THE END
(ACTIVITY NUMBER 5)
COMMENTS:
Dear students:
In general the script for the puppet play is very good but I would like
you to consider some suggestions.
1. The didactic sequence is only one developed in a number of
different classes. I would like you to consider that for 5th and 6th
Year this plot is too childish. I would use this play with younger
children, maybe in 4th Year.
2. Five classes mean a months time!!! Can you imagine spending
a whole month on this issue considering that sometimes there is
only one class a week?
3. The activities you designed are very nice and could be
developed as follows:
WARM UP: Activities one and two as warm up since , as you
said, you are just activating prior knowledge. (20)
BODY OF THE LESSON: Showing the play itself. I do not see
the purpose of giving them the script (which I have only slightly
modified) but if you do, they could dramatize it in the future
producing the costuimes together with the Art teacher.
FOLLOW UP ACTIVITIES: Maybe this could take another class
or could be assigned as homework. Drawing their favourite
character might take them ages, and it is not an Art lesson.
Why dont you give them pictures showing different scenes so
11
that they put the story in order? I liked the activity about I Like/ I
dont like to describe the characters/events using adjectives.
I cannot see the point of activity 4 and the crossword
puzzle looks like a good idea to review vocabulary seen
in the story. You should decide which lexical items are worth
revising.
