Discover paper or self assessment is based on three steps.

Selecting Personality Type

Psychological Test:
Psychological test is conducted for the personality evaluation. The channel used for this
evaluation is Myers-Brigs Type Indicator. That indicates the personality of candidate. So the
candidate can relate these results with his future career planning.
I have gone through this activity twice, first when I was with my friends and second
when I was alone. Here are results of both;

Personal Assessment:
ISTP: (Introverted Thinking with Senses)
These people are action-oriented and fearless, and crave excitement. They are impulsive and
dangerous to stop. They often like tools, instruments, and weapons, and often become technical
experts. They are not interested in communications and are often incorrectly diagnosed as
dyslexic or hyperactive. They tend to do badly in school.

Assessment while gathering:


ESTP: (Extroverted sensing with Thinking)
Action-oriented people, often sophisticated, sometimes ruthless, like James Bond. As mates they
are exciting and charming, but they have trouble with commitment. They make good promoters,
entrepreneurs and con artists.

Personality Type:
Hollands theory gives us six personality types. The personality type I have selected is
conventional, because I

Likes to work with numbers, records, or machines in a set, orderly way;

Generally avoids ambiguous, unstructured activities

Am well organized, conscientious, efficient, orderly, practical, systematic, structured and


polite.

Self Assessment:
1. Review the interpretative career portfolio generated from the Discover assessment.
What were your top suggested career areas? What do you think about these
suggested career areas? Did the results surprise you? Summarize the information
reported.
According to discover assessment career portfolio and examining the questionnaire
results the top results are accountant, finance manager and human resource manager. My
personality type is best fit in these careers, due to consistency, detail oriented, and many
other skills. These skills and traits are much needed for the particular career of accountant
and finance manager.
These suggested areas basically indicated by my personality type, so this is not surprising
for me. I have already planned my career is these areas.
2. How closely does this information reflect your own choice of major or career?
This information is very close to my choice and interest. My Interest is also in accounts
and finance. And I want to grow my career as a finance manager in some Multinational
Company. The result from questionnaire shows that people rated my skills more than
average, it means what I have selected as my career is close to what my personality type
says.

World of Work:
1) What activities would you like to do? What responsibilities would you like to take
on? Remember, it is best to think of work as putting forth energy, something that
you would do because of the nature of the activity itself, even if you were not
paid for it, when you think of work this way, its more likely play, an activity you
would throw yourself into without thinking how much energy is involved.

Interest:
The activity which I want do is writing, writing about current affairs, writing to
give my own opinion, research and write on particular topics, build my own think
tank or follow a particular think tank. This activity makes a person responsible for
his words, for his opinions, for hurting others, or for following some particular
thinking.
The basic responsibility is to write the truth, remain at the side of right, writing
about evil without any pressure. But this activity cant be adopted as profession, if
adopted than its hard to stick with it professionally. So if I choose to perform this
activity, I will perform it with all my energies even without getting paid.

2) Advantages and Disadvantages:


After assessing my personality type I have chosen my career as finance manager.

Advantages:

I want a detail oriented job. Like jobs related to finance are detail oriented,

they have to work on financial matters or business.


I want to do the job where I can develop my analytical skills.
I want a job where all my capabilities can be utilized.

3) Education Training:
Graduating in commerce degree will help me reaching my desired position. I have
developed my professional skills during this degree, which I needed in my career.
Further schooling and getting masters degree in this field is part of my plan. This
will help me enhance my exposure and competence in finance and helps me to
reach my ultimate goal.

I want to work with people who are enthusiastic, committed with themselves and
their work, who tends to be professionals at work place, people who helps me at
doing my work instead of stopping me from completing my tasks. I want to work
with middle aged persons because they have more experience than me, they will
motivate me, their actions will help me gaining experience, their achievements
will help me setting and achieving bigger goals. Their interests should be
professional, like they should devote towards work. Diversified culture would be
more preferable, diversified culture would make work place more competitive and
more outcomes oriented. The percentage of males should be higher.

6) Pay and Benefits:


In my view, a man should adopt a life style according to his salary and career
position. So at start, I would prefer to gain experience instead of seeking higher
pay, and will get a higher pay after gaining experience. The higher pay will define
my life style. Beginning my career in finance I would prefer to be getting paid

about 30-40 thousand. After getting experienced in my field and gaining major
professional skills I would prefer a job with handsome pay to meet my financial
obligations.

7) Working Conditions:
I would like to do inside the office job. I want an office with cooperative staff and
colleagues, with competitive environment, without negative people who tend to
do leg pulling.
All the things, meetings, plans, trips should be scheduled.
I would prefer bureaucratic style at my work place.
I would like to dress professionally or formal.

8) Location of Employment:
I would like to avail the best opportunity either in my country or outside the
country. The opportunities could be of higher pay, better career, better benefits
and environment.

9) Employment and Advancement Outlook:


Competition always led towards better performance and better performance led
towards growth. So I want to cater higher competition level at my work place. I
want to grow my professional career with experience and seeking better skills. So
with my experience and skills I will climb the ladder and will reach at the top.

Personal Satisfaction:

Personal Satisfactions relates with the preferences and expectations. What an


employee is expecting from a job, if he gets than he will be satisfied and if not
than he will remain unsatisfied with the job. Different career levels have different
expectations and different satisfaction level, beginners want more pay, middle
aged need more perquisites and retired need more benefit plans and pensions. So
in my career level, the personal satisfaction will differ with the passage of time.
