Cockpit - Disinsect/Disinfect
A.

General
(1)

This task gives the procedure to do the disinsection/disinfection of the cockpit interior.

(2)

Only the persons necessary for this procedure can go into the aircraft during the task.

(3)

Embraer recommends that you do this task when you think there is infestation or when there
is sign of infestation on the aircraft.

(4)

Embraer recommends that you do the aircraft disinsection procedure during the overnight.

(5)

SUBTASK 841-001-A
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS IN A SAFE CONDITION BEFORE
YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. THIS IS TO PREVENT
INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(1)

Do the procedure to make the aircraft safe for maintenance (AMM TASK
20-00-00-910-801-A/200).

(2)

Do the aircraft normal parking procedures (AMM TASK 10-10-01-500-801-A/200).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE DOWNLOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL
LANDING GEAR UNITS. WHEN YOU MOVE THE LANDING-GEAR
CONTROL LEVER, THE LANDING GEAR CAN RETRACT AND CAUSE
INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
Make sure that the landing gear safety pins are installed (AMM TASK
32-00-05-400-801-A/400).

(4)

Open the cockpit door and the direct-vision window (AMM SDS 56-12-00/1).

(5)

Put WARNING notes in the areas that tell persons that the aircraft will be disinfected.

(6)

Use a plastic cover to protect the cushions and the backrests of the pilot seats and
observer seat.

Cockpit Interior - Disinsection


SUBTASK 670-003-A

PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING.

DO NOT LET THE MATERIAL GET IN YOUR MOUTH.

DO NOT SMOKE NEAR THE WORK AREA.

DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS.

THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE AND CAN


CAUSE SKIN OR EYE IRRITATION. IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES SHOW SIGNS
OF IRRITATION, GET MEDICAL AID IMMEDIATELY.
WARNING: OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW WHEN YOU USE CLEANING
AGENTS:

WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES.

WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING.

DO NOT LET CLEANING AGENTS TOUCH YOUR SKIN, EYES, AND


MOUTH.

WORK IN AN AREA THAT HAS A GOOD AIRFLOW.

OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS.

GET MEDICAL AID IF IRRITATION OCCURS.

CLEANING AGENTS CAN CAUSE INJURIES.

AND APPLY CLEANING, DISINFECTANT AND INSECTICIDE SOLUTIONS.

DEATH.

Apply the approved insecticide to the areas below:


(a)

Joints, splices, corners and rifts.

(b)

Along the joints of the sidewalls with dado panels, and dado panels with the floor.

(c)

Seat attachment rails.

(d)

Joints of the windscreens with the floor.

(e)

Inside the compartments.

To the joints of the walls with the floor.

(g)

Joints of the cockpit door with the door opening.

(h)

Throughout the floor area.

(2)

Keep the direct-vision windows and the cockpit door closed for 45 minutes minimum
after the cockpit disinsection.

(3)

After this time, open the cockpit door and direct-vision windows. Keep them open for 1
hour minimum to remove the disinsection gas.

Cockpit Interior - Disinfection

WARNING: PUT ON RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTION CLOTHES WHEN YOU
USE CLEANING AND DISINFECTANT SOLUTION. THESE PRODUCTS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO YOU.
WARNING: OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU PREPARE AND APPLY
CLEANING, DISINFECTANT AND INSECTICIDE SOLUTIONS. THESE PRODUCTS
CONTAIN DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES THAT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE
AIRCRAFT AND CAN CAUSE ILLNESS OR DEATH.
CAUTION: OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU PREPARE AND APPLY
CLEANING AND DISINFECTANT SOLUTIONS. IF THESE PRODUCTS ARE STRONGER
THAN THE ONES SPECIFIED, THEY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DECORATIVE
SURFACES.
SUBTASK 670-007-A
(1)

Do the cockpit disinfection as follows:


(a)

Selected Aircraft: 151

(b)

Prepare a solution of CALLA 301A LEMON with cool or lukewarm water 32 49


C (90 - 120 F).
NOTE:

The solution is 1 part of CALLA 301A LEMON to 4 - 8 parts of


water.

You can apply the solution with a spray bottle, soft bristled brush or
cotton cloth.

Do not apply CALLA 301A LEMON to the tissue finishing.

CALLA 301A LEMON can be used on the painted, acrylic and


metallic parts.

Lightly dampen the cloth with the solution and disinfect the surface with circular
movements.
NOTE: Do not let excess solution to be forced from the sponge or cloth into the
surface.

Job Close-Up

If necessary, do the internal cleaning procedure (AMM TASK 12-22-01-100-807-A/


300).

(2)

Remove the plastic cover from the cushions and the backrests of the pilot seats and
observer seat.

(3)

Close the cockpit door and the direct-vision window (AMM SDS 56-12-00/1).

(4)

Remove the workstand from under the forward passenger door and forward service
door.
