Connect with India: The Next Semiconductor Manufacturing Region

SEMICON West 2014, San Francisco - July 8-10, 2014

The Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing Opportunity in India
Electronics consumption in India will approach US$ 65 billion in 2015, growing at a CAGR of 11.5%. With 65%
of this being imported, India is looking at a trade imbalance of US$42 billion in under 2 years. Longer term
predictions have suggested that without intervention demand for electronic hardware could exceed
domestic production by US$296 billion by 2020. This huge manufacturing gap is juxtaposed against a
remarkable success story in the area of design and engineering services where global technology and
semiconductor majors operate their largest development centers, outside their countries of origin, in India
and Indian design services companies contribute as well. As a result, while significant portions of Indias
electronics consumption may be designed in the country, it is increasingly dependent on imports.
The Indian Government, through the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), has
responded and taken significant steps to boost growth of Indian electronics and system manufacturing
opening up huge opportunities in the region. These include the Modified Special Incentives Package
Scheme, approvals and government co-investments in setting up of two commercial semiconductor
fabrication units, financial support for Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) and an Electronics
Development Fund (EDF) to promote IP development and innovation. With crucial approvals from the Indian
parliament, the setting up of the two semiconductor fabs is widely expected, now, to move forward.

Connect with India Event Description

The event at SEMICON West will provide the best opportunity to connect and interact with the top policy
and decision makers who are architecting Indias push into advanced manufacturing and semiconductor
fabs, as well as key Indian promoters and technology partners. It will address issues seen as critical to the full
build out and success of Indias planned fabs including creation of the up and downstream ecosystems,
technology/market positioning and roadmap definition, building the IP and design ecosystem to feed the
fabs and ramping up to meet expertise and manpower needs of these fabs.

Who Should Attend?

Decision makers and business development executives from the following segments:
- Equipment and materials
- EHS experts
- Test/assembly/packaging products & services
- Market analysts & consultants
- Gases, chemicals and logistics
- EDA and IP companies
- Fab infrastructure, O&M & consulting services
- Product companies interested in the India market
