The Ballarat Clergy Support Fund: provides for retired priests who have spent
many years in ministry. The Fund is currently supporting and caring for 18 retired
priests. Over the next few years a number of priests, currently in parish ministry, will
be moving into retirement and will also need to be supported by the Fund. The annual
collection has allowed the Fund to continue to support our sick and retired clergy.
Please help us continue caring for those who cared for us. Special envelopes are
available for this collection.
New Office & Refurbishment: As you will have noticed a fence has been erected
around the construction area. Church activities will continue as normal although there
will be limited parking. Parish parking will also be available off Fairy Street via the
laneway next to Darrian Office Supplies. A temporary office is currently located at
the western end of the car park. We ask for your patience and understanding during
the process as there will be some inconvenience.
The new Stewardship Program began last weekend. Our weekly tallies will now be
printed monthly to account for parishioners who have pledged by Direct Debit or
Credit Card. This will give a truer reflection of monies received.
Counters: This week: Team 7: Pat Blackney (5562 7189)
Next week: Team 8: Stan Carroll (5562 7658)

24th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Golden Jubilee: Fr Barry Ryan
Fr Barry was ordained at St Josephs on 21st July, 1965. This was the first
Ordination that Bishop OCollins celebrated in a parish church outside St Patricks
Cathedral, Ballarat. Following Communion today there will be a short PowerPoint
presentation of Fr Barrys Ordination. Refreshments follow Mass and during the
cuppa well learn more about his journey with some pictures and commentary.

Sr Cecilia Gleeson
On Friday we fare-welled Sr Cecilia. She relocated quietly without fuss as was her
wish. We are truly indebted to her - especially her contribution to the liturgical life
(music) of the parish, as well as her contribution to justice issues. Sr Cecilia will be
sorely missed by our community. We wish her well as she relocates to Melbourne.

Online Diocesan Training

Re Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults
Thank you for your response to Bishop Paul Birds correspondence in regards to
completing the online training course to be distributed by the Diocesan Professional
Standards office. The training relates to two diocesan documents: Safeguarding
Children and Vulnerable Adults and Code of Conduct for Caring for Children.
The training aims to ensure that all those who work with children and persons in
positions of responsibility in our parishes have read and understand the
documents.
The names and email addresses were forwarded to Ballarat on Friday.
Child Protection Sunday: Be Someone Who Listens To Children: How do we, the
Catholic Church, play our part today in creating safe and supportive environments
where we listen to children and work to ensure they are protected from harm? The
above online training is one way. Also there are various websites available:
cybersmart.gov.au; communications.gov.au/easyguide
