1.a) What are coherent sources? What are the requirements for two sources to be
coherent?
b) Derive the expression for fringe width in the case of Young’s double slit
experiment. Prove that the interference dark and bright fringes are of equal
width.
c) The ratio of intensities of two waves that produce interference pattern is 16:1.
Find the ratio of maximum to minimum intensities in the fringe system. [4+8+4]

b) What is magnetostriction effect? How this effect is employed in the generation
