SOCIAL JUSTICE SUNDAY
For those whove come across the seas
The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference has published
the 2015 Social Justice Statement. Bishop Vincent Long,
Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne & Chairman of the Australian Catholic Social Justice
Council writes With the increasing global movement of people and our
nations fearful response, it is timely for us to reflect on this important issue of the
day. I highly commend this Statement to you and I pray that it will lead us to work
for acceptance, justice and dignity for refugees and asylum seekers.
For a copy visit www.catholic.org.au
Ballarat Clergy Support Fund: Thank you for helping raise $1,611.00 to date. You
are still able to contribute in an envelope marked Ballarat Clergy Support Fund.
Laudato Si: This is the second encyclical of Pope Francis - the subtitle Care for
our Common Home. In the encyclical Pope Francis laments environmental
degradation and global warming and calls all people of the world to take swift and
unified global action. The encyclical has been printed in hard copy and some copies
are still available from the Parish Office at $10 each.
Liturgy of Lament & Hope: A liturgy will be held at St Patricks Cathedral,
Ballarat at 2.00pm Sunday, 1st November (All welcome). This is being arranged in
the context of the hearings of the Royal Commission relating to child abuse. The
liturgy will offer people an occasion to lament the wrongs that have occurred in our
Church, to ask forgiveness, and to pray for healing for all involved.
Corpus Christi Building Appeal: To meet the increasing number of young men
who are answering the call to serve, an Appeal has been launched to help add eight
more rooms to the seminary. If you wish to respond to this Appeal please mark
envelope Corpus Christi Building Appeal and place on plate next weekend or hand
to Parish Office.
New Office & Refurbishment: As you will have noticed a fence has been erected
around the construction area. Church activities will continue as normal although
there will be limited parking. Parish parking will also be available off Fairy Street
via the laneway next to Darrian Office Supplies. A temporary office is currently
located at the western end of the car park. We ask for your patience and
understanding during the process as there will be some inconvenience.
Liturgical Roster: The new roster will be available next weekend.
