NOTICE
Read these instructions carefully, and look at the equipment to become familiar with the device before
trying to install, operate, or maintain it. The following special messages may appear throughout this
documentation or on the equipment to warn of potential hazards or to call attention to information that
clarifies or simplifies a procedure.
The addition of one of these symbols to a "Danger" safety label on a device indicates that an
electrical hazard exists, which will result in death or personal injury if the instructions are not
followed.
This is the safety alert symbol. It warns you of a risk of physical injury. You must comply
strictly with the safety instructions associated with this symbol to avoid injuring yourself or
putting your life in danger.
DANGER
DANGER indicates an imminently hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, will result in death or
serious injury.
WARNING

CAUTION
CAUTION indicates a potentially hazardous situation which could result in minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE
NOTICE indicates practices that do not involve the risk of bodily injury.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Electrical equipment should be installed, serviced, and maintained only by qualified personnel. No
responsibility is assumed by Schneider Electric for any consequences arising out of the use of this
equipment.
A qualified person is one who has skills and knowledge related to the construction, operation and
installation of electrical equipment, and has undertaken safety training in how to identify and avoid the
hazards involved.
This device must not be installed or used if you notice that it is damaged.
The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for failure to follow the instructions given in this instruction
sheet.

Overvoltage Protection
These protective devices complement the surge arresters already in the charging station.
Power links:
Each plug and socket-outlet must be individually protected by a type 2 surge arrester Up = 1.5 kV
(e.g. iQuick PRD40) which provides coordination regardless of the distance between the charging
station and the switchboard.
230 V control links:
This input must be protected by a type 2 surge arrester Up = 1.5 kV (e.g. iQuick PRD40).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure that the surge arrester cartridges are fully inserted before
commissioning the charging station.
For more information about overvoltage protection, refer to the Electrical Installation Manual,
Overvoltage Protection.

Storage
The charging stations are supplied in individual cardboard boxes. When commissioning the product, all
the protection for transport must be removed before energization. We recommend storing the charging
stations in their packaging, sheltered from rain and damp.
Transport
Throughout the transport phase, take all necessary measures to keep the pallet stable.
Equipment Handling
EVlink Parking charging stations must be handled by two people as specified in the Employment Code.

6. Installation
WARNING
RISK OF DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT DURING INSTALLATION
The charging station must be protected against harsh weather conditions and splashing water.
When manipulating and wall-mounting the cables, put the cover on and protect the charging
station to prevent dust getting in.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in death, serious injury or equipment damage.

7. Connections
DANGER
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH
Turn off all power supplying this equipment before working on the equipment.
Always use an appropriate voltage detection device to confirm the absence of voltage.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
RISK OF DAMAGING THE CHARGING STATION
Do not touch the circuit boards.
Use ESD (electrostatic discharge) equipment when working in the enclosure.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
The electrical connections must be made by a qualified professional in compliance with current local
regulations. These operations must always be performed with the unit switched off.
The cables enter from below on a floor standing charging station, and from below or from above for a
wall mounted charging station.
The protection index which the installation must comply with concerns the whole parking unit as well as
the connection components (tubes, cable ducting, cables, cable glands).
To this end, it is essential to tighten all the cable glands on the cables and replace any unused cable
glands with the plugs supplied with the unit.

(*) The conductor cable cross-section should be determined in accordance with standard IEC 60364-5-52.
26/52
DOCA0061EN-01 - 07/2013
For the EVlink Parking charging station, the recommended cross-section between the protection
switchboard and the charging station is as follows:

NOTE:
The cable cross-section depends on the type of installation, the insulation used and the temperature.
Refer to the requirements of standard IEC/EN 60364 for the country of installation, for example
NFC15-100 in France.
Connecting to Ground
DANGER
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH
Measure the ground resistivity with a ground current meter before inserting the ground rod.
Do not commission the charging station and do not use it if the resistivity is higher than the
threshold defined in current local regulations.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
Ground (t)
DANGER
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH
Follow the grounding recommendations below.
Follow the recommendations for protection against insulation faults below.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
Neutral Point Connections
The charging station can be connected directly to the following distribution systems:
With TT earthing system and installation ground resistance less than 150
With TN earthing system and installation ground resistance less than 150
DOCA0061EN-01 - 07/2013
27/52
An isolating transformer with separate windings must be connected upstream of the charging stationon
distribution systems:
With TN earthing system and installation ground resistance higher than 150
With IT earthing system and installation ground resistance less than 150
Charging stations must not be connected directly to distribution systems with an IT earthing system.
Earth Connections
An additional local earth connection (ground rod and mesh) must be added every 10 m maximum in the
case of a group of charging stations.
The resistance of each additional earth connection must be less than 150.
All earth connections must be interconnected with one another.
Special Case for TN Earthing System
The electrical installation upstream of the charging station must be designed in such a way that the
neutral cannot be disconnected accidentally.
The earth network must comply with the following conditions:
With an interconnected earth network, the transformer neutral must always be connected to the earth
network.
If this condition cannot be ensured, a local earth must be created, and a distribution system with TT
earthing system and installation ground resistance less than 150 must be recreated.

The Cat 5 or Cat 6 copper Ethernet link must be less than 90 m between the charging station and the
controller Ethernet switch (see Single-Phase Connection Diagram with Load-Shedding and Peak/OffPeak Hours Management Options, page 11). We recommend always connecting the Ethernet link so
that a group of charging stations can be connected at a later date.
The Ethernet link is connected directly to the Ethernet connector. The communication cable should be
moved into the protection and control cabinet. This cable must have an RJ45 connector at each end.

Connect the connector(s) to the various devices as indicated on the diagrams above.
Then connect them to the connector(s) on the circuit board, as indicated above.
Caution, it is essential to use the ring with 2 holes to pass this cable through the same

DOCA0061EN-01 - 07/2013
Action
Use an insulated tool to briefly press on the moving part of the contactor (KM1).
The MNx auxiliary should then immediately command the circuit breaker supplying power to
the charging station to open.
If the circuit breaker does not trip, check the connection of the MNx circuit breaker auxiliary.
Action

End-of-Life Recycling
Products in the EVlink Parking range have been optimized to reduce the amount of waste produced
at the end of their useful life and for better recovery of component parts and materials when following
customary processing procedures. Products have been designed so that their components can be
processed by conventional procedures: decontamination where this is recommended, reuse and/or
dismantling in order to improve recycling performance, and crushing to separate out the rest of the
materials.
