Interview with Sharada Prasad Panda [AIR 6, BT GATE 2015]
1. How did you go about attempting the paper?
Sharada Prasad Panda: I rst completed the general aptitude section. I overlooked at all the questions once and
answered the easy questions in the rst run. I started again and answered the questions which are a bit more difcult
and take more time(I had marked them). At the end I tried answering the very difcult ones till the exam duration was
over. I could answer a few of them. I did not attempt the questions whose answer I was not sure of.
2. What do you think is the reason of your success in GATE Exam?
Sharada Prasad Panda: Focusing on the fundamentals, and giving a lot of mock tests before the exam.
3. Any books or study material you would like to recommend for GATE students?
Sharada Prasad Panda: There are many standard books which life science students refer to like:- Lehninger for
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, U.Satyanarayana for Process Biotechnology, Pauline Doran for Bioprocessing , Primrose for
Genetic engineering, Kuby for Immunology etc. Refer to these if you are in your 2nd year or 3rd year. But if you are starting the
preparation late, it is better to refer to materials provided for gate preparation like that of materials for CSIR NET and GATE or that of
gateforum's. your concepts right. Try to have a brief sketch of the derivation, or at least the generating equations of the formulae that
you commit to your memory. Have faith in your abilities and do not panic if the paper turns out to be tougher than you expected.

3D display and user interface (without stereoscopy) IIT Kanpur
The aim of the project was to display an object as if it were a real 3D entity (on
screen), showing its perspective view based on the viewer's face's orientation with
respect to the camera, and taking a minimal number of views of the object
beforehand.
Everybody shops online these days, but there are always concerns about how the
product will actually look in reality, said Aggarwal, a third-year student at IIT Kanpur
who was part of the project, 3D display and user interface that was nominated as one
of the top six innovations at this year's Ericsson innovation awards.
The project used an algorithm that measures a user's distance from the screen as
well as inclination of the user's face and using the images of an object from different
angles creates an image that the user will perceive as a 3D image of the object, with
the help of a single camera the student explained.
This section will have questions from General Ability and Mathematics (together these sections contribute 30 percent marks in GATE).
Send in your answers with explanation to marketing@gateforum.in and the rst 5 correct entries will win a free e-shooping voucher.
