Abstract
In this study flyash and sugarcane fibre a used as a stabilizing material to stabilize the black cotton soil and dealing with index
properties as the parameter for it. Flyash and sugarcane fibre are mixed separately in 9%, 18%, 27% and the change in its index
property is examined. It is observed that a significant variation in liquid limit, plasticity index, shrinkage limit and swelling
index. Liquid limit decreased from 46.23% to 35.85%. Plastic limit increased 26 % to 27.33%. Plasticity index decreased from
19.73 % to 10.54%. The values of DFS examine decreased 40% to 20%. Shrinkage limit increased from 11.76 % to 17.41%.

I. INTRODUCTION
Black cotton soil also known as expansive soil covers about 16% of total area of country. Designing and constructing of any
structure on black cotton soil is quite challengeable and problematic for an engineer due to its property of volume change when
comes in contact with water. The term soil improvement is used the technique which improve the index property and other
engineering characteristic of weak soil in India expansive soil cover 0.8 x 10 6 Km2 which approximately 1/5 of its surface area.
These soil content montmorillonite mineral due to this they swell and shrink excessively with change of water content. The fly
ash easily available in thermal power plants i.e. Sarni & Veersingpur (M.P.). The fly ash as use a stabilization material
effectively. Sugar cane fibre is second material to stabilization of soil. It is easily available at Juice Center and Sugar Factories.
The fibre cut 0.5cm as stabilization material.
Black cotton soil collected from JEC Jabalpur campus and sugarcane fibre collected from Juice Center.

V. METHODOLOGY
Before conducting some index property test the value of soil is checked by the sieve analysis. A sample of Black cotton collected
from field is dried in oven and then sieved from 4.25mm sieve. The sieved soil is then mixed with flyash in defined percentage
of 9%, 18% and 27%. Then after performing test on flyash mixed soil and obtaining flyash % at which soil is stabilized to its
maximum level, sugarcane fibre is added in 2%, 4%, 6%. Then various tests are performed to determine the results.
A. Sieve Analysis
BC Soil + 0% fly ash = CF0
BC Soil + 9% fly ash = CF1
BC Soil + 18% fly ash = CF2
BC Soil + 27% fly ash = CF3

VII. CONCLUSION
1) With Fly ash percentage increased with soil the liquid limit gets decreased ith BC soil liquid limit decreased from 46.23 to
35.85(%).
2) With Fly ash percentage increased with soil The Plastic limit increased from 26 to 27.33(%).
3) With Fly ash percentage increased with soil Plasticity index decreases from 19.73 to 10.54(%).
4) With Fly ash percentage increased with soil Shrinkage limit increased from 11.76 to 17.41(%).
45
5) With Fly ash percentage increased with soil DFS value decreased from 40 to 20(%).
It means the results showing fly ash more effective as stabilization material in BC soil.
