True Leadership:

Matthew 24:45-51 – First thing to realize: He’s a servant. What does a servant’s life look like?
Luke 17:7-10 – Servants plow or look after sheep. Paul lists five types of servants used to
mature Christians in Ephesians 4:11
Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers
Apostle (both plow and look after sheep), Prophet (both plow and look after sheep), Evangelist
(plow), Pastor (look after sheep), Teacher (look after sheep).
v. 7 – After a day in the world it’s not time to think about you.
v. 8 – God time is first priority. Consider a butler who doesn’t serve his master dinner.
God’s eating and drinking: Worship Him, let Him judge you, pray to Him, pray for others (share
His heart), read your Bible.
After all that you can relax. (Hebrews 4 if needed)
v. 10 – realize your place.
Mattthew 24:45 – puts in charge: everyone has influence in at least one person’s life.
Responsibility: food at proper time.
John 4:27-38 – giving food to God’s people is doing the will of God according to your body part.
v. 35 – the day of salvation is today (2 Corinthians 6:2)
v. 38 – the accumulation of prayers throughout the ages has made us more ready to give out
God’s food than ever.
Matthew 24:45 – At the proper time: God has a schedule for releasing messages, songs, books,
revelations, etc.
Galatians 6:9 – Let us not become weary; don’t give up, God’s proper timing for reaping the
harvest is coming.

A true leader is like a father to children:

1 Corinthians 4:14-15 – Character traits of a father: v. 16 - Feels confident of own life so you can
imitate.
1 Corinthians 9:7-18 – give of self instead of take.
Many of today’s so-called leaders in the church sure do charge a lot for their services: Imagine
Paul asking for money for copies of Ephesians; or advertising for the greatest sermon ever told
and charging $100 a head for entrance to the “Sermon on the Mount Conference”.
Books, CDs, DVDs, schools, conferences – 2 Corinthians 2:17 – don’t peddle God’s word for
money! (Acts 8:20)
So how could these things ever happen without money? Supernaturally!! (Parting of Red Sea,
Feeding of Five Thousand, Pouring Water on Sacrifice)
They preach Christ and not themselves – 2 Corinthians 4:5-7…try to stay out of the limelight.
They promise you to Christ, true Christ! – 2 Corinthians 11:1-15…not prosperity Christ or cheap
grace Christ (sinful living)
They don’t ask to be called Apostle so and so or prophet such and such – 1 Corinthians 4:9-13…
become this kind of servant. 2 Corinthians 10:18 – don’t honor yourself.
They don’t care if you like them or not; not concerned about being your friend at the expense of
what is best – Galatians 1:10
True leadership is servitude – Jesus washed the disciple’s feet.

How can anyone become like this? 1 Corinthians 15:10 – use the grace God has given you.
2 Peter 1:1-10 – love, kindness, and godliness go much further than greed, power, and position.

Take away – serve Him day and night (extra time is yours); be humble and willing to serve!
