DISTRIBUTION
INTRODUCTION
The distribution subsystem controls the quantity of conditioned air
supplied to the cockpit and passenger cabin.
DESCRIPTION
The conditioned air that comes from the two ECUs goes to the main
distribution ducts before it gets to the cockpit and passenger cabin.
The main distribution ducts are installed below the floor between wing
spar I and center fuselage II.
The main distribution ducts control the quantity of conditioned air to
the cockpit (Ref. 21-21) and cabin (Ref. 21-22) .
This duct also has a cross-connection that supplies fresh air, through
individual gaspers, to the crewmembers and passengers (Ref. 21-23)
. This cross-connection also supplies fresh air to the rear electronic
compartment.
The figure AIR DISTRIBUTION - MAIN COMPONENTS shows the
location of the system main components.
The DISTRIBUTION includes this (these) sub-subsystem(s):

RAM AIR DISTRIBUTION (21-25)

MAIN DISTRIBUTION DUCTS

The ram air distribution system supplies outside air to the cabin and
cockpit air distribution if a failure of the two ECUs occurs.

The main distribution ducts control the quantity of conditioned air to

the cockpit and passenger cabin. They also distribute the hot or cold
air to the related hot or cold air ducts in the passenger cabin. The
ducts are insulated and mechanically protected by adhesive tape.
They have equalizing pressure holes in the lower part of the ducts.
This prevents inflating effect and insulating damage in the ducts.

ELECTRONIC COMPARTMENT VENTILATION SYSTEM (21-26)

The electronic compartment ventilation system supplies sufficient

ventilation to the forward and rear electronic compartments to prevent
overtemperatures during the aircraft operation on the ground or in
flight.

COCKPIT DISTRIBUTION (21-21)

BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT VENTILATION SYSTEM (21-27)

The cockpit distribution system receives conditioned air flow from the
main distribution ducts and distributes this air to the cockpit.

(Only for aircraft equipped with Class-C Baggage Compartment).

PASSENGER CABIN DISTRIBUTION (21-22)

The passenger cabin distribution system receives conditioned air

from the main distribution ducts and distributes this air to the passenger cabin.
GASPER (21-23)

The gasper system receives air from the main distribution ducts or
from the gasper fan and distributes this air for ventilation of the
cockpit, passenger cabin, lavatory, rear electronic compartment,
oxygen cylinder compartment, and relay boxes.
RECIRCULATION (21-24)

The baggage compartment ventilation system has the function of

ventilating the baggage compartment.
OPERATION
The conditioned air from the ECUs and recirculation air flows through
the main distribution ducts, in the pressurized cabin. Approximately
70% of the supply air flows to the passenger compartment. The
remaining 30% flows to the cockpit. One air conditioning system
supplies air to the passenger compartment and the other to the
cockpit. These proportions are correct for two packs in operation. If a
failure of one pack occurs, the remaining pack supplies the two
compartments through a cross-connection.
The figure AIR DISTRIBUTION - OPERATION shows the relationship between the main subsystems.

The recirculation system has two fans operated by one switch installed
on the AIR CONDITIONING/PNEUMATIC control panel. The recirculation fans supply air to the ECU outlets.
