Non-grammar Gap: Sentence Structure

ACTIVITY

On completion of this lesson, students will be able to:


1) Write simple sentences based on the given situations
(pictures)
I will be successful if I can:
1) Write at least 3 sentences using S+V and S+V+O format
1. Explain what simple sentence is to students.
2. Show several examples to students.
3. Expose them to S+V (subject + verb) and S+V+O (subject +
verb + Object/complement) format.
4. In pairs, students are given handout where they have use the
format to construct the sentences.
5. Discuss the answers.
6. Then, individually students need to construct at least 3
simple sentences on their own.

On completion of this lesson, students will be able to:


1) Write at least one paragraph on the topic (Memorable
Experience)
I will be successful if I can:
1) Write at least 4 sentences in a paragraph using the SVO
format
2) Construct one paragraph on the topic
1. Recall previous lesson on the S+V+O format with the
students.
2. Teacher gives one topic. Then, discuss the topic with the
students.
3. In pairs, students have to construct at least 4 sentences in a
paragraph on the topic given.
4. A few students will present the work upon completion.

Non-grammar Gap: Sequence Connectors

ACTIVITY

On completion of this lesson, students will be able to:


1) Write one paragraph on process of breathing
I will be successful if I can:
1) Rearrange at least three sentences correctly
2) Write a paragraph using at least three sequence connectors
1. Students have to rearrange sentences on process of breathing
according to the pictures given.
2. Then, teacher asks what lacks in the text (sentence
connectors)
3. Discuss about sentence connectors with the students.
4. Individually, students have to rewrite the sentences by adding
sentence connectors in it.

On completion of this lesson, students will be able to:


1) Complete the sentences by adding appropriate connectors
I will be successful if I can:
1) List at least 5 connectors orally
2) Complete at least 5 sentences correctly by adding
appropriate connectors to it
1) Recall previous lesson on connectors
2) Students need to name / state as many connectors as they can
with their functions.
3) Then, students must complete the sentences / text by adding
the most suitable connectors.

1) Write a summary on the topic
I will be successful if I can:
1) Write a summary using at least three sentence connectors
1) Recall previous lesson on connectors
2) Discuss the text for the summary.
3) In pairs, students have to list down all content points for the
summary.
4) Discuss the points with the class.
5) Individually, students write summaries using sentence
connectors that they have learnt.

1) Write at least 2 paragraphs of the letter
I will be successful if I can:
1) Write at least 4 sentences in a paragraph using the S+V+O
format
2) Write at least 2 paragraphs using appropriate sentence
connectors
1) Recall previous lesson on writing informal letter.
2) Distribute handouts to the students. Then discuss the
question.
3) In pairs, students have to work together to construct
sentences using the format that they have learnt.
