A

ASSAULTIVE/COMBATIVE

Inmate has demonstrated violence and/or aggression


toward staff, or has had a charge filed against him or
her while in custody.

CAUTION

Previously used to indicate a general reference of


caution. See LPER transaction for the individuals
exact caution.

ESCAPE

Inmate has a current charge or conviction of escape or


attempted escape or these types of charges appear on
their criminal history. This does not apply for evading
arrest charges or juveniles who did not report to the
Texas Youth Commission authority.

KEEP SEPARATE

Inmate should be kept separate from another inmate.


This will apply for all inmates known to have been
charged with fighting each other while in custody, codefendants, and close relatives such as siblings, and
parents and children.

LAW ENFORCEMENT

Inmate is a police officer, former police officer, or an


immediate family member of a police officer. This
will also apply to correctional, parole and probation
officers. In addition to immediate family members,
other individuals related to law enforcement may be
assigned this caution code if a supervisor determines
it is necessary.

PSYCHOLOGICAL

Inmate is currently housed per authority of the Mental


Health and Mental Retardation Authority (MHMRA),
has a history of being housed as an MHMRA patient,
or is currently being prescribed psychotropic
medication.

M MEDICAL

Inmate has a special medical handicap. This includes


but is not limited to inmates who are blind or hearing
impaired, inmates with medical conditions such as
diabetes or tuberculosis, and inmates who require the
assistance of prosthetic devices, wheel chairs,
walkers, or canes. Inmates enrolled in substance abuse
programs may also receive this medical caution.

Inmate is combative or considered an escape risk and


should be restrained. A sergeant, lieutenant, captain,
etc., can recommend that an inmate be restrained.

Inmate has attempted suicide, exhibited suicidal


tendencies or expressed thoughts of suicide.

Inmate has some other special character trait or


situation. Character traits include but are not limited
to homosexuality, gang affiliation, psychological
referrals, etc. Situations may include transfers by
medical from one facility to another that does not
include a medical housing location.

W WORKER

Indicates that the inmate is assigned to a


trustee/worker position or that they have past
trustee/work history.

TRAINING

Indicates that the inmate is enrolled in an educational


program or a trade school training program.

HOUSING

Indicates that an inmate must be housed in


administrative separation until a housing location
becomes available.
