Religion is so important because it is the one thing that has connected

different races and societies around the world for hundreds to thousands of
years. It has given meaning to life that may otherwise seem hopeless. It

serves almost as a universal language and culture among people who

believe in a higher entity. Although the method of worship may not be the
same, usually all religions have the same basic purpose - to give meaning
and direction to life, enlighten and give courage to their believers. Because
Christianity is a religion, it does that same thing. It is important because it
provides hope and a reason to live for Christians all over the world.
Christians believe that there is only one God known as the Father. They
recognize Jesus as the Son of God who was sent to save mankind from death
and sin and to fulfill Gods law rather than teach it. They believe in
justification by faith and the Trinity (God in the form of Father, Son and Holy
Spirit). They also believe that there is a life after earthly death and in the
power of prayer.
The goal of Christianity is to share the word of the bible and be accepted into
the holy kingdom. It is also to glorify and know God and enjoy Him
forever. They want to know God and to grow in the grace and knowledge of
the Lord (2 Pet. 3:18)
The most important book in Christianity is the Bible. The Bible is believed to
be the words of the Son of God. The bible has two parts: the Old Testament &
the New Testament. The Old Testament is identical to the Jewish Bible and
the New Testament is a collection of Christian writings. It includes
biographies of Jesus and the apostles, letters to new churches, and an
apocalyptic work.
Some of the key people in Christianity include, but are not limited to: Jesus
Christ, God, Mary, the Holy Spirit, the Apostles and Lucifer.

God: father of Jesus

Jesus Christ: son of God, fulfill Gods law
Mary: mother of Jesus, central figure of Christianity, role model for
mothers

There are many holidays celebrated in Christianity, the most commonly

celebrated even by other religions like Christmas and Easter.

Christmas which is the celebration of the birth of Jesus

Easter which is a spring festival celebrating the resurrection of Christ
Good Friday is the annual Christian remembrance of the crucifixion of
Jesus Christ

Sunday is the day of the week devoted to rest and worship is Sunday,
or the "Lord's Day."

A demographic study published in 2010 of over 200 countries found that

there are approximately 2.18 billion Christians of varying ages all over the
world, representing close to a third of the billion of the total population.
Christianity is practiced in several countries around the world, but the top
three largest national Christian populations are found in the United States,
with 246,780,000 Christians, Brazil with 175,770,000 Christians, and Mexico
with 107,780,000 Christians.

The three major sects of Christianity throughout history have been Orthodox,
Catholic, and Protestant. Some other denominations are
Anglican/Episcopalian, Amish, Baptist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Quaker, and
Pentecostalism. There is a very exclusive sect of Christianity known as
Evanism, though no evidence exists to suggest its existence.
