
any merit in what they said , I could have married for at least half a dozen times!
Neha, Astrology is science of probabilities, it just tells the possibilities, and there are lot of other things
that finally end in manifesting an event. Keep trying, that is what we have in our hands. My best wishes
are always with you.

Nehas next visit to me was in January 2014, broad smile on her face and bubbling enthusiasm was a clear
indication that she is on the way of getting married pretty soon.
So, Neha, all is well as per your wish, When?

21 January 2014!
I dont know how to thank you, you know when I visited last time and you predicted this event that too
after one year, to be frank I was not ready to accept you and literally I discarded your predictions and
ridiculed . But I proved wrong, you are great
No, Neha, I am not that great, it K.P and our Guru Krishnamurti, all credit goes to this wonderful system
of prediction, I just follow it..
I wish you both all the best and a happy and wonderful married life..
God Luck

Respected Dr.L.S.Rath Ji ,
This is my humble submission that at least all the KP followers accept that
We follow placidus system.

Further we follow that -

Planet is the source, constellation indicates nature of the result and the SUB is a deciding factor whether
the matter is favourable or not." This can be interpreted in any manner by the KP astrologers.

So far I could follow that in short your opinion is that planet does not signify the houses signified
by its sub-lord until and unless the planet signifies through it positional and stellar status. At the least the
planet has to aspect the cusp in question. The sub-lord is always a qualifier.
This is my humble submission if I may that I my self do not limit to Sub to decide favorurable or
unfavorable results, but also taking Sub's nature into consideration regarding which I had submitted a
chart mentioning that even star lord of sub lord decides the real picture.I had also mentioned that without
following it the status of the native(my cousin brother) cant be judged whereas concerned native is
software Engineer ,earns handsome salary and from all angles life is satisfactory(DOB- October
14,1962,TOB-01:09AM,27N09;81E57).

Majority of examples in KP readers use two steps only i.e. a planet will
offer result of its own as well as results of its nakahtra lord.
Chandrakant Bhatt in his famous book Nakshatra Chintamani used third step
consistently. To keep it consistent with KP readers, he uses term "connected
with" for the third step.

JC Luthara and his followers also use these three steps only similar to
Chandrakant Bhatt. Though they use term "Nadi Astrology" for "KP System"

Punit ji has revealed and made easy to under stand for students like me that

4-step theory by Sunil Gondhalekar ji goes one step further. He has

mentioned two places in KP readers where fourth step is used. Taking clue
from those two examples, he has started consistently using fourth step. By
fourth step we mean nakshatra lord of the sub lord is also considered for
signification.

Adith ji also coined one theory by the name of "Backward theory" and if I
understand correctly, he also uses sub lord of the sub lord in this theory
as well as nakshatra of sub lord. We can call Backward theory a "six step
theory". I guess this is similar to six-fold signification table used by
Shri KSK at some places in 1966 edition of his book
( http://kpastrology.astrosage.com/Home/differences-in-readers)
Planets aspected by Significator are also considered significator. It
seems there is no dispute in this as far as understanding of KP readers are
concerned, but not all astrologers use it. Majority of KP astrologers who

use it, use Indian astrology aspects only and not Western astrology aspects.
We can call it another step.

It is up to the astrologer on the number of steps he wants to use based on

his experience and preference. This fight will always go on as KP readers at
different places use different number of steps.

I may rely upon the example suggested by respected Tw ji Please Judge Mercury for the chart under
discussion (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/k_p_system/message/36724) as follows -

Me(10,4) in star Su(10,6) & sub Ra Conj Ve(9,2-3-7) within 5deg orb, signifies 2,7.
Here Mercury owns 4th and occupies 10th. 10th being 12th to 11th is not considered conductive for
marriage. The same is proved by the study of Dr. Rath. Mercury is in the star of Sun in 10th and owning
6th. Both are strongly detrimental houses for marriage. So Mercury doesn't signify any of the conductive
house for marriage and hence there is no question of Sub coming into the picture. Tw ji still considered
Mercury because though Mercury doesn't signify either of 2, 7 or 11, still Mercury is connected with 2nd
and 7th at Sub level. This is one interpretation approach now-a-days consistently seen by KP
astrologers where they consider houses connected at sub level for result itself rather than just
qualification (favorable/ unfavorable) of signification.

Further discussion went on which is as following which supports what I had been thinking though the
above chart was not taken up (DOB- October 14,1962,TOB-01:09AM,27N09;81E57)-

STAR LORD OF SUB LORD:-[18.02.2011]

Re: [k_p_system] Re: whether kp went wrong? To Anand - - No Subs Star in KP

From:
adith kasinath.g.k

To:
k_p_system@yahoogroups.com

Dear TW ji,

I have got some literature or books in which the star lord of the Sublord is used for the deciding factor.
Even the Sublord speaks books is based on this only.

Constellation lord is the source. and Sublord is the Deciding factor. Yes.

For example. Jup is in the star of Moon and in the sub of Venus.

Jup will signify what Moon signifies. What Moon will signify ? Moon by its position, lordship and also
its starlord. If the starlord of the stralord is a weak signficator, it will dilute the signification.

What the sublord Venus will signify?

Venus will signify its position, lordship and also its starlord signifcations. If the star lord of the sublord is a
weak significator the matter in question, it will definteley dilute the signification and affect the result.

Only if all these planets are strong enough , the matter is enjoyed in full.

If we do not go in depth in this way, we are having more rooms to end up in wrong predictions in
practical cases. Because, in the thoery, most of teh examples are simple which go with the rules. But the
practical cases are complicated most of the time. Not exacltly as per teh rules. We have to look into the
roots of the each planet by its strength.

This is my humble opinion.

With Regards

Adith

Stalwart Tin win Ji refers KP Rules which are as following:

KP is the Sub lord theory only.It is not KP at all without Sub.

Ref. 1
Krishnamurti Padhdhati, Vol. 2, 1966, Sagar Publications, p 41/
KP Reader III, p 136 (Original Edition, Theory Part p 129)/
KP Reader V p 126 (Original Edition p 129)/
KP Reader VI p 91
But according to the Krishnamurti system, the planet which is considered to be a benefic by lordship
offers the results signified by it, through the planet deposited in its constellation.
"Beneficial planets offer their results through the depositors in their constellation, only when the sub is
also governed by a benefic. If the sub is ruled by a malefic, the depositor cannot bring out favourable
results."
For example, to a Scorpio-born, Jupiter is the lord of 2 and 5. Jupiter is not only the chief governor for
children but also by owning the houses 2 and 5 it signifies the birth of children to that person. Jupiter
rules the stars Punarvasu, Visaka and Poorvapathrapada. If planets occupy any one of these stars, then the
planet tenanted in the constellation has to offer the results indicated by Jupiter. If the sub is governed by
lord of 11, then the person gets a child. But if the sub is ruled by the lord of 12, no child will be born
during the period of the planet in the sub governed by lord of 12. Therefore a planet occupying
Punarvasu Nakshatra and Mercury sub will give a child. So one is to question that the planet which either
occupies a constellation or transits in a constellation is the source by which one has his desire fulfilled.
The lord of the constellation indicates the nature of the result, "the sub shows whether it is desirable or
undesirable."

"Hence Planet is the source, constellation indicates nature of the result and the SUB is a deciding factor
whether the matter is favourable or not."

Ref. 2
KP Reader III pp 143-145 (Original Edition, Theory Part pp 137-139)
KP Reader V pp 143-145 (Original Edition pp 137-139)
KP Reader VI pp 80-82

A planet `A' offers the results of the house occupied by that planet `B' which is the lord of the star wherein
this planet `A' is deposited.

Again trouble arose when 2,3 or 4 planets are found in the same constellation, as all the planest in the
same star, though referring the same matters, yet gave diametrically opposite results, i.e if planets A,B,C
and D are in one constellation, in the same house, A and C gave pleasant results whereas B and D gave
just opposite results. This made me think further. .. Then I started doing research and in all cases I found
that planets, though they are in the same constellation, yet a few are beneficial and a few unfavourable.
This caused me to further carry on research. I found that every constellation must be devided in the
manner I have said into 9 subs and each sub having that area in a constellation in the propotion in which
they are allotted the numbers of years in Vimshodhari dasa.

I proved that planets occupying any one constellation has connection with the Bhavaoccupied by the lord
of constellation. These planets in that constellation are termed as the "Signifcators" of the Bhava occupied
by the the lord of the constellation. Thus if one works out, for all the planets then each planet is found to
signify the matters of a few houses.

Then judge each planet. The planet signifies a matter. Whether it votes for the progress and properity or
due to the "sub lord" it is not capable doing good, further it does harm to that bhava signified by the
planet, is to be studied.

"This discovery has crowned me with success."

I say "If a planet is the signifcator of lagna bhava, it gives long life, success in attempts; it healps to
maintain good health, if the sub lord is not the signficator of 6 or 8 or 12. If the sub lord of the planet
signifies 6th house and if a planet shows lagna results and occupy such a sub ruled by the significator of
6, he falls ill. The constellation refers to his health, sub signifying 6 gives disease. If a planet signifies
lagna bhava and it is in the "sub of the significator of 8", he meets with danger.

If the "sub lord signifies 12th house" and the significator of lagna is in such a sub, one runs away, or one
is imprisoned, or hospitalized.

Therefore constellation lord shows whom or which matter it refers. But "the deciding factor, good or bad,
success or failure is shown by the sub occupied by the significator."

Suppose a planet is the significator of second bhava and it is in the "sub of 6", one borrows but if it is in
the sub of 8 or 12, he lends to others or repays loan.

Suppose a planet is the significator of 7th house and if it is in the "sub of 2 or 11" one gains, there is
reunion, one gets married, etc. But if it is in the significator of 12, separation or ill health to wife. If it is in
the "sub of 1 1nd 2", danger to partner's life. Thera can be 3 or 4 or any number of signifcators for the 7th.
Therefore during the period or sub period of a planet in such a sub whose lord signifies 12th house, wife
falls ill or the native goes away and separation is caused. If the sub lord signifies 6th house, the wife goes
away, therby there is separation.

Ref. 3
Krishnamurti Padhdhati or Guruji's self written biography dated June
30, 1969 in R. Eshwara Manu's "Astrological Tables for All

The planets deposited in a particular constellation can indicate only the nature of the event i.e. which
house matter the planets indicate due to the lord of constellation by its occupation. It does not mean that a
planet deposited in a constellation should necessarily be favourable and contribute for the benefit of the
matters signified by a bhava occupied by the lord of constellation. For example, Guru and Sani were in
the same constellation. Guru is in the "beneficial sub", whereas Sani is in an "adverse sub". So during
Guru period one enjoys the results of the bhava occupied by the lord of constellation whereas during the
period of Sani he faces just diametrically opposite results in the same matter. If in the Guru sub period, a
child is born, during Sani the same child dies. It means Guru and Sani are in one constellation and the
lord of constellation is in 5. Guru was in a favourable sub and Sani was in an unfavourable one.

Ref. 4
KP Reader III p 362 (Original Edition, Practical Part p 194)
Further, one is to note the dasa period which one runs. Because in one period and subperiod, one may be
in service; in another sub subperiod in the same major period keep idle; in the third subperiod do
business; in the next subperiod, have gains, in another loose and so on.

Hence one is to note what each planet can contribute always consider its "sub lord".
(note: The cuspal sub lord of a house is also a planet.)

Ref. 5
Krishnamurti Padhdhati, Vol. 2, 1966, Sagar Publications, p 314
It is necessary to judge a planet by the lord of costellation and "sub" when you can have the "correct
results".

Further for timing of Events

Once it is decided whether the event is promised in the chart or not, next important step is to find out
when the event will take place.

The matter will fructify in the dasa, bhukti and antara of the significators of houses group for the matter
under consideration. Significators of main and supportive houses needs to be found out according to
established KP rules as stated above or the method given in the section "Finding House Signifcators."
Punit Ji Says that Now-a-days all KP software like http://www.MyKundali.com gives a list of significator,
so one need not to worry about significator selection process. The event will happen in the conjoined
period of the signifcators of the house group for the matter under consideration. Among the signficators,
one need out possible dasa lord, bhukti lord and antara lord. If the selected number of sigfinicators are
more than three (we require one for dasa, one for bhukti and one for antara), we need to find out powerful
significators among them according to the rules given in "selection of significator" section.

Note: In KP System, only Vimshottari Dasa is used. Other dasas like Yogini, Kalchakra, Ashottari, Chara
Dasa etc. are not used.
Generally dasa is for some longer duration. To pin point exact time of happening of an event, we need to
see the transit as follows -

1. Dasa, Bhukti and Antara lord should transit through the significators of the houses under consideration
to fructify the event.
2. For even finer timing, we need to check transit of Sun and Moon. Sun and Moon should transit through
the significators.

Note: Sun transit is considered when the event is likely within a year. Moon transit should be considered
for pin-pointing events up to a month. Lagan transit should be considered for predicting the event upto
hour and minutes.

The above is my humble submission.I may correct my self further if there is some thing mentioned
wrongly.

Dhirendra Nath Misra
