Bulldogs excited for season

C

oming off a state

championship
last
season, Folsom Highs
football team enjoyed the
postseason awards, accolades
and honors.
This years team, however,
is entirely different from last
years group. Whats done is
done and this years team is
ready to move on, play football and make their own legacy.
Hard work is what got Folsom to the top of the mountain for the second time in
five years and hard work is
what this years team has put
in since January.
The culture weve built
here is all about putting the
work in and doing what we
have to do to be successful, Folsom co-head
coach Kris Richardson
said. With the amount
of seniors we
had stepping out,
its time
for
the
next wave
to step up
and
do
the work.
Well, that
next wave
has
stepped up

Jake Jeffrey is this years starting quarterback. Jonah

Williams, right, is the teams returning full-time starter.

and its been a great offseason. There have been no

issues with work ethic or
guys missing practices or
anything like that. Theyve
shown up and put the work
in, and Im excited for the
season.
Coming off the state title in
2010, Folsom lost several key
seniors, but the 2011 team
had a solid year, finishing
with an 11-3 record; the final
loss coming to Vacaville in
the section title game. This
years team obviously has
some big shoes to fill with
Jonah Williams being the
only returning full-time
starter, but this team is ready
to move on.
Last years team is gone,
Richardson said. This is
a different team with
different guys. The bar
has been raised and the
commitment
level is the
same as it is
every year
here. Our
guys dont
know any
different
than just
going out
and
working.

A message from the head coaches

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to
the 2015 Folsom High School football season.
This is an exciting time for the Folsom
football program. The 2014 season saw the
Bulldogs win its third consecutive SacJoaquin Section Championship and second State Championship.
We are eager to add to that achievement
and have continued success at Folsom
High School. The upcoming season
should be an exciting one.
Special thanks to our Principal Howard
Cadenhead and the administration for
their continued support of Folsom football. Thanks to the student body and the
generous citizens of the city of Folsom, our
football program is off to a great start. Our
tenth annual Meet the Bulldogs Night
was a huge success thanks to the hard
work of the committee members and the
great support from the families and busi-

ness community of Folsom.

Thanks also to our players parents. The
amount of time your sons have donated to
the Folsom football program is only possible with the support of their family. I urge
each of you to take an active roll in our program and help make it the best in California.
Special thanks to all the assistant coaches and their families. Their hard work and
dedication are so valuable to our program.
They deserve a great deal of credit for the
time and commitment they give to our
football program. We could not do it without them.
There are numerous others who deserve
thanks. Our sincere gratitude to the cheerleaders, snack bar coordinators and workers, Rich Payne and press box crew, the Folsom Chain Gang, custodial staff and training staff for their support and service to our
football program.

Thank you to the many merchants and

boosters for advertising in our program.
We encourage you to visit their business
and let them know you saw their ad in the
Folsom football program.
The Folsom Bulldogs have a proud history. We are excited to be a part of the rich
tradition many students have been
involved in at Folsom High since 1922. Our
new generation of Folsom Bulldogs is
committed to having success both on the
field and in the classroom. We aim to have
fantastic athletes and outstanding students.
Our excellent coaching staff and hardworking players on all three levels are moving toward our goal of building pride and
excellence in the Folsom Bulldog football
experience. With your continued support,
we know that we will succeed.
Kris Richardson and Troy Taylor
Co-Head Football Coaches

from last years state

are plenty of question marks surrounding this years Folsom High
varsity football team.
All those question marks can be handled with one question: who will replace
the starters who made up last years state
championship team?
The Bulldogs, however, are confident
they have those questions covered. Most
would think Folsom would struggle this
year with as many senior starters who
graduated, but the Bulldogs are ready to
prove any doubters wrong.
Jake is back at quarterback. Browning,
of course, has moved on to the University of Washington, but Jake Jeffrey, who
started at wide receiver last year, is now
the starting quarterback. Jeffrey only has

With running backs Tre Green and
Roger Neal in the backfield, Folsoms
ground game should be strong.
Make no mistake, Jeffrey can and will
pass it too.
Jake is competitive as all get out; hes a
fiery guy, Folsom co-coach Kris Richardson said. Hes a very dynamic runner
and will be a dual threat. Hes extremely
intelligent and he learned the offense as
a wide receiver, which will help him. He
also got plenty of reps last year as quarterback. Hes got a strong arm, can spin
the ball well and has great anticipation.
Nothing leads me to believe our offense
is going to slow down since Jake Browning is gone. Jake Jeffrey will get the job
done and do it in a big way.

I feel good about our defense and am
excited about our defensive backs and linebackers, Richardson said. I think our linebackers could be the strength of the

of offense were going to play, Richardson

said. Were going to run the ball more, but
weve also got complete confidence in our
passing game. Defensively, weve also got to
figure out what type of team were going to
be. I love our athleticism. If our seniors like
Neal, Torres, Kim and Huber have big years,
were going to be good.
If it all plays out the way the coaching
staff hopes, it could be another big year for
the Bulldogs.
We just show up day in and day out and
put the work in, Richardson said. We
dont put emphasis on anything else. We
just execute to the best of our ability. If we
do that and continue to improve as the season goes on, we will compete for a championship, which is what we want to do.

ominant is the best word used to

describe the Bulldogs this season; winning all 16 games with a
running clock in the fourth quarter.
The teams closest game by final score was
31 points in Folsoms Nor-Cal title 52-21 win
over Grant, a game which the Pacers scored
two late touchdowns in the games final minutes against Folsoms second-string defense.
The Bulldogs won three games by 35 points,
all in the Sierra Foothill League, defeating Del
Oro and Oak Ridge by identical 42-7 scores,
while defeating Rocklin 56-21. The 21 points
scored by Rocklin were the most given up by
the Bulldogs first-team defense.
Breaking down the scoring further shows
Folsoms dominance. The Bulldogs outscored
opponents 663-43 in the first half of games
this season, an average score of 41-2. The team
only allowed 13 points in the first quarter all
season, six by Pleasant Grove in the third
game and then Oceansides touchdown on

Friday.
In the teams six playoff games, Folsom
outscored opponents 245-7 in the first half.
