Update REG-PE(D)
with REG-PE(D)-Loader
1. Necessary Hard- and Software
For a successful Firmware/Parameter update the Update-Tool REG-PE(D)-Loader is necessary. You also will
need both, a Zero-Modem-Cable (best with original AEberle equipment) and an Ethernet cat-Cable.

2. Preparation
Execute the installed REG-PE(D)-Loader.
Before entering your setup-data, please first push the
Settings button.

3. Updating the
REG-PE Firmware
Please enter a valid IP address of REG-PE(D), an
Netmask and the IP address of your PC. If necessary
please also enter the Gateway address, the IP address of REG-PED (second port) and the Netmask
(second port).
Then please enter the path to the Ramdisk-Image.
Navigate, using the -Button, to Firmwarecontainerfile with edc-extension (EDC, Enhanced Data
Container):

Please enter the number of the COM-Port youd like
to use, and fill the Login-Data according to the
picture 1. Then please press the OK button.
Connect the Serial-cable (delivered with the a.eberledevice) to the PARAM port of the REG-PE(D) card in
case of external REG-PE(D) or to the Serial connector
which is attached via cables to spring clips 87 to 90 in
case of REG-D(P)A.
Additionally an Ethernet-Connection to LAN has to be
present. This means, the REG-PE(D) and the PC with
REG-PE(D)-Loader running need to be in the same
Network.

Last please tag all entries you have changed (see also
picture 2) and press the Update button. If you navigate to the Terminal-Tab, you should see messages,
showing you the process.

1 NOTE:
The System has to reboot before starting the Parameter update. This is why please wait a minimum
amount of 1 min after Firmware update.

4. Updating the Parameter

After the Firmware update process ended successfully, you have to navigate to the Parameter updateTab. There you have to enter the path to the jffs2.tar
and the restore.sh. You can find the corresponding
files at <yourpath>\Settings\jffs2.tar and <yourpath>\Settings\restore.sh
Then please push the Update button again.

5. Getting configuration
from device
If there are any user-specific changes running on the
device, such as VrtCmd or special Device configurations, you maybe wish to download those changes. To
do that, navigate to the Parameter update-Tab.
Enter the IP-Address of the device to be backed up
and use the Get-Button to download the jffs2.tar file.

CONGRATULATIONS!
You now have successfully updated your REG-PE(D).

You can check the process by opening a Internet Explorer window and entering the IP address of REGPE(D) to the URL-line.
The REG-PE(D) then asks for a User-Name and default
Password. Please enter the following Data:
User: Admin
Password: teledata
Please mind the leading capital letter A of Username.
With pressing the return button the web-interface
will be loaded.
