cent area with bonding and adhesive compound (masking tape) (Ma
terial No.08074). This will help you to protect adjacent skin
surface.
CAUTION: TAKE CARE NOT TO DAMAGE THE FLAP SKIN PANEL. FURTHERMORE DO
NOT CAUSE ANY DEBONDING AT THE EDGE OF THE REMAINING RUB
BING STRIP PORTION.
(b) Remove the damaged rubbing strip.
(c) Clean the repair area with cleaning agent (methylethylketone)
(Material No. 11003) or cleaning agent (trichloroethane methyl
chloroform) (Material No. 11004).
NOTE: For cleaning with cleaning agent (methylethylketone) (Ma
terial No. 11003) or cleaning agent (trichloroethane methyl
chloroform) (Material No. 11004) use paper or purecotton
cloths only. Do not use fabrics containing synthetic mate
rials. Synthetics are dissolved by cold solvents and form
an oil film which produces a nonadhesive surface.
(d) Lightly abrade the designated repair area with emery cloth (grade
240).
(e) Carefully clean the inboard flap with cleaning agent (methyl
ethylketone) (Material No. 11003) or cleaning agent (trichloroe
thane methyl chloroform) (Material No. 11004).
(f) Allow the cleaning agent to evaporate.
(g) To build up the damaged area of the rubbing strip, it is neces
sary to prepare three layers of bonding and adhesive compound
(self adhesive aluminum tape) (Material No. 08052), refer to
Figure 213, sheet 2.
(h) Position the prepared bonding and adhesive compound (self adhe
sive aluminum tape) (Material No. 08052) to the repair area,
refer to Figure 213, sheet 2. The strips must be laid in the
direction of the flap drive (direction of the flap travel).
NOTE: If the damage is greater than the width of the tape, pre
pare sufficient strips to be laid with a butt joint between
the strips.
(i) Smooth out the layers from the center to remove air and
wrinkles.
NOTE: Repeat this step after each layer is applied.
NOTE: If the position of the bonding and adhesive compound (self
adhesive aluminum tape) (Material No. 08052) is not correct
