Become Our Columnist

St. Anastasia Bulletin informs our community about
news and events in our parish, cluster and neighborhood and in a special way unites us as parishioners.
However, there are so many things we could publish if
we just shared with others our knowledge, passion or
sometimes hobbies. You dont have to be a doctor, realtor or lawyer to publish very useful issues. If you like to
read, travel or just dine out you can share with us
what you find interesting, inspiring or simply yummy. If
you are interested in contributing to our Bulletin in any
shape or form, call Fr. Chris at (718) 631-4454 or email
at youth@stanastasia.info

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Andrew Crocker-Harris is an embittered and disliked

teacher of Greek and Latin at a British prep school. After
nearly 20 years of service, he is being forced to retire on
the pretext of his health, and perhaps may not even be
given a pension. The boys regard him as a Hitler, with
some justification. His wife Laura is unfaithful, and lives to
wound him any way she can. Andrew must come to
terms with his failed life and regain at least his own selfrespect.
The film is based on the 1948 play by Terence Rattigan
and was nominated for the Golden Palm award at the
Cannes Film Festival and won the Best Actor (Albert Finney) Award at the Boston Society of Film Critics Awards
in 1994.
Starring: Albert Finney, Greta Scacchi, Matthew Modine,
Julian Sands and Michael Gambon.
UK (1994) R-rated, 1:37 hr.

The Douglaston and Little Neck Historical Society invites you to join in a celebration of Little Neck History
with a House Tour and Reception on

wagon shop, now the Arash Real Estate Company,
see the exhibit of photos and memorabilia from the
Wright family archives, on loan from Jennie Wright
Cooper, granddaughter. Tour other houses in the
Westmoreland are, and enjoy the reception on Iowa
Road around the pool with food and drink by the Fran
Zaslow firm.

or call (718) 225-4403 for information.

The Catholic Church of England and Wales is using a cartoon campaign to encourage young people from 10 years
old upwards to think about becoming a priest or a member
of a religious order. The website, www.calledtoday.com was
launched in 2007 along with posters that were sent to
schools and churches. Lets hope it works.
Happy surfing,

Sister Leah belongs to a worldwide congregation

of apostolic sisters. She lives in a small community house in town and works as a parish sister.

The parish and schools

are at the heart of our
community. Working as
part of a busy parish
team brings me into contact with people from all
walks of life. I feel very
lucky to have so many
opportunities to be a witness to the Gospel.

Personal prayer is vital to

my deepening relationship with the Lord. This
is something to be shared
and once a month, young
people from the parish
join us for a prayer and
scripture study evening.

The Sisters live in

smaller houses rather
than traditional convents, but living together
as a vowed community,
having common prayer,
sharing meals and recreation time remains
central to our way of life.

Father Michael is a diocesan priest and is currently serving in a busy suburban parish which
also has two catholic schools.
Autumn Recipes Wanted
We would like to enrich the October 26 issue of our Bulletin by
some autumn recipes for anything (main courses, snacks or
desserts), namely anything that
tastes so good this season, or
just utilizes seasonal ingredients. Drop us your favorite recipe at the Rectory, or email us at
info@stanastasia.info

Deadline: Tuesday, October 21.

Thank you,
DISCLAIMER: ST. ANASTASIA BULLETIN
WILL NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU, IN THE
PROCESS, GAIN SOME WEIGHT.

People from many different backgrounds make

up our vibrant parish
family. Sunday Mass is
at the heart of our community, it is when the
people of God come together to worship.

Home visits, taking communion to those who are

in hospital or housebound and visiting our
schools are all part of my
service within the support network of the parish team.

The Eucharist is the

heart and life of a priest's
ministry. When we
gather together for the
Eucharist, Jesus draws
us deep into his sacrifice
and gives us his own
body and blood, the gift
of himself.
