Lawin at Sisiw
(Hawk and Chickens)

Equipment: None
Number of Players:

10 to 20 players

Mechanics:
1. One player is chosen as the hawk and another as the mother hen. The rest of the
players are chickens.

2. The chickens are arranged one behind the other, holding each other's waists.
The hen leads the chickens and goes around in search of food.
The hawk meets them and tries to buy a chick from the hen.
(Story)
The hawk asks the hen, "Will you let me buy one of your chickens?" The hen
replies, "Yes, choose anyone you like." The hawk sits down and chooses a fat one.
Finally, after bargaining for the price, he pays the hen and takes the chicken with
him. He then takes the chicken off and asks her to find grains of rice for his
dinner. When the hawk falls asleep, the chicken escapes and returns to the hen.

3. When the hawk discovers that the chicken had escaped, he looks for her and
chases her.
4. The hen and the other chickens prevent the hawk from catching the chicken.
5. If the hawk succeeds in catching the chicken, he takes her again and punishes her
by making her dig around for rice grains;
6. if he fails, the game is started again, and he tries to buy another chicken.

hen of the team and the hawk for the other team. The remaining players will be

the chickens.
The chosen hens of the two groups will play jack-en-poy. The winner will have the

privilege to decide whether he/she will become the hen or hawk for the first round.
Within five minutes (5 mins.), the hawk will tag as many chickens as he/she can.
The larger number of chicken tagged will be the winner of the game. If both hawk
tagged all the chicken less than five minutes (5 mins.) (Ang grupo ng hawk na may

Variation:
1. Both teams will choose an it/ taya. There will be a total of 2 its.
2. The goal of the it is to find all the players of the opposite team.
3. The number of players from the opposite team that will be found by the it
corresponds to a point.
4. Team with the most points wins.

Stealing Bases (Agawan Base)

Equipment: markers to be used as the base, 2 pcs. (you can use two trees or two
slippers or two chairs as your bases)

Number of players: minimum 4, two in each team (more players for more fun
recommended)

Mechanics:
1. There are two bases, each base has equal number of members. There will be one
person assigned to guard the base. The others may leave the base to run and try
to catch another members of the other team or to try to steal the opponent's base.
If you touch the base of your opponent first, before members of that team tag you,
you steal their base and your team wins.
2. Another main goal is to catch as many of the opponents as your team can. A
captive opponent becomes a prisoner and stands on the captors base until a
member of his own team saves him by touching/tagging him. Once he is tagged
and saved, the prisoner is freed and goes back to his base.
3. The game can be as small-scale as teams just facing each other and trying to tap
the opponents to catch them or as large as team members hiding and strategising
whom to catch first for example, the weakest links or the slowest runners. If there
are no more members at large, meaning all opponents have been captured, all
members of the stronger team will have to try and get the base from the guard
by tagging it. The one left must try not to leave the base lest it be overtaken by
the opponents. In this case, the stronger team wins.

What do you learn from this game?

1. Speed and agility, not getting caught by the other group.
2. Loyalty, save the captured members of your group; no one gets left behind
3. Tenacity, if at first you don't succeed...try and try again
4. Sportsmanship, win or lose you accept both with good humour, at least everyone had
a lot of fun!
