Fire + Water = DRIVEN BY THE EMOTIONS
Fire and Water are both elements of the emotional body. FIRE is the outward expression of
emotion - passion, drama, intensity and enthusiasm - while WATER is the inner experience of
emotion, especially awareness of the impact we have on the feelings of others and their
emotional impact on us.
People who have many planets in Fire and few in Water tend to express more strongly than how
they actually feel. Conversely, people with a lot of planets in Water signs and few in Fire feel
more deeply than they outwardly express to others.
Having more placements in the emotional realm (Fire and Water signs) indicates an individual
who reaches conclusions, makes decisions and is driven to act on the basis of their emotions
rather than from mental considerations.
Earth + Air = DRIVEN BY THE MIND
Air and Earth are both elements of the mental body. AIR is the abstract component of the mind
and rules ideas, theories, mathematics, music, brilliance and sociability. EARTH is the practical
portion of the mind, which is more concerned with tangible results than with intangible ideas.
People with many planets in Air signs and few in Earth tend to be very mental and intelligent,
but not very practical. They may put a lot of energy into creating something, and then lose
interest and go on to a new activity without reaping the tangible rewards of what they have
already done.
People with a lot of planets in Earth signs and few in Air can get bogged down with repetitive
patterns. They need an Air person around them to provide the insights that can help them break
free to reach the next level.
Having more placements in the mental realm (Earth and Air signs) indicates an individual who
makes decisions based on rational considerations - logic and practicality - rather than emotional
promptings.

FIRE
Fire and Water are opposite components of the EMOTIONAL BODY. Fire is enthusiasm,
passion, inspiration and all forms of outward emotional expression. Water represents feelings that
we experience deeply and do not express.
Four or more placements in Fire signs - Aries, Leo and Sagittarius - indicate a person who has a
passionate nature. They are enthusiastic, dramatic, adventurous, inspirational, impassioned about
life and outwardly excitable.
If there are more planets in Fire than Water, the person may express emotions more theatrically
than what they actually feel inside. For example, they may fly off the handle with: Why did
you leave that light on?!!!... when its really not that big a deal to them.
Sometimes the Fire is understated and the person seems almost unemotional, in which case its
the intensity of expression that others notice.
If you have many planets in Fire signs and few in Water, you may inadvertently have others
walking on egg shells around you because of your enthusiastic outbursts. You might want to let
them know: Look, I just have a passionate nature. Its not really that big a deal to me. Inwardly
the people around you will sense the truth of what you are saying and can begin to relax around
you, and stop resisting your energy.
EARTH
Earth and Air are opposite components of the MENTAL BODY. Earth is the practical portion of
the mind and is concerned with tangible results rather than intangible ideas.
Earth people - those with four or more placements in Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) are NOT abstract, and consider endless theoretical discussions to be a complete waste of their
time. For the Earth person, if the conversation isnt leading to a tangible result (ie: building a
house or a business, doing a practical service, or moving toward the completion of a personal
goal) it has no value.
If a person has many planets in EARTH signs, their practical approach to life insures that they
will make adequate material preparations for the future. Even if they are not motivated by money
and do not enjoy the process, they will do it because they recognize the practical importance.
When Earth people are working on a personal problem they go over and over it, and its easy for
them to get stuck. Its almost like an endless loop tape just keeps repeating in their minds, and
they can never reach a resolution. This is why its to their advantage to spend time with Air
people, who have fluid minds and can tune in to the Earth persons endless tape and see the
specific answer they are looking for.

Patience is recommended here. If the Air person hears the problem but doesnt give the desired
insight right away, its to the Earth persons advantage to keep running it by the Air person until
they yield the correct solution. Then the mental tape will pop and resolve itself.
AIR
A person with four or more placements in Air signs -Gemini, Libra and Aquarius - and a lack of
planets (0 or 1) in Earth signs, is what I would call an airhead. Air people are brilliant,
theoretical, mathematical, musical, social, well read and can discuss almost any topic.
Their minds are abstract, positive and fluid - UNTIL a practical concern enters the picture. Then
they begin to worry and, upon occasion, can become almost paranoid in that their fears begin to
loom out of proportion with the reality of the situation.
For example, an Air person, in their usual positive frame of mind, may be out walking and have
the thought: Oh, its February. I need to remember to gather my tax records for the year! They
continue on their way and another thought occurs: You know, I forgot to declare that one source
of interest last year... it wasnt a big deal... Then: Gosh, come to think of it, I just read about a
doctor who was jailed by the IRS for that very thing.... and before you know it, they think they
are in trouble with the IRS!
Air people need the comfort of Earth people to help them stay relaxed, confident and grounded
in their bodies.
WATER
Water people (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) are very much in touch with their inner feelings and
moods. They are also tuned in to others feelings, and empathy is a strong suit for them.
A person with three or more planets in Water signs is very aware of others inner emotional
responses, and will go out of their way to not hurt anothers feelings.
It is natural to project that others are the same as we are, so Water people often have the idea that
others are as aware of - and sensitive to - emotions as they are. So when someone says something
that hurts them, they become upset: I would never say such a hurtful thing!
They imagine that the other person knew that what they said would hurt them - but this is not
usually the case. Others are simply LESS AWARE of feelings, and do not automatically
understand of the impact of their words on others.
If a person has four or more placements in Water, their sensitivity to personal emotion is
pronounced and they can assume that they are more sensitive in this area than those around them.

Understanding the Four Elements

As recently as a few thousand years ago, Western scientists considered the whole earth to be
made of 4 elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Even though science has taken a different turn,
we can still use this ancient wisdom to make sense of the world.

Fire signs

As you can see, every fourth sign is a fire sign. If you were to connect them, they would form a
perfect triangle, also known in astrological terms as a grand trine. In fact, this works for each of
the four elements.
The fire signs are Aries , Leo , Sagittarius
Fire symbolizes passion, energy, impulse, enthusiasm, inspiration, idealism, faith. Fire signs are
the leaders and the cheerleaders of the zodiac. They provide us with much needed inspiration,
motivation and creative energy.

A person with 2-4 planets in fire in her chart will be enthusiastic and idealistic, and could also
be insecure, egocentric and impractical.
5 or more planets in fire appears deceptively quiet and shy until she feels safe enough to open
up.
0-1 planets in fire indicates a person with a lower energy level who seeks out others to inspire or
motivate her.

Earth signs

Earth signs are Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn.

Earth represents practicality, stability, materialism, realism.
Practical and dependable, earth signs provide the resources necessary for the functions of life.
There is usually a deep affinity with nature. Earth signs are the builders of long-lasting
structures.

Someone with 2-4 planets in earth signs is resourceful and possesses talent in dealing with reality
and material things, such as money, business, or crafts.
A person with 5 or more planets in earth signs can get so stuck in the material aspects of things
that they do not see the deeper meanings.
A person with 0-1 planets in earth signs usually does not have to worry over finances. Bill Gates,
for example. Although they do tend to be impractical and out of touch with their bodies.

Air signs

The air signs are Gemini,

Libra,
Aquarius
Air symbolizes mental processes, language, intellect, reason, human communication and social
relationships. Air signs provide the ideas that make things happen.

An airy chart represents a person with many ideas to share. He may lack grounding, however,
and tries to do too many things at once.
5 or more planets in air in a chart often manifests as someone who feels disconnected from what
is happening around her. People with 0-1 planets in air usually have no problem with the
intellectual side of life and are often highly educated.

Water signs

Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio , Pisces

Emotion, psychism, mysticism, intuition.
Water signs are the feelers, the nurturers, the caretakers.

A person with 2-4 planets in water is a very sensitive and emotional person. He will have
intuitive and even psychic abilities.
A person with 5 or more planets in water signs is so sensitive that she holds back, and may
appear detached or aloof.
A chart with 0-1 planets in water does not mean the person has no feelings! In fact, they are quite
emotional, although sometimes are out of touch with their feelings.
Each sign corresponds to an element (these are fairly well-known) and a modality (these are not
so well known). The 3 modalities are cardinal, fixed, and mutable.
RELATIONSHIPS
One may also check the friendships or relationships between two people on the
above basis. For example Fire and Air are Mutual friends as air increases and
spreads the fire. Whereas Fire and Water are natural enemies as water can
extinguish the Fire.
Fire and earth are neutral to each other.
Earth and water are again friendly to each other since when water is mixed with
earth ,it makes it concrete and builds.
Whereas Earth and Air are Mutual enemies as a gust of Air (Wind) can drive away
the Earth (Dust) and displace it.
Air and water are neutrals.

People with more Planets in watery signs, their Emotional issues would
predominate.
They have extreme sensitivity and sympathetic understanding. They are
More receptive and passionate at times, than others.
There is les of stamina in them.Their constitution would be weak as they have less
of power to re-vitalize or recuperate.They are sentimental and may be psychic and
interested in occult.. They make good Mediums (For seances where Spirits are
invited).
Professions best suited would be related to liquids or where water is predominantly
a Integral part of that business. This Element (Water) is cool and wet. It is a
negative element, slower and passive. It tends to fall, run together and collect in
the lowest levels. It has a passive and rather introvert nature. Thus the native
influenced by more Watery signs especially ascendant , is likely to be Round in
shape (Physically), And if the influences of many Planets on the 5th House ,then
there would certainly be offsprings (Issues or Children) to the native. Because life
originates from water which is the essence and signifies fertlity (seed and watering
a plant).

People with more Planets in Airy signs - denote the intellectual stimulus at play.
Such natives have a good ability to communicate intelligently and freely. Their
power of grasping is above average. They indicate less of vitality, more to do with
mind,mental. Fertile imaginations if well disposed, fond of reasoning, well behaved
and tactful.
Such people are best suited to Advisory businesses or scientific, like Accountants,
Novel writers, Lawyers, artists,reporters, literary persuits,Scientists, media
People etc. they will have active circulation of air in their body.
The air element is warm and moist.It is a positive element faster and more active.
It tends to rise upwards and spread outward. Sun which is source of fire and energy
all around and this Energy (Heat-Fire-Light) is brought down to earth by Air Present
in the atmosphere , which makes Air a good communicator. Thus
When a native has Airy signs in the 3rd house (Denoting communication)
Plus Planets in that House (Example- Mercury in Gemini) which represent
communication too , then the abilty of communications of such native is
extraordinary or enhanced.
People with more Planets in Earthy Signs- would show stability . Such people are
practical, Financial and business affairs play an important role for them and
Matters of Status (Material), Comfort and security are their major concerns. They
also have patience. Such people would be careful and cautious, secretive and
supsicious, pre-meditative and practical, stubborn and self-protective, methodical
and economical. Business would be best suited for them. For them businesses
which suit their Characateristics are Building constructions, Mining and all laborius,
heavy and slow work, in which time, labour and perseverance are required. Earth
Element is cold and dry. It is the slowest and heaviest of all the elemnts, indicating
solidification and inertia.
Thus the native with more planets in Earthy signs too, would be diffcult to move
Physically or mentally, He would have strong body , would not like much movement
or travel, and also not easily accept advises or new ideas.

People with more Planets in fiery signs - indicate independent,courageous and

assertive nature. There is ambition, push, Energy and inherent vitality in such
people. (You may find their palms more Pinkish or reddish if one is interested
in palmistry applied to astrology.) they are confident and can get easily into fights
and duals. They like to lead and act on impulses ratherthan being subordinate to
others. They can suffer from inflammatory disorders and fevers . Such people would
be connecetd to any professions connected to Heat or Metals, mechanical,
Engineering etc. Fire is hot and Dry in Nature, is active,fastest,lightest and
represents a Extrovert Nature.
Just like Fire cannot just be,thus even natives with more planets in Fiery Planets
would be restless in nature and seeking change in the departments where
the Planets gather in the particular sign and house. If the ascendant is Fiery
and Saturn.or Mars or Sun influence the same, then the native is likely to be
lean.
What do the triplicities (Fiery,Earthy,Airy and Watery)denote ?

More Planets in Fiery signs would denote a person with fiery
Constitution. (We call here in India predominance of Agni tattwa or Fire)
This man would be more given to heat in his body, heat in his arguments,
forceful nature, hot temper, supsecptible to diseases caused by
Heat in body,etcetra.
