TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Customer complaint
Noise from the dashboard when in air recirculation
mode.
Possible cause
Damage to the recirculation flap drive gear teeth
resulting from the mechanical stop breaking.
Fault finding
Move the air recirculation flap using the recirculation
control (in the passenger compartment).
Confirm the recirculation flap noise.

Recirculation flap

Mount the mechanical stop with two rivets (E)

Operation to be carried out


Replace the recirculation flap.
Replace the recirculation flap drive gear.
Fit a mechanical stop, made in the workshop.
Description of the operation
REMOVAL
WARNING
The procedure for removal differs according to the
vehicle engine type.
Remove the blower unit following the instructions in
Workshop Repair Manual 312-6.
REPLACING THE RECIRCULATION FLAP AND
DRIVE GEAR
Remove:
The recirculation flap control micromotor.
The mounting screws from both blower unit halfunits to open the blower unit.
Replace the recirculation flap and drive gear.

E 4 mm diameter aluminium rivets


CREATING A MECHANICAL STOP
Create a recirculation flap mechanical stop using a
10 mm wide 2 mm thick metal panel.

REFITTING
Refit the removed components in the reverse order
to removal.
Reconnect the battery, starting with the positive
terminal.
WARNING
Disconnect then reconnect the battery following the
procedure in the "Battery: advice" section of
Technical Note 6002A.

A = 18 mm
B = 15 mm
C = 5 mm
D = 6 mm
