LIGNOMIX

MIX OF MICRONUTRIENTS: COPPER,

MANGANESE AND ZINC

1. INTRODUCTION
One problem frequently occurring in most plants are pathogenic
fungus attack, causing neck root diseases. Specifically, citrus fruits are
strongly attacked by various fungal species, but the most important are:
Phytophthora nicotinae
Phytophthora citrophthora
The two mutually cooperating species in the production of the
damage, which, depending on the attacking zone are named:
Gummosis: if gummy exudate in the trunk.
Rot root collar: With cankers on the trunk and / or rot in roots.
Aguado: fruit rot.

The damage are:

Destruction of roots
Exudation of gum and cankers at the base of the trunk
Defoliation an drying of branches
Direct damage to the fruit
Weakening of the tree with reduced production in quality and
quantity, and even dead.

Lignomix is characterized by using as the

complexing agent aluminum lignosulfonate. Its
application is recommended as deficiency corrector
containing elements as biostimulant as it promotes the
production of phytoalexins.

Chemical structure of aluminium lignosulfonate

Phytoalexins are phenolic

compounds linked to the
natural defense mechanisms
of plants against fungal
pathogens.
Chemical structure 3-methyl-6-methoxy-8hydroxy-3 ,4dihidroisocumarinaFitoalexinas

2. LIGNOMIX: Mecanism of action

LIGNOMIX is a liquid mixture of microelements (copper, manganese
and zinc), complexed with lignosulfonate aluminium, which gives
stimulating properties of phytoalexins.
It is absorbed by the roots and transported through the neck and
trunk of plants.
This is a product with systemic effect through the phloem and xylem
of plants, which acts regenerating tissues.

CONCENTRATION
Copper (Cu)

2% p/p (2,5 % p/v)

Manganese (Mn)

1% p/p (1,25% p/v)

Zinc (Zn)

1% p/p (1,25% p/v)

Density

1.25 gr/cc

pH

3,5

Lignosulfonatos

18%

3. WAY OF APPLICATION
It is recommended three to four treatments per crop cycle.
Treatments are recommended in times of low insolation to avoid
adverse effects.
Product intended for use in horticultural, vineyard, fruit trees and
citrus fruits.

4. IMPORTANCE OF COPPER, MANGANESE AND ZINC

The mission of Copper in the plants is important, since they form part
of some enzymes.
It is an element that should maintain on the ground in equilibrium with
the iron, since an excess of copper causes a greater oxidation of the
iron, which passes to ferric form, insoluble for the plant.
It impacts favourably in the fixing of the atmospheric nitrogen by the
legumes.
It intervenes in the photosynthesis of the plants.
It helps to build enzymes.

Manganese is an element that in the plants is located in the young

organs and acts on the operation of the oxidase and the synthesis of some
amino acids.
On the ground is in the form of assimilable ion (Mn2+); forming
sparingly soluble salts (especially in alkaline soils), associated to humus in
organic complexes or associated to iron in insoluble forms.

Advantages of manganese application

It catalyzes enzymatic processes in the plant.
It is a key element in the formation of chlorophyll.
In the plant the Zinc intervenes as activator of some important
functions and participates in the formation of auxins and hormones of the
growth.
The assimilation of the zinc is conditioned to the quantity of zinc
contained on the ground of other ions; therefore a lack of this can be
caused for:
Shortage of zinc on the ground.
Excess of phosphoric fertilizers, resulting in the formation of insoluble
zinc phosphate
Limed excessive producing zinc insolubility
Zinc is very important to:
It is indispensable for the formation of the chlorophyll.
It promotes the synthesis of proteins.
It contributes to the formation of grains and seeds.
