For example, when the eye comes into contact with a color, visual consciousness arises. This is simply awareness of a color; it does not recognize the color – perception causes recognition and thus labelling. It operates in the present only. 7th. The sixth consciousness – Mental Consciousness – carries the activity of thinking and analyzes the perceptions of the senses. It can also EMOTION (KLESHA) analyze in relation to past, present and future. CONSCIOUSNESS The seventh consciousness is the Emotion or Klesha consciousness. This level of consciousness interprets the energy coming from the Alaya as a solidly existing, separate self, and reacts with clinging, aversion or ignorance. 8th. The eighth consciousness is the Alaya, the storehouse consciousness where habits / karmic imprints are stored. It is also present STOREHOUSE moment awareness. All thoughts arise from and go back to this state; it is the ground awareness. This level of consciousness is very CONSCIOUSNESS subtle and vast like an ocean. (ALAYA)
