Welcome to the M3104 Industrial Touch Screen Monitor

Thank you for purchasing the M3104 Industrial Touch Screen Monitor. This manual contains
information and instructions for the monitor. Please refer to it if you have questions about
the monitor.

Connecting to the M3104 Monitor

There are three input/output connections to the M3104 monitor: power, serial and video.

See

figure below.
Power
Your M3104 monitor is powered by connecting a 2.5mm circular jack to a 12Vdc @ 1.5A power
supply or greater must be used.

Video
The video (DB15HD) connection is made by connecting a video cable between the monitor and
the video source connector on the PC.

Serial
The serial (DB9) connector is provided for touch screen communication. A serial cable from this
connector to the appropriate COM port on the PC that has been setup in the touch driver
installation is necessary for the touch function to operate.

The M3104 monitor supports CGA, EGA and VGA compliant video input which complies with the input
specification. The vertical refresh rate has a maximum supported frequency of 75 Hz. Many VGA sources can
operate at much higher refresh rates and, for CRT monitors, the higher the refresh the more flicker-free the
display. On the M3104 monitor, the refresh rate doesn't determine display quality. Most video sources offer
multiple refresh rates. The typical VGA (640x480) refresh rate is 60 Hz.

Adjustments & Calibration

Due to variations in operating environments, user preferences, and hardware, the M3104 is provided with control
buttons that allow the user to adjust the settings of the monitor.

Using The Control Buttons

The monitor has four control buttons and a power on/off button on the rear of the monitor which allow the user to
make adjustments. See figure below.
The On Screen Display (OSD) will open when the MENU button is pressed. Use the SEL and UP - DOWN buttons
to select and set the desired calibration mode. Press the MENU button to step back in the menu. The monitor will
return to normal operation (exit OSD) if no buttons are pressed after a period of time.

Quick Set Buttons

Auto adjustment (Press SEL)
The monitor will run a short routine to set various calibration modes automatically when the SEL button is pressed
in normal operation (no OSD screen active)

Maintenance and Care

The M3104 has been designed for demanding applications and therefore requires little
maintenance.
Reasonable care should be taken when connecting or removing the interface cables so that the
connector pins are not damaged. This is same care that is required for any computer or monitor.

Backlight
During the life of the monitor, the fluorescent backlight may need to be replaced. The normal life
of the tubes is 25,000 hours minimum.

Cleaning
For best results, use a clean non-abrasive cloth towel dampened with mild soapy water to clean
all external surfaces of the monitor.
For the viewing area, use a clean non-abrasive cloth towel dampened with commercially available
window cleaners or mild soapy water.

Energy Saving Mode

When the M3104 monitor is connected to an energy saving compatible computer, the monitor will
comply with the control signals to power down the monitor into a lower power state.

Caution: The power saving function will automatically put the monitor into active-off state if you
turn on the monitor and leave the rest of the system off. However, once the monitor can sense
the horizontal and vertical syncs, it will automatically return to its normal operation state.
