FLIGHT
PLANNING
Advantages
The workflow-oriented user interface displays the functions you need, where and when
you need them.
No need to manually create waypoints; set the ground resolution then click and drag a
box over your area of interest and eMotion automatically places home, start and all mission
waypoints.
Increase efficiency by precisely shaping the mission polygon to match the area of interest.
With the SRTM elevation dataset provided, or one you have added, terrain is automatically
taken into account, simplifying mission planning.
Built-in algorithms calculate the ideal altitude for the ground resolution you need.
Flight simulator
Put your mind at ease with the built-in flight simulator. Using the same physics engine as
the drone, it represents your flight with a high level of fidelity.
Sanity check mission plans to make sure you are following, and avoiding terrain, and track
flight progress with a 3D representation in Google EarthTM.
Oblique imagery
Click and drag to identify targets and set parameters in eMotion (for example, the targets
altitude) and the drone will autonomously engage manoeuvers that enhance the coverage
of any vertical surfaces.
eMotion automatically detects your drones camera and optimises mission parameters to
match its characteristics.
Import custom KML files and TMS*-compatible base maps, including those created
previously using your senseFly drone, for accurate and intelligent mission planning.
*the OSGeos Tile Map Service protocol
Fine-tune your flights altitude: import custom geoTIFF-format elevation data for precision
terrain-following and avoidance.
Take full control of waypoint characteristics and actions. Altitude, transition mode, turn
direction, radius and more can be edited before and during flight. Drag and drop waypoints
or enter latitude and longitude to change their positions, before or during the mission.
Directional take-off
Simplify flight planning: direct the drone to land as close to, or as far away from the take-off
location as you need, and at a different altitude if necessary.
Modify the flight plan at any time during a flight by assigning a new mission area or
manually editing mission waypoints, landing area and approach sectors.
Save time by saving complex or often-used flight plans to disk, or even on the drone.
Manage how the drone moves between waypoints: have it fly in a straight line, in steps
(straight up or down, then across), or have it decide how to fly the highest possible flight
path to reduce the risk of colliding with tall objects.
Take the maps you need into the field. Click and drag to define an area and eMotion loads
the offline map tiles you will need.
Conveniently create your mission area directly from a polygon in a KML file, such as those
created by Google EarthTM.
Keep informed: key flight parameters, including drone position, altitude, attitude, airspeed,
windspeed, status, autonomy and mission progress are all available on screen in real time.
Complete large and complex missions in a fraction of the time by flying several senseFly
drones simultaneously, and with peace of mind, thanks to eMotions automatic collision
avoidance.
In case of trouble, such as a bird attack or landing zone intrusion, trigger an emergency
manouevre with a single click and the drone will immediately climb, swoop, roll, land itself
or abort a landing. Trouble avoided.
Intervene easily during an autonomous mission: respond to warnings and change drone
behaviour (for example, what it does if its camera malfunctions, if it leaves the working area,
gets close to the ground or loses the comms link).
If a mission is interrupted, after the next take-off the drone will conveniently resume where
it left off.
Coordinate and collaborate: view the position, status and parameters of real and simulated
drones across the local area network. Control your drones using several computers, or
allow others to monitor and control them remotely. Synchronise multi-drone coordination
preferences across the network.
Work seamlessly with RTK-capable base stations: eMotion can receive and process
corrections through standard RTCM and leading base station brands proprietary data
transmission protocols, passing them on to the drone.
Plan and monitor your mission over different background maps, switching between them
while the drone is in the air.
Image footprints
Track mission progress effectively and get immediate feedback on image overlap with an
on-screen representation of the coverage of each image captured.
Instruct the drone to capture extra images at any time during the mission, or override the
automatically calculated distance between photos.
Intelligent landing
The drone automatically chooses the best approach vector for the wind conditions. Leave
it free to decide, or restrict it to one or more landing corridors, as narrow or wide as you
wish.
The drone automatically returns to the home waypoint if, for example, battery charge level
is too low, wind has pushed the drone outside the working area, or in the rare case of a
malfunction.
Import and process flight data (geotag and treat images) simply and effectively with
the built-in and easy to use Flight Data Manager.
Save flight plans you want to use again, share with colleagues or use in multiple drones.
Click in eMotion and Postflight Terra 3D launches, then automatically zooms in and
indicates your mission area, ready for processing.
Use Google EarthTM to view, present or analyse the exact path your drone flew.
For operational efficiency, place your base station on an unknown point, fly your eBee
RTK, then have eMotion post-process drone, base and reference station logs to calculate
precise base position.
Automatic updates
eMotion notifies you when updates become available, then downloads and installs
them in a few clicks.
Trouble-free firmware updates: eMotion notifies you when an update is needed. Connect
the drone and eMotion manages the process for you.
