Frostproof, Florida
Pastors Remarks
Dear Church Family,
How quickly the days and months go by. School has started and summer is
almost gone, although the sweltering heat is still with us. But I guess that is
Florida. We expect it.
On Wednesdays evenings, in our discipleship time, we have been in a study
called Signs of the Second Coming. It has been an interesting yet
challenging Bible study that has reminded us of the fact that Jesus is
coming again, and we can know some things that will take place in the last
days. It is a reminder to all of us that we live in urgent times. It is of utmost
importance that we focus and direct our attention to reaching the lost and
unchurched, or the never-churched. We dare not lose sight of our mission
as a church - making disciples. Even though we might be doing some
good things, if we do not make disciples then we are failing to do the best
thing.
I appreciate our LIFE Group teachers and leaders and their faithfulness.
They spend a lot of time preparing, teaching the Bible and ministering to
their class members. Please pray for and support your leaders. Be faithful
in attendance and if you are not already involved, ask them what you can
do to help in reaching and ministering to the people in your sphere.
In a few days I will be sharing with everyone about ReConnect, a
campaign to help us emphasize our LIFE Group discipleship ministry. It
will include a Connection (high attendance day), an outreach
burst (visitation and outreach) and an emphasis on a simple gospel
presentation. Be watching for more details to soon follow.
I am currently doing a series of messages, on Sunday mornings, on
Spiritual Warfare. Lets not forget that we have an enemy who attacks
individuals, the family, the church and society, in order to render them
ineffective for God. I hope you will be present to hear and heed, so that you
will prevail and be victorious in your life. There is victory in Jesus!
In His love,
Bro. Darrol

The Hearth Project began in 1991 as one of a few pilot programs in Florida. The program is
responsible for ensuring the educational right of homeless students as outlined in the McKinney-Vento
Federal Law. Hearth identified over 3,793 homeless students during the 2013-2014 school year. The
term homeless children and youth means individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime
residence.
In the past 18 years, the HEARTH Project has provided new jackets for students in the Polk County
public school system who meet the federal criteria as homeless, or who are at risk of becoming
homeless. The jackets are distributed to the students during the first week of December. In 2013, 893
new jackets were given out. Various sizes are needed, from Kindergarten, Middle School and High
School. Monetary donations are accepted for the purchase of new jackets. Please make checks payable
to the Polk Education Foundation with Hearth Project noted on the memo line and can be mailed to the
Hearth Project at P.O. Box 391 Bartow, FL 33831. All monetary donations will generate a thank you
letter with the Foundations 501 (3) determination for tax purposes.
Project Fill-a-Bag, collecting hygiene items needed for the Hear th students. Each hygiene pack
should minimally include; 2 IN 1 shampoo/conditioner, bath soap, deodorant, toothbrushes/toothpaste,
brush/combs and wash cloths. We ask that new full sized items only be used when filling the gallon
sized zip lock bags. Our church goal is to complete 75 bags by the first of October.
Additional miscellaneous items needed are:
Gift cards from local stores to give to unaccompanied high school students and families for their
food and clothing needs.
Belts in a variety of sizes in black, navy blue, or brown for boys and girls to help meet the uniform
requirements.
We appreciate any items you may be able to donate which will help us meet each individual need.
All donations may be brought to the church office.
