ACRONYMS:

They are initials of phrases. They are spoken as single word as given
below:
1) FAQ(Frequently Asked Questions)
2) Laser (light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) : it is a
process for increasing the intensity and to converge light on a single spot .
3) NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration): The National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is the United States
government agency responsible for the civilian space program as well as
aeronautics and aerospace research.
4) NUST (National University of science and technology) : It is Pakistani
institution of engineering and basic sciences .
5) ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers): it is American

society which define mechanical engineering standards and various


definitions.
6) LAN (Local Area Network): A local area network (LAN) is a computer
network that interconnects computers within a limited area such as a
home, school, computer laboratory, or office

7) ANSI (American national standard institute) : it is American society


which define engineering standards.
8) WI-FI (wireless fidelity): Wi-Fi is the name of a popular wireless
networking technology that uses radio waves to provide wireless highspeed Internet and network connections.
9) MOSFET (metaloxidesemiconductor field-effect). It is a type of modern
transistors used in many electronic technologies.

1) FOS: factor of safety: It is a term used for safety and to avoid any defect
during production of components.
2) SMAW (submerged metal arc welding): it is a type of arc welding done
with the help of electricity.
3) HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning): is the technology of
indoor and vehicular environmental comfort. Its goal is to provide thermal
comfort and acceptable indoor air quality.
4) USB: (universal serial bus) : It is also known as flash memory device .It is
used for storage and for transferring data.
5) APU: (axillary power unit) : It is a power unit used in various gear
production.
6) ICE (Internal combustion engine): it consists of various process which
helps in driving engine of a vehicle.
7) IC (Integrated circuit): It is basically a silicon chip on which many
electronic components and paths are embedded. It is important part of
