3.2

SAP HANA requirements

Ensure you are using a supported version of SAP HANA.

SAP HANA uses the secure sockets layer (SSL) protocol to ensure secure communications between individual
components and client connections. For this reason, we recommend you configure HTTPS (SSL) for client
application access to prevent interception of user names and passwords when connecting to SAP HANA with SAP
Lumira Server. For configuration details, refer to the section on Securing Data Communication in the SAP HANA
Security Guide.

Verifying the version of SAP HANA

Use this command to check your version of SAP HANA:
/usr/sap/<SID>/HDB<INSTANCE>/HDB version
Example:
MYSERVER:/usr/sap/DB1/HDB00 # su db1adm
MYSERVER:/usr/sap/DB1/HDB00> ./HDB version

Context
You cannot install UAL AFL on an SAP HANA server that has SAL AFL installed.
To see if SAL AFL is installed, run the following command:
ls -la /usr/sap/<SID>/HDB<INSTANCE>/exe/plugins
If the resulting listing contains a plugin with the string sal_ in its name, then SAL AFL is installed.
Example:
MYSERVER:/hana/shared/DB1/hdblcm # ls -la /usr/sap/DB1/HDB00/exe/plugins
total 16
lrwxrwxrwx 1 db1adm sapsys
43 Jul 11 11:50 sal -> ../../plugins/sal_1.00.84.0
In this example, SAL AFL is installed.

Procedure
Instructions for uninstalling SAL AFL are in the SAP Note 2103854 . Uninstalling SAL AFL is a prerequisite for
installing UAL AFL, so the instructions to uninstall are contained in this SAP Note.

Creating users

SAP Lumira Server users must be assigned rights and roles on the SAP HANA system in order to view and publish
stories or datasets. Users must also be created to perform extension management and configuration.

7.1

User rights and roles

End users of SAP Lumira Server must be assigned to one of the following SAP HANA roles. For a summary of all
users created during installation and configuration, see Required information [page 5].
Table 11:
User Roles

Description

sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_CON
SUMER

A user assigned to BI_DATA_CONSUMER is granted permission to view stories.

BI_DATA_CONSUMER includes the role sap.bi.sa::BI_SA_PRIV, which allows
users to retrieve data and metadata.

Note
In order to improve HANA SPS08 performances, you can optionally set the follow
ing application privilege:

CALL
_SYS_REPO.GRANT_APPLICATION_PRIVILEGE(sap.bi.sa::SA
_EXECUTE, UPPER('<user>));
To revoke an application privilege:

CALL
_SYS_REPO.REVOKE_APPLICATION_PRIVILEGE(sap.bi.sa::S
A_EXECUTE', UPPER('<user>));
For more information see the SAP HANA Security Guide.

sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_ANA
LYST

A user assigned to this role is granted the same permissions as the

BI_DATA_CONSUMER plus the ability to publish a dataset from SAP Lumira.

Note
This role has similar rights to the standard MODELING role in SAP HANA. For
more information see the SAP HANA Security Guide.

sap.bi.admin::BI_ADMIN

A user must be granted this role to manage chart extensions.

Users can be created and assigned to roles in SAP HANA Studio. In addition, end users must be granted sufficient
permissions to select data in analytic and calculation views they need to access in SAP Lumira Server.

sap.bi.sa

Self-service analytics enables end-user-oriented analytic capabilities for ad-hoc querying of SAP
HANA information models.

SAP Lumira Server activity and error information traces are saved in the xsengine_<HOSTNAME>.trc log file.
The xsengine_alert_<HOSTNAME>.trc log file is created simultaneously and contains only error information. If
errors are the result of SAP HANA query execution, you can find additional details in the
indexserver_alert_<HOSTNAME>.trc log file.
In the xsengine_alert_<HOSTNAME>.trc file, a scenario ID may be provided with an error, for example,
SCENARIO_6608015710059306_1369800676156. You can use a scenario ID to search for additional information
in the indexserver_alert<HOSTNAME>.trc file. If no scenario ID is associated with an error, you can use its
timestamp to search for errors. Errors that occurred around the same time may contain the information you
require.
The self-service analytics component activity and error information traces are saved in the
scriptserver<HOSTNAME>.<numbers>.trc_ and scriptserver_alert<host>.trc_ log files.

Note
There is no persisted logging in the SAP HANA client web browser console. Any web browser console logs are
only available to the current user and are discarded when the browser closes or the user navigates to another
URL.

13.5 Common installation problems and troubleshooting

13.5.1

SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager displays an error when

clicking Run

Problem
SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager displays an error message when clicking Run, at the Prepare Deployment step of
the Deploy HANA Content workflow. The message includes this text:
Could not parse manifest.txt inside delivery unit

Cause
The SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager version is Support Package 06 or lower, and needs to be updated to SP07 or
higher. You can find the version number in the upper-right corner of any SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager page in
SAP HANA Studio.

Solution
In the Software Download Center, search for Hana Lifecycle Manager and download the SAP HANA Lifecycle
Manager version SP07. Run the Update SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager (HLM) workflow in SAP HANA Lifecycle
Manager. It accepts the SAR file you downloaded and updates itself. When you open SAP HANA Lifecycle
Manager again in SAP HANA Studio, the version number should begin with 1.0.7 if the update was successful.

13.5.2 SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager does not accept the SAP
Lumira Server installation package
Problem
SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager does not accept the SAP Lumira Server installation package.

Cause
SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager accepts only .zip files that have the correct metadata and internal format.

Solution
Use the .zip file downloaded from the Software Download Center directly. This .zip file already has the correct
format and metadata, and does not need to be unpacked.

13.5.3 SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager displays an error when

trying to deploy content
Problem
On the main page of SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager, when you click Deploy Content, an error message may be
displayed.

Cause
SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager was not signed by the Software Download Center.

Solution

13.5.4 Cannot connect to SAP Lumira Server after a

successful deployment to SAP HANA on Amazon Web
Services
Problem
The deployment was successful, but browsers are unable to connect when you try to access the SAP Lumira
Server or SAP HANA Extended Application Services (XS Engine) administration pages.

Cause
Amazon Web Services does not have the SAP HANA Extended Application Services port open.

Solution
Open the SAP HANA Extended Application Services port in the Amazon control panel.
The port number is composed of 80 plus the XS Engine instance number. For example, if you are using
instance 15, the port number is 8015.
This SCN article describes how to open the port in the Amazon Web Services control panel: http://
scn.sap.com/community/developer-center/hana/blog/2013/05/13/solution-to-issue-setting-up-hana-xsengine-with-aws .

13.5.5 The web page is not found (404 error) when accessing
the SAP Lumira Server or SAP HANA Extended
Application Services administration pages
Problem
The web page is not found (404 error) when trying to access the SAP Lumira Server or SAP HANA Extended
Application Services administration pages, after a successful deployment.

Possible Cause
SAP HANA was installed using a nostart flag. When this flag is used, some SAP HANA content, such as the SAP
HANA Extended Application Services administration and logon pages, is not deployed. You can verify that this is
the problem by searching in the installation logs for this flag.
