Our well-respected American Red Cross swim program is praised by parents year after year for its condence-building approach, where children progress at their own pace. Safety is our priority and all JCC aquatics staff are certied American Red Cross lifeguards with CPR professional rescue training.

Girls 4th5th grade Seasoned campers love this program. Along with favorite activities, weekly eld trips and a special late night undernighter encouraging independence, girls choose their own specialty activities to enjoy three times a week. Campers swim four days each week, daven daily and learn with our Camp Rabbi twice each week.

Machaneh Yedidim 4 yrs Machaneh Chaverim Kindergarten

9:30am2pm Yedidim campers must be fully toilet trained Specially trained counselors guide little campers through camp activities and traditional Orthodox teachings in telot, mitzvot and brachot. Small groups help campers build condence and develop friendships while enjoying fun-lled days of swim instruction, art, sports and more. Yedidim swims 2 times per week and Chaverim 3 times. Girls 6th8th grade In this exciting program of discovery and adventure, girls head out three times a week on eld trips and enjoy one super late undernighter to bond with friends. The other two days each week, campers participate in favorite activities and choice specialties including swimming, social action and Judaic learning.

Boys 1st3rd grade Combines sports activities with innovative Judaic curriculum. Develop skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Take eld trips, enjoy late night programs, swim four days each week, daven daily and learn with our Camp Rabbi twice each week.

Our camp philosophy is deeply rooted in the Jewish values that have guided and enriched our community for generations. We weave these teachings into virtually every activity allowing campers to absorb them through their experiences. There is davening daily and campers participate in Judaic learning led by our dynamic team of rabbis and Jewish educators who engage them in creative ways including games, songs, crafts, stories and even sports!

CIT Program
Girls 8th9th grade | Boys 8th9th grade Teens learn, in gender-specic training groups and assignments, the skills and responsibilities of a JCC counselor. CITs assist with swimming, art, sports and games and go on special eld trips. Hands-on experiences and training by professional staff help CITs develop leadership and communications skills.

Machaneh Sport Vod

Boys 4th5th grade Find more choice and compelling Jewish study in this competitive sports program focusing on improving skills and developing sportsmanship. Campers choose specialties, swim four days each week, daven twice daily and have a Judaic specialty with the Camp Rabbi twice each week. Weekly eld trips and a late night undernighter add excitement and encourage independence.

As superb role models they teach responsibility, cooperation and repairing our world as campers swim in the pool, develop a new skill or play a favorite sport.

Wendy Singer has a passion for camping and brings her energy and enthusiasm to Bernard Horwich JCC, creating a caring, cooperative camp environment. She has an MS degree from Spertus College and prior to joining us in 2005, was the assistant director at JCC Camp Chi Overnight Camp and the childrens coordinator at the Hyde Park JCC. Wendy is a strong leader and strives to achieve the perfect balance of fun and learning at Bernard Horwich JCC and Chavayah Overnight Camp for Girls.

Boys 6th8th grade This on-the-go experience combines adventure with Judaic learning and daily davening. Boys head out three times a week on full-day eld trips.
