How to use this CD-ROM

There are two main programs that can be installed on your hard drive
from this CD-ROM: LVSIM-EMS and the EMS Visual Tour. The SETUP lets
you select installation of both programs or only one of them. Note
that the LVDAM-EMS program is part of the LVSIM-EMS installation.

c)

Insert the Lab-Volt LVSIM-EMS CD-ROM into your CD drive;

Start WINDOWS and close all other programs that may be running;
Access the main folder of the CD-ROM and run SETUP.EXE".

In the first part of the setup, you will select the language in which
you wish to run the setup. Then, you will be prompted to select which
of the two programs you want to install.
The second part of the setup will ask you questions concerning your
preferences about the LVSIM-EMS installation.
The third part concerns the EMS Visual Tour installation options.
The EMS Visual Tour is a huge program that can install up to 600 MB
of data on your hard drive. Fortunately, you can choose to run
EMS Visual Tour partially or directly from the CD-ROM. This will save a
lot of hard disk space. Note that in order to run EMS Visual Tour direct

ly
from the CD-ROM, you will need at least a 4X-speed CD-ROM drive. Note al
so
that the LVSIM-EMS program cannot be run from the CD-ROM.
Finally, the last part will execute the installation by copying
appropriate files on your hard drive.

2.

LVSIM-EMS
The Lvsim folder on the CD-ROM contains two sub-folders: one for the
LVSIM-EMS program, the other for the EMS Visual Tour program.
LVSIM-EMS is a program that simulates the Lab-Volt ElectroMechanical
System (EMS) equipment. It is copy protected and requires a Security
Device key. However, without the Security Device key, the program is
fully operational except that you cannot take any measurements. The
installation of LVSIM-EMS also includes the LVDAM-EMS program. The
installation of LVSIM-EMS requires up to 17 MB of space on your hard
disk. The "Recommended" option of the setup will install the LVSIM-EMS
program in one of the seven Language/AC Network combinations available.
This option requires about 10 MB of space on your hard disk.
The latest release notes about LVSIM-EMS program are available in the
Readme LVSIM-EMS.txt file in the Lvsim\Ems2_11 folder. Please read this
file before running LVSIM-EMS.

3.

LVDAM-EMS
The LVDAM-EMS program is a set of virtual instruments for performing
measurements in the ElectroMechanical System (EMS). It requires about
7 MB of space on your hard disk. The installation of the LVDAM-EMS
program is part of the LVSIM-EMS installation.
The latest release notes about the LVDAM-EMS program are available in
the Readme LVDAM-EMS.txt file in the Lvdam\Ems2_1 folder. Please read
this file before running the LVDAM-EMS program.

4.

EMS Visual Tour

EMS Visual Tour is a multimedia add-in that presents a procedure summary
for each Lab-Volt EMS laboratory exercise. A sound card is required to
run this application. The program can be run from your hard disk. Howeve

r,
this will take up to 600 MB of space. It can also be run partially from
the CD-ROM: this will require between 43 and 89 MB of space on your hard
disk, depending on the components that you will install. If you have a 4
X
(or higher speed) CD-ROM drive, you can run EMS Visual Tour directly fro
m
the CD-ROM; this option requires almost no space on your hard drive. The
Lvsim\Emsvt2_11 folder on this CD-ROM contains all the files required to

run EMS Visual Tour. These files are not compressed.

5.

Hardlock folder
The Hardlock folder on this CD-ROM contains files required to install th

e
Network Security Device on a Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP or
Windows 95/98 server. These files are not compressed. Please refer to
the "Installation of the Multiple-User Hardlock Key" section of the
LVSIM-EMS User Manual for more details on how to use these files.
