Each year the Massachusetts

leglsS.ature sponsors a day when


hlgh school students, one per

hlgh school, are lnvlted to take


over the dutles of the state
government. On Frlday, Aprl1 3,
Regt LeCcurs, of the vocatlonal
school, and I (Ron Bentley)
went to nepresent Weymouth at
the State House. It wao an event*
fuL day, startlng wLth a
greetlng fron Gov. Sargeant,
who addressed a Jolnt sesslon of
the House and Senate, and the
lntroductlon of the Constttutlonal Offlcers and thelr student counterparts. Maurlce
Donohue, Robert Quinn, and Robert
Crane were some of the offlclals
who took pant. All of the
proceedlngs were shown on l1ve
TV. After a recess was declared,
we were allowed to go to the
varLous commlttee hearlngs to
testlfy for or agalnst a b1L1,
and leann more about the proceeClngs of bll.Ls as they progress ln ccmmlttees. I sat ln
